I returned to Hot Yoga in the fall of 2013. I was at a different studio in Eugene at the time, but decided to go back to the Bikram style that I had been accustomed to. There are many reasons why I decided to become a member at Sweaty Ganesh, which are as follows: cleanliness of studio--Sweaty Ganesh members and employees work hard to present a fresh and clean environment each day of the week. This is important for obvious reasons. The classes are consistently strong and taught by multiple teachers. I like the variety of teaching styles and content. The variety of classes and times offered works great for most schedules. There are workshops, music classes, community classes, and more. This is a studio that is clearly dedicated to community because each month there is a class that is dedicated to a different cause that benefits our community. The owner allows a co-op style of participation where some members work for their membership--this fosters pride in the studio and builds relationships. The owner is generous in donating to many agencies and hosts an annual anniversary celebration where she feeds her clients excellent food, provides yoga demonstrations, and offers a one time membership fee that is very affordable. I've been to similar studios in San Diego. I was so happy to return to Sweaty Ganesh in Eugene because it made me realize how truly awesome it is and how fortunate we are to have such a special place to cultivate wellness of mind, body, and spirit. Let's see.....I am not very good at being concise with my words. SO. Let's just say that.....if I am not at home, I am plotting and planning my day around ...how to "get my yoga on". :-) Work and other things....then fall into place !!Jess and the teachers at Sweaty Ganesh offer a variety of different classes, that give me the chance to explore different ways of meeting my desire/need for yoga; which includes the physical work out aspect and the mental , spiritual, relaxing piece. I would say that it is critical to let your teacher or teachers know , what your hopes, thoughts, expectations are, and then discuss with them, any challenges you are having, or expectations, hopes that were not met. They can then let you know if it is realistic to expect what you were looking for, and/or perhaps a different class, or teacher, that may be more your "style". Oh, I should probably add....you will probably hear in each class, some variation of....do NOT have any expectations....of the class, yourself, etc!!! Really, you just have to show up:-) I cannot imagine life without Sweaty Ganesh, and all the different people/friends I see each time I walk through the doors. Several years ago, before this space became Sweaty Ganesh, I walked into the hot yoga studio that was then Eugene Bikram Yoga. I was interested in what hot yoga had to offer, but I was so turned off by the smell of the hot studio that I could not even try it. For all I knew the people could have been great, but the stench kept me away. After the business switched to Sweaty Ganesh around 2013 I went in for a second try. The space was clean, beautiful, and pleasant (and still is). I attended my first Core 26 class that day. Having spent a fair amount of time with yoga instructors, coaches, and trainers in the past, I recognized the high quality of instruction almost immediately. With most of the instructors (not all) there is a great balance of being led into a safe practice with corrections, ideas, and suggestions, while also allowing people space to grow in their strength and ability. There is just enough variety with the instructors to have different experiences with each of them, but still be led through a challenging and consistent workout. You can tell they love what they do. The process of checking in and the financial options are easy and consistent. I've since visited a couple of hot yoga studios in other states, and it makes me appreciate Sweaty Ganesh even more. read more

I discovered this place about a year and a half ago when I decided to try out the hot yoga experience which I had been so curious and excited about. After my first class I was hooked. I REALLY enjoy the hot room and the exercises. It's a complete mental and physical challenge that I crave. My first impression was the cleanliness of the place and how sweet the instructors are as they greet you and explain the routine. The instructors are enthusiastic, very skilled in their practice, are engaged with you and as you take the class they assist with correcting postures, which I very much appreciate. They also take the time to remember your name which gives a much more personal touch to the experience. In addition to their normal classes, they hold special workshops and bring in guests, hold free friend Friday's once a month, and offer a special class once a month which is by donation only and the proceeds go to a local charity. This class allows me time to focus on me and I feel so refreshed and cleansed afterwards. I highly recommend giving Sweaty Ganesh Yoga a try. I appreciate all that they do in their studio for their students and charities they support. So glad I discovered them! read more

There's too much for me to say about a place like Sweaty Ganesh Yoga, so I'll try to keep this brief. Yoga in a studio was new to me, let alone yoga for an hour and a half at 105 degrees fahrenheit, but I loved the challenge, and I was tired of occupying the same mental space. A "comfort zone" I believe it's called. I was nervous, but the students and instructors were comforting. I was confused during many of the postures, yet I found myself being guided by the instructor in a room full of 15-20 members, when surely I thought I had been overlooked. I've had compliments and tips from students and teachers alike, and the other practitioners have been friendly and unobtrusive. This studio has it's owners heart, and you can feel it in every room. There are no shoes allowed past the foyer. Win. There is a ten-stage water-filter in the bathroom for filling up water bottles. Double-win. All the soap is FRAGRANCE FREE and is in unlimited supply in the showers. HAT-TRICK. From the moment I stepped into 820 Charnelton, it was clear to me that I was in for an adventure. I cannot speak highly enough about Sweaty Ganesh. It is not only a yoga studio, it is a strong and welcoming community. It is run by Jess Eldridge who is not only knowledgeable about yoga, but also has a masters degree in counseling. She welcomes every individual who arrives at the studio and is genuinely interested in addressing each person's needs. In the 4 1/2 years since I have been attending classes at Sweaty Ganesh the studio has changed significantly. While it still has mostly "hot yoga" classes, it is no longer part of the Bikram kingdom. Jess has added Vinyasa classes, and is currently constructing a space where unheated classes will be offered, including healing yoga, mindfulness, and classes for kids. Another significant element of the studio that I have found to be wonderful is the workshops addressing various aspects of yoga and specific postures. I have exercised all my life, but I have never liked attending scheduled classes. Now I am a regular at the studio, and I am stronger, more flexible, and more tranquil than I have ever been. I love this studio. I have been practicing yoga for seven years at this location. In that time, it has changed owners and evolved in many positive and inspiring ways. Jess, the current owner, has invested incredible energy into creating a beautiful, modern, immaculate space for us to practice in. The "hot yoga" we practice here is a modified version of the core 26 practice founded in the Bishnu Gosh lineage and popularized by the notorious Bikram Choudhury, but without the aggressive, rigid instruction style of Bikram Yoga. The postures are also modified slightly to prevent injury and build strength. I love the conscious changes Jess has made to this practice, and I feel the difference in my body. The studio also now offers more variety in its classes, including a Vinyasa Flow and an intermediate Core 40 series. These provide a nice complement to the regular Core 26 series. The teachers here are supportive and knowledgeable, the community is close-knit and friendly -- no competitive vibe -- and the studio itself is gorgeous. Great place for beginners and more advanced students! I am very new to yoga but I was super excited to begin my practice here over any other place because the facilities were great and the staff was very welcoming. I have only been attending classes for about two weeks, but already the staff remembers me and greets me personally every day (I have never had this happen at a yoga studio before). All the students here are also very friendly and there seems to be a close bond between everyone. My favorite classes are the Hot Vinyasa Flow classes, but they are all great. I kind of see this place as "nice eugene" version of bikram (less militaristic approach than i have encountered with all the great benefits!). I love that there are one hour and 90 minute options so I can always find a class to fit my schedule. You cant go wrong with the $39 intro special! I have already got two more friends hooked and coming along. I will definitely be purchasing more classes once my intro special runs out. read more

I recently signed up at the Sweaty Ganesh after moving from Portland. I was sad to leave my studio in Portland and hesitant to find a studio that could match it's caliber. I was lucky. The first day I walked in to the studio, the instructor was extremely attentive, discussing my past injuries with me and offering suggestions for class. Every instructor I have encountered since then has been just as friendly and attentive. It really feels like a community there and like everyone cares for their fellow yogis. The studio is bright and clean. Even though there are nice carpeted floors in the practice studio, there is no smell whatsoever. It is so nice that they offer a noon lunch class as well as a bright and early 6:30am class, with showers available, so that I can walk to work 2 blocks away after practice. It is so convenient! I have found my new yoga studio and am so happy! This place is great :) read more

These guys are awesome. I've never done hot yoga before, and I'm pretty new to yoga of any kind, but I got brave and signed up for their newcomer deal: one month for less than half of the regular price. When I walked in, Julie introduced herself, welcomed me, oriented me to the place, and listened to my litany of injuries with both interest and optimism. During my first class, she perfectly balanced telling me things that weren't obvious with leading the whole class at a normal pace. I started three days ago and I've been to three classes. I obviously can't speak for the long-term experience, but I can say the Core 26 class is great for new students, and Julie has been super helpful. (I haven't met any other instructors yet.) I've found the experience both gentle and challenging. My body feels great. I'm looking forward to becoming part of the community. read more

I recently moved to Eugene from New Mexico where I practiced hot yoga for 7 years. I am so happy and excited to have found Sweaty Ganesh Yoga! I can't say enough good things about the studio. It's in a great location downtown and I've never had a problem finding free parking. The instructors are high quality and friendly too. There is a good amount of class options and times. They have a great introductory offer of unlimited classes for your first month for only $39 and then the regular prices are reasonable after that. The yoga room is hot--as it should be!--and doesn't have the funky carpet smell that so many hot yoga studios do. The changing areas are big and clean with nice clean showers. They even supply Dr. Bronner's liquid soap and filtered drinking water. They also sell juices and yoga clothes. I love this place. Jai Ganesh! read more

Fortunately this studio left behind its strict adherence to that egomaniacal misogynous guy's series of postures. They changed the name of the studio and its approach to the yoga experience. They have the 26 postures in 90 minute and a 60 minute formats - but not EVERY class. The studio has incorporated a range of other yogas and series in the hot studio environment. I really love the option to do a variety of yogas. As a long time disciplined practitioner I know I do not want the same exact series of asanas all the time. I was devoted to doing the Bikram 26 only, every day, but Sweaty Ganesh Yoga is the perfect studio for my practice with its range of classes. I find the teachers to be generous, sensitive and rigorous. Clean locker rooms, a non-stinky hot yoga room, and super friendly people keep me coming back. read more

Sweaty Ganesh is just truly a great studio. I moved to Eugene from San Diego where I had been seriously practicing yoga for a few years and had been to countless studios. Moving to Eugene and finding a new studio was scary and somewhat discouraging until I came to Sweaty Ganesh! I can happily say that I have found a home in this studio for the last year+ and that is because of the owner, Jess, and the other amazing instructors that make you feel so welcome and a part of the studio family. They offer a variety of classes and have many different times on the schedule each day so you can make one work with whatever your schedule may be. As a health professional I give this studio my highest endorsement. You will receive the best instruction available to build your own personal foundation of a solid yoga practice. The instructors work as a cohesive team to empower each and every student. Yoga, when taught with integrity has the ability to transform your life. Not everyone is ready to take charge of their health. This is not soft serve yoga, but a real yoga practice available to anyone who wants it. It will change your body and you will grow from it. I love the fact the Bikram roots are here but Sweaty Ganesh Yoga has made it better. I cannot say enough about how much they helped me both personally and my education in holistic health. I have been a fan of Sweaty Ganesh for a couple of years now, and have greatly appreciated how this team of teachers offers Bikram classes in a way that feels more compassionate and humanizing than many other more militant Bikram classes I have taken at other studios. More specifically, I love, love, love the classes taught by Julie and Jess, and always leave their classes feeling refreshed both physically and emotionally. My fan status upgraded to fanatic when Sweaty Ganesh started offering Hot Vinyasa classes with Meagan. Woohoo! This is a wonderful studio! If you are visiting from out of town this is the one to go to!!! Consistent, warm, amazing classes!!! Or if you live in Eugene they have tons of classes, a wonderfully friendly and cool community of people practicing together and excellent facilities. Jess is one of the kindest, sweetest most beautiful humans you will ever meet! She is proof of what her yoga can do for you. Her staff of teachers are all similarly amazing, happy, down to earth and accommodating. This is a fantastic place to practice hatha yoga and to be in the presence of wonderful people. It is truly a blessing to have Jess Eldridge directing this studio. Her insight into well being and loving oneself truly is amazing. There are various degrees of practitioners of students and teachers alike which makes the practice very humbling. Such a great experience! I signed up for the introductory offer this week and I'm hooked! I was intimidated at first because my experience with yoga is limited and I have never attempted hot yoga before, but I felt welcome from the time I walked in the door. The instructor guided the class through each pose in a way that made it easy to listen to your body as you listened to her voice. The staff is great, some giving detailed instruction on positioning and others have more of a flow style to their practice, but all the staff is friendly and genuine. I just signed for unlimited classes for only $35 as a new student. The changing rooms and showers are clean and meditative in style. I have been there 2 times and love it so much I will definitely get a diamond membership so I can go as much as I want throughout the month. read more
