I know it's not a big deal, but it kind of ruined my experience. Came in on a Monday evening around 6:30, they're not many people in the store so I kind of enjoyed a little more as I am a more relaxed shopper and get more anxiety with a lot of people running around. I had to return a sweater and I went to browse a few items to use for the remaining balance of my gift card, a very nice woman help me pick out a few options that she thought we might look good with the clothes that I already had in my hand. She had also gotten me a fitting room, but I had to ask the other employees for help with the fitting as she was more on the floor sales -which is totally totally fine. Finally found a dress that I liked and checkout was fine but I live in Chicago, so I definitely should know that there is a bag tax. (Side note: most retailers in the area are open until 8pm). Well for the 1st time ever I was greeted! The greeting "just so you know we are closing in 15 minutes." As I walked thru the store, I was approached by 3 more associates sharing how many minutes they were closing in. The last associate told me that the registers would close in 3 minutes. Honestly you know going into Anthro that you will drop some $$ so I expect better service. I was looking for a specific item, and if anyone would have asked to help me, it would have been a pretty easy 400$. There were about 12 other customers in the store getting the same treatment. They easily had 1200$ in sales that walked out because they were so uncomfortable. I left about 2 minutes before 7pm and they had to unlock the door to let me and other out. Do better. When we got to the register, the associate rang everything up and explained that they take the most expensive shirt out of the promotion and only discount the other two items. So instead of getting two shirts free, you're still paying for multiple shirts. That's not "Buy One, Get Two Free." It's misleading advertising. My wife picked out the shirts she wanted, only to find out the promotion didn't work the way it was presented. We decided to leave without buying anything. If you're going to advertise a deal, be upfront about how it actually works.

The store is multi-story, as is most on Michigan Avenue. It is also insanely busy, but given the size and layout, it does not feel overwhelming. The store is laid out well, organized, well kept and clean. You constantly see staff members stocking, fixing, re-hanging, etc... In addition to the clothing, there is a custom embroidery section upstairs. We did not partake, but it was busy and I saw several cool pieces leave the area. Service was the only thing a bit off. The staff were quick, but not engaging or necessarily friendly. While there were lots of people on the floor, they never seemed to engage you unless explicitly requested. No big deal, but noticeable. This is the only location in Chicago that does embroidery. The customization area is confusing and…read morevery disorganized because there isn't any large signage and not enough staffing. The two tablets that are sectioned off to the left are for embroidery only, whereas the other tablets to the right are for printing on shirts and tote bags. You cannot embroider on the smallest fanny pack, only the larger one. Bring the blanks that you want to embroider with you to the counter. On the tablet, you can choose the embroidery patches you want and the placement. You are limited to 3 embroidery patches per bag. When you're finished, click the prompts to the next screen. After you're done on the tablet you can pay for the blanks and the embroidery service at the same time. The person helping me at the embroidery area was so friendly and did a great job answering questions. I placed an order around 3pm on a Saturday and it was ready 24 hours later. Pick up was also disorganized, as there isn't a designated pick up area. You have to go to the tablet area and try to grab the attention of someone working, but they're so busy helping others that it took a while to pick up my bags.

I first interacted with two younger, friendlier clerks but once I emerged from the dressing room I was met with the nightmare that is Syed. He's the big boss of this place. I couldn't touch anything in the store without him barking at me about sizes, colors. When I gathered my things in the dressing room to pay for a couple shirts I'd tried on he hovered outside, rushing me. I told him I was buying two shirts. I thought he might take this as good news. Nope. Syed sternly took the shirts away from me to begin the cold, impersonal check-out process. He asked if I'd bought Lacoste before. I said yes but at department stores. MASSIVE EYE-ROLL FROM SYED. He was strictly interested in if I was already registered in his system. That's all Syed cares about so don't waste his time with any further comment on Lacoste, like, at all. I tried to smile and thank Syed at the conclusion of the purchase. Syed was not into it. Maybe it's my fault. I'd showed him a couple items from the Lacoste site I was interested in purchasing and it really seemed to piss him off. Guys let's all be nice and not bother Syed in his Lacoste store. He has all the shirts folded like he likes. It's important to him.
