I have to write that I am thankful we finally have a good chinese restaurant downtown, close to home, and even closer to my new job just around the corner. I have been here several times now and can say it there has been no disappointment. My favorite has been the Kung Pao shrimp. Just enough spice to kick and generous helpings of shrimp. I have also enjoyed the almond chicken and cashew chicken but what keeps me coming back? Probably the most elegant and delicious wonton soup you are going to find... Anywhere. Really. I was battling a severe cold last week and sat at my desk, desperately craving my bed, my cat, and my down comforter. So I decided to take out a large wonton soup. I couldn't keep from cinging my tounge trying to gulp it down! The dumplings were robustly wrapped around delicious morsels of pork, but surprisingly, there was no skimping on added sliced carrots, onion, and the freshest mushrooms, all pleasantly floating around happily waiting to jump into my belly to get to work making me feel better. And, ultimately, that is the key here. Everything is super fresh. A relaxed spot to sit and dine in, alway a Chinese soap opera playing on the flat screen tv above the counter. Service and food were stellar! The crispy duck was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Shrimp fried rice was super. I didn't leave feeling the "yuck" Chinese food often gives so I think this is our new Chinese spot. Street parking only, great for large groups. This seems to have a large lunch crowd, but this is a great option for dinner too. I like the balance of both Americanized and more traditional options on their menu as well. read more

Really tasty Chinese food. I've had a couple tofu dishes and the eggplant dish. All very flavorful and high quality meals, large portions, large pieces of fried tofu/eggplant. There's not a lot of Chinese food options in Albuquerque, but this one is solid. And great to have in its location for the downtowners. Note- it is kind of hard to spot and I pegged it as a "dive" from just seeing the outside. But it's actually a nice little dining room too and the staff is nice and have made be feel welcome. read more

Not much flavor at all. The fried rice was just plain brown rice, no eggs or veggies. The egg roll was very greasy and so was the egg drop soup. I had the sesame chicken and it was just ok. The portions are huge for the to-go, but I didn't save my leftovers for later. read more

This is a great, small, out of the way restaurant..seems authentic and was pretty good. I would have liked to be able to just order vegetable LoMein by itself without the eggroll, soup, and rice. ...so it was expensive $10 for all the extras..good though! read more

I was in NM for a conference. Staying at the Hyatt O was completely fed up with just the hotel food and Mexican food. I decided to get me some Chinese but it was already dark outside. Not wanting to venture out alone I lucked out on Yelp! I found Lulu's kitchen. Delivery for $1! I ordered not expecting much but the food was steaming hot!! I ended up ordering from here for 3 out of the 4 days I was staying here! I'm back in Maryland but I miss that street food style Chinese food! The quantity of their fried rice is enough to feed you twice! They are definitely not stingy. Do give them a call. Try their steaming hot food! Tasty! read more

This is exactly what you are looking for when it comes to American Chinese food. The pu pu platter is great and comes with tender meats. I have enjoyed the broccoli and beef and sesame chicken. If you talk with transplants, visitors and Burqueños who've lived other places as much as I do -- assuming these people are foodies -- you hear a few common threads of, I dunno, gospel, concerning Asian food. Here's how the conversation inevitably unfolds: our Thai restaurants generally win, some are outstanding. Aside from a wealth of perfectly boring sushi, our Japanese options are really limited, but that's slowly changing. You'll find good, but not great, Vietnamese. And Chinese? Just forget about it. For some reason, the Duke City utterly fails the Chinese test, pretty much everywhere. Pretty much. This was painfully obvious to me just last night when I ordered from my neighborhood joint, it was just... so disappointing. It's not like I'm asking for much. I want beef & broccoli to taste comforting, not uncomfortable, not musty, just fresh, I want my tummy to smile. Where I grew up, every successful Chinese restaurant pulled off an uncomplicated Kung Pao, a homestyle cashew chicken, fat cream cheese wantons. It's Chinese food for lazy Americans, not difficult, yet so very hard to find around the 505. After two absolute feasts at Lulu's I'm proud to put this place on my list of exactly four Chinese joints that cook up food on par with my other-city expectations. Veggies are plump, plentiful and fresh. Meats pop. It's food that's fun to look at, and a joy to swallow. And it's not incredible, it just hits that spot that I was looking for last night, at home, watching Beauty & the Beast with my lil' one, Disney is candy, and that's how your neighborhood Chinese joint should taste. read more

I was highly impressed with the food here. Hands down the best fried rice and honey walnut shrimp in all of Albuquerque. I also had the pineapple chicken and i thought it was really good but the entree didn't have a ton of chicken on it, i was expecting a little bit more. I honestly found them to be a little pricey compared to other places in Albuquerque but after tasting there food it seems to make sense! The inside of the restaurant doesn't have much character to it and not too many tables but that has no reflection on the food. The food came out really quickly and the waiter was very attentive. It seems like they do a lot of take out! I will be back to try other options on the menu without a doubt. read more

First, let me say that I ordered this as DELIVERY. To the average person this may not seem like a big deal, but after living in Albuquerque for the past 15 years, there has only been one other place I know of that delivered Chinese food and they closed long ago. It arrived just when they said it would (even with the driver getting a little lost) and it was still hot and fresh. I ordered the vegetable potstickers and they were so good! I really like that the dipping sauce was more than just soy. I also ordered General Tao's Chicken and chose it to be "spicy" (you can choose the heat). It was quite good and I really liked how they added some bell pepper, onion and chilies to it. The last thing I got was the Hot and Sour Soup. Very good flavors. I will be ordering this a lot in the future. The portions were large, so I am able to save more than half of the chicken and the soup to eat later. read more

I love this place. Order delivery all of the time. Love the Pork fried rice and wonton soup here. Spicy Chinese Chicken wings also really really good here. In fact these might be the best wings in town that I have had! Meaty and flavorful with spices! Also try the Mongolian beef, Mongolian chicken, sesame chicken. Very good! There are a few things I wish they had on the menu including firecracker chili dumplings, Scallion onion cake but overall this is pretty good Chinese food for Albuquerque and they deliver to downtown, EDO, and surrounding areas. I was afraid my expectations were too high... I was right, they were. We had BBQ Pork, Mongolian Beef, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. The BBQ pork is not like any BBQ pork I've gotten at a Chinese restaurant before (see photo), and I can't recommend it. (Although, the dogs thought it was tasty!) My husband was disappointed with the Mongolian beef (he said it was bland and unremarkable). I was disappointed with the Shrimp with Lobster sauce. While the flavor was actually pretty good, it had huge chunks of virtually raw onion and zucchini, it also had ASPARAGUS in it (very strange choice), along with the expected carrots and peas. (I'm sure everyone has their own recipe, but just some simple snow peas and water chestnuts are really sufficient!) The Sweet and Sour chicken was actually pretty good. The chicken was fresh and crunchy, and although the sauce was very runny, it had good flavor. Ordering and delivery were excellent. We were traveling and just staying in a hotel for the night. I ordered online from the road, and they delivered the food to our room within about 15 minutes after we arrived. read more

Ever since moving from NYC, I've had an extremely hard time finding anything resembling legit Chinese food here in ABQ... UNTIL NOW!!! Not only are their dishes authentic, they know how to do tofu for all you veg-heads like me! I wept when I tried my first bite of the sesame tofu. (Ok not really, but I thought about it). The tofu was crisp on the outside and flavorful, with fresh broccoli, and the dish wasn't swimming in sauce. Just the right amount. No artificial coloring. And an amount that I easily split into two meals! I also enjoyed the veggie potstickers, and the spring rolls. Rice was great, not dry but not over cooked either. I ordered delivery, and the food came still steaming hot and under the expected delivery time! The only issue was the driver forgot my drink (though he offered to bring it back), which I honestly didn't care about due to the deliciousness happening on my plate. We got the garlic eggplant, Mongolian beef, mapo tofu, and chicken lo mein. In the space that used to house one of my favorite dives the Atomic Cantina is LuLu's. I can still see the bones and I really missed the awesome art in the bathroom. But alas that is the past like memories if shows at the Dingo Bar that used to be next door. What LuLu's brings to downtown isn't a new style if chinese cuisine but a return to form of oldschool eats. I had the kung pao chicken and was pleased. No need for some gourmet twist just good food at a good price. Service was nice and very polite. The place looked cleaner than I ever saw it before. Not crowded and parking in the evening was easy this night. If you live in the area I'd say it's a must try. I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu. read more

I rarely make it downtown for lunch, and it is often nice try try a new restaurant here and there. First time to Lulu's Kitchen and I would say it's pretty good. I just can't stand the pay to park, but I know that's all about where I was at. The service was quick, which was nice. The lunch specials price was very economical. I had the Chicken Lo Mein and it was amazing. Really would have wanted no Fried Rice, as it was just odd having both and the egg roll was another thing I could skip. You also get Egg Drop Soup and it had a generous amount of egg in it, which was nice. My brother had the Szechuan Beef, which they said was their most popular dish. Really wasn't that into it. I can go either was on spicy and it wasn't overpowering, just bland to me. read more

The first time I went it was decent. The second time I ordered delivery, they were very quick to deliver. Although after eating and 30 minutes later my food was coming out both ends. My husband and I were at our wit's end about what to have for lunch. Suddenly, I thought of LuLu's and chinese food. We have been meaning to try it for a while now, so, chinese it is. The nice lady at the counter gave us menus and we decided on beef chow fun to go. It was a good choice. Lots of nice pieces of beef cooked with wide rice noodle, and the right amount of sprouts and onion. One order fed both of us nicely. Just remember to ask for extra soy sauce packets. The only small complaint was that it was a little oily on the bottom of the container. LuLu's is a nice addition to downtown and they deliver too! read more

LuLu's is an unassuming, family-owned joint in a very unassuming part of Albuquerque. Downtown, and south-of-Central-Avenue-downtown, to be clear. So it doesn't benefit from too much passerby commotion. But the space isn't bad: windows in lieu of a front wall, high ceilings, adequate seating, and a couple of flat screens showing a sport or someone, somewhere playing video games. The latter gives it a nice, family touch. Speaking of, it's undoubtedly a family-run business. The matriarch is usually there, and I suspect her son is usually helping. I find it endearing. The service, though not super professional, is very attentive. Seating, ordering, refills, meals all arrive in very quick succession. I should qualify that I have only been here for lunch. But the service is what you want from a Chinese restaurant a short pivot from Central. I've had three common dishes from the lunch special menu. The specials are preceded by a complimentary egg drop or sweet/sour soup, and arrive with an egg roll and steamed or fried rice. The portion of main is actually quite nice, and all for like $8 (if memory serves). The menu is vast and there are noodle and non-lunch-type dishes available at lunch too. I don't know what dinner, assuming it is offered. The quality is what you might expect from a large menu Chinese restaurant, though notably better than Mac's (on central). It's probably not made-to-order, but it doesn't taste old or stale, and the recipes are true to a Chinese quick-turnaround philosophy. Per their menu, they deliver, and a lot of the business I've witnessed has been carry-out lunchers. If you're itching for Chinese in the downtown area, LuLu's is a very good call. Predictable and comforting, good portion size, very well priced, and gives you the option of eating in, carrying out, or delivery. read more

Downtown ABQ is currently enjoying an expanding universe of good asian eateries. Lulu's has an extensive and varied menu , really nice and attentive staff, and craving worthy favorites that will have you returning to get your fix before the seventh day of the current week has passed. So far I have enjoyed the lo mein, the chow fun, the mushu, and am currently awaiting the crispy duck. They have only been open since December. Value, flavor, and delivery ! Well what can I say about Lulu's Kitchen. I did not get loaded so I ended up doing my 34 hour reset in Albuquerque New Mexico. I didn't want to move the truck so I went with the gamble of getting food delivered . After reading about the reviews I took the chance on Lulus Kitchen . The service was fast and friendly . The price was terrible .The delivery time was great . I ordered a shrimp fried rice . I assume it was one size . Then I ordered the chicken wings because those fried wings the Chinese restaurants serve that are fried in that yellow looking oil are really good . well these wings would of been that until lulu tried to make some sort of hot wing which was terrible and the fried rice was good had huge shrimp in it . Over all I would not be going back to Lulu's . Sorry but Albuquerque has tons of places to try out so Lulu's missed their chance on this one . read more

I placed an online order with them through yelp. When I received my order it was completely wrong. I didn't even receive my tempura shrimp and the second dish was wrong as well I had ordered chow mein and got some chicken dish. When I called Grubhub this restaurant responded that it came with crispy noodles which I would have been fine with but my order didn't even have that in it. This resultant did not even try to fix the problem and called me a liar. I would give no stars if I could. read more

I was happily surprised! Love the Shrimp Lo Mein (with the wonderful smokiness from high heat cooking) and the Honey Walnut Shrimp (sweet and scrumptious)! Really good the noodles and rice had flavor. I have ordered ones and it was amazing, better then other places I have ordered from.

Was expecting more "americanized" food. Almond Chicken was more of a stir fry in hoisin sauce. It was tasty though. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and that made for a very enjoyable experience. It is a no frills atmosphere. All in all it was a very pleasant experience. Good food. read more
