The "feels" you get from finding a gem of an item and not paying full price, I can't tell you how amazing it is. Don't get me wrong, for the right item and occasion, I don't mind spending money on myself or a gift. But if we are talking about managing finances and being savvy with money, well then, you need to know how to shop! Over the years I've picked up wardrobes of good deals! Hugo Boss and Armani suits for on average $400-$500. Joe' Jeans for $50-$80. The best deal I ever found was a T-shirt for $0.01...that's right "one cent!" These days I enjoy shopping online. It's much more convenient and allows me to do a price comparison. Usually I will purchase two different sizes, then keep the size that fits best. It's also nice to have your items shipped to the local store, that way you don't have to stress with "Porch Pirates" stealing you deliveries! The Nordstrom Notes are always nice little surprises to add to the shopping experience. The team at the Oxnard is always willing to help with a pickup or return. I've been a happy Nordstrom Rack shopper for decades.

Somehow, I ended up with my wallet, so what better time to shop? Fashion Gal has a lot of trendy clothes, and I've been wanting to update some pieces in my wardrobe, so I took a lap around. Unfortunately, a lot of the clothing had cheap/thin material and high prices. However, directly to the left of the store - upon entering - was a clearance section. The items ranged from about $3 to $20 in the clearance section plus there was an additional discount on some of the items. I looked at a cute blue dress that I wasn't sure I wanted, wandered away, found out they have dressing rooms, and went back to try on the dress, where I found a cuter, fitter, smaller lady eyeing it. I watched, eagle eyed, as she lifted it up from the rack to check it out and eventually put it back. I bolted over and grabbed it, trying it on in the dressing room. It fit and looked really nice! Score! It cost $5! I've wandered in here a few times after shopping at Wal-Mart to look in the clearance racks for more nice, discounted clothes. I found a pretty dress (but had cheap material) for $3, a cute skirt skirt for $3, and romper for $3. Everything was also discounted for another 20%, so I walked away with three cute items of clothing for less than 10 bucks! Usually I now only look in the clearance section, then I'm out when I find nothing I like. Everything else in the store is a little overpriced for my tastes, but I definitely was excited to find some cute pieces. And it's a good way to hype up yourself up for going into the busy Wal-Mart shopping center to do some essential shopping when you know needless and fun shopping at Fashion Gal is next!

I walked over to the register to ask if I could leave my items there to finish shopping and the girl told me "yes". That was the only type of acknowledgment I got while I was in this store. Today, I purchased a wagon and the young lady who helped me was amazing. She brought the item down, answered my questions, and even offered to carry it for me. She was incredibly kind and deserves recognition for her outstanding customer service. One thing I noticed was that while I was carrying the wagon through the store, the only employees who offered help were female team members. I passed two younger male employees who didn't check in, even though I was clearly struggling a bit. I wasn't expecting anyone to carry it for me, but a simple offer to help would have been appreciated. I also want to recognize the older gentleman outside who checked on me while I was loading my car and made sure I was okay. Overall, this is still a great store. My only suggestion is to encourage all employees to check on customers carrying heavy items. Maybe because I wasn't older or looked like I struggled but it was heavy and seeing me struggle a bit - A small gesture can make a big difference.
