Eugene Yoga - One of my favorite yoga teachers of all time, Jennifer Jamieson at a yoga retreat in Costa Rica.

Eugene Yoga

This is by far my favorite place to do yoga in Eugene. I've met amazing instructors and students…read morethere over the years. Over the last few months I have frequented the classes of Julia, Jennifer, Michelle, Steve, Laura and Brie. They all offer me something unique and desired in my practice. This has come to be a very special place for me. (Though I miss Todd terribly!) One thing I would love to see happen is to have more of a curriculum for their classes. I'm not sure exactly what that would look like but sometimes it feels like I missed instructions along the way despite going to introductory courses. For example, in numerous classes I've heard instructors say things like "if wheel pose is part of your practice go ahead and move into that now" but despite going to intro-intermediate classes for years I've never had wheel instruction in class. i can certainly see how this happens at most studios, especially with more complex poses. But I also know how amazing it feels to have a teacher guide you, for example, into your first really satisfying Warrior Two. I want that with wheel, crow, headstands, etc. So I bring this up not as much a critique of the studio, as this is likely common in most places, but instead as feedback to consider. It is expensive for my grad student salary and I wish the student discount were greater or some other sliding scale agreement were offered but I guess that's often the case for my life these years. I've done cheaper yoga elsewhere in the community and though I can find something wonderful in any yoga practice I feel like the teachers at Eugene Yoga best help me in my spiritual/physical journey.

It was the best thing I have ever done for myself and adding a new skill to my resume. I have also attended prenatal classes when I was pregnan, sound meditations, workshops and other gatherings they offer to this community. They also let me use the space one night to teach my kids Girl Scout troop some yoga. Wonderful people all around!

However, I recently went to their Sunday morning class not knowing it was in a hot room. Now, I can't stop. I am addicted to hot yoga. I feel like I do two hours of work within a 50 -ish minute class. I typically don't get sore muscles after yoga, accept for after sessions here, the next day I feel as if I just spent hours lifting at the gym. I've been to a couple of sessions now and am looking forward to making their Sunday morning class a part of my regular weekly fitness routine.

I really enjoy Wild Light…read more I drop into a couple classes whenever I'm visiting Eugene. The instructors are always very kind and welcoming, some even remember me when I haven't been there for a couple months which is amazing. The space is clean and inviting. A couple spots to fill up your water before class. The class space is very large and has wall-to-wall tatami mats. There are plenty of blocks and straps to use. Blocks are cleaned/sprayed after each use and left to dry out individually, not stacked again immediately while damp, which I appreciate. I always feel like I get a good workout here. I bring my mat and towel and I'm soaked and sweaty by the end of every class. It's nice to take a true hot yoga class and get all the toxins out! It also feels like a very non-judgmental environment. Very hippie down-to-earth vibe, unlike those gen z 'white and and black with a neon sign and lulu lemon' studio aesthetics that are commonplace elsewhere. Thank you, Wild Light!!

I was first introduced to Jessi through a free community yoga night at the studio and was immediately impressed with her demeanor and style of instruction. I have also done a life coaching session with Jessi. Jessi has a very calm and nurturing style of yoga instruction. She guides students to stretch themselves , to 'find your edge' in the poses. She gives encouraging verbal and gentle physical guidance in correct form (for your body) in the poses. She reminds students to look/focus inside as they move through the class-- to see personal needs for growth and trust their inner guidance. She makes it clear students should move at their own pace, resting as needed, which is wonderful for me as a relative yoga newbie. Attending her classes leaves me peacefully revitalized and is among the highlights of my week. Her life coaching has a similarly gentle-yet-stretching feel to it. There she helped me focus in on what positive things I am seeking in my life and what I may be doing to block my success in those areas. Her personable, down-to-earth demeanor and fun nature made meeting with her a real joy. To sum up, Jessi is a delightful yoga instructor who has helped me find more fully my personal peace through yoga practice. She is an insightful, reflective life coach who aided me in more honestly seeking the good things I want in my life. I recommend her to anyone seeking a mindful, grounded, inner-self connecting yoga experience or a positive, self-guided, honest life coaching experience.

She has a very relaxing touch and when I need something specific worked on she makes sure to work it out. She always makes sure I'm comfortable checking in with the amount of pressure, etc. She has a passion for what she does so she's very knowledgable. I also attended her Yoga/Life Coaching Retreat at Palomar Mountain. For being her first retreat, I was really impressed with how organized she was and how smoothly everything went. She prepared all fresh organic vegan meals and there was plenty of food for everyone. We had three awesome yoga sessions each day. I love her style of yoga too. She is a natural teacher. Anyway, I would highly recommend Jessi for massage, yoga, and/or life coaching. You won be disappointed :)
