I received a box of caramels today from a friend, 1st of all the box & ribbon are beautiful, the chocolate is rich & amazing added with the caramel it's heavenly!! I've always enjoyed chocolate & caramel but this is a whole different level, i've never heard of this place in Ryan Ranch, i've got to share these with family & friends to get the word out!!

Finally got to try Lula's Chocolates. Bought my mom a box of truffles and the buttercream box for myself. Creamy, high quality, and amazing. The lady working at the shop was so sweet as well. Next time I am back in Northern California, I'll definitely pay another visit to Lula's! The shop was very clean and provided a wide range of selection, but the buttercream chocolates have definitely blown me away! A true gem in Carmel-by-the-Sea!

An unusually warm winter day in the Bay Area called for a day trip to Carmel. Perusing the streets of Carmel is always a treat. Every time I visit, which is about once a year, I'm always filled with excitement as if it's the first time. I love visiting new places and after visiting a toy store, walking back to the car took me to Lulu's Chocolates, and oh so glad I stumbled upon it. COVID guidance was in place and there's a sign before you enter the quaint chocolatier. I believe they only allowed one person at the time, lucky for me, I was the only one at that time. I felt I could check out the place without feeling hurried. I am intentionally supporting local small businesses especially during a pandemic. Lovely story with a nice associate. Score! The store was laid out beautifully and everything looked delicious: from their infamous caramel selection to Monterey milk chocolate toffee, I was in chocolate heaven. Now I regret not getting the hot chocolate, maybe next time. They also had their selection of Valentine's Day chocolates out. As a mug collector of notable places I visit, I was able to snag a beautiful chocolate colored mug from Lulu's with their logo. The pricing was reasonable so I didn't hesitate. (Other places charge so much for mugs/merch!) I can't wait for another warm day to visit Carmel, or perhaps even on a cold day - because I'll be back for more chocolates at Lulu's for sure.

California Toffee and Assorted Chocolates....Heavenly!!

I meant to go to the other store in Monterey, but I ended up here in the Ryan Ranch area... Definitely worth the trip! Love Lula's!!! They have so many great varieties and they are smooth and decadent! Each of the assorted chocolates are made with high quality ingredients and their packaging makes the final touch look classy. This location is smaller compared to the the other ones in Carmel and Monterey, however, staff was nice and helpful.

Excellent chocolate. Nice presentation. Great variety. Only complaint is their prices, but I guess we get what we pay for. We'll be back.

It's a small shop, and since I wasn't sure yet if I wanted a pastry, I ordered a coffee first while my husband looked at the case. One of the women behind the counter told me, "Usually you order pastries first and then we get the coffee at the end." The way it was said immediately made me feel uncomfortable, like I was somehow doing something wrong. I apologized and explained we weren't from here and I wasn't even sure yet if I wanted anything else. Their tone changed after that and became much friendlier, which honestly made the interaction feel even more awkward. My husband ended up ordering pastries, including a chocolate croissant for me, and both the latte and croissant were good. Sometimes the experience matters just as much as the food. It's hard to fully enjoy a place when your first impression made you feel unwelcome. I truly wanted to love this spot because it came so highly recommended as she visited it daily, but I left feeling more embarrassed than excited to return.

Absolutely stunned!! We were took excited to take pictures…read morebefore eating!! Special Sandwich: 10/10 This sandwich was amazing. Definitely worth the two hour drive. It had freshly cooked bacon to perfection, butter lettuce, the freshest tomatoes, an aioli sauce, on perfectly toasted sourdough bread. Would 100% get it again and I hope it's not seasonal because everyone should try this sandwich!! Flourless Brownie: 8/10 It definitely is a flourless brownie the texture of it is almost like fudge. It melts in your mouth instantly, there's not really much of a structure to the brownie. If you're a texture person this might not be for you as it's not a traditional brownie it's extra gooey. However, absolutely love the flavor of it. It's a rich chocolate flavor with powdered sugar on top. As a dark chocolate lover this was pretty good!! Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips: 6/10 It's nothing too special, it was more on the dry side but still strong banana flavor! Overall experience: 9/10 Customer service wasn't the greatest while waiting for our sandwich we didn't really know we had to wait, where to wait, and when I changed my mind on a pastry someone gave me a face. However, the ambience of the restaurant and food made up for it. I loved sitting outside, an amazing way to sit down and have a chat.

Of course, it tastes so good that you're going to want a bigger size anyway! We watched them hand-whip the ice cream right in front of us, and you can absolutely taste the difference. I got the Brown Butter Pecan, and every single bite had me closing my eyes just to enjoy it. That's how good it was.And don't even get me started on the homemade waffle cone...OH. MY. GOD. It was fresh, warm, crispy, and absolutely amazing. It took the whole experience to another level. This place is worth every bit of the hype and worth every minute of the wait. The cherry croissant was perfectly buttery and flaky, with the acidity of the cherry adding just the right kick to this breakfast pastry. I was initially hesitant on getting the clam chowder at a bakery and was thinking of getting it at a seafood restaurant on Cannery Row, but the reviews were glowing and the price was reasonable. I'm glad I took a chance on it, because the bowl was chockful with clams, potatoes, celery, and a briny creamy seafood broth base. The ambiance in this bakery is great- there's a beautiful wall mural on the back wall of this bakery and lots of inside seating. Don't miss out on this spot!

decided to give this bakery a second chance, but unfortunately I was disappointed again…read more My first purchase was a kouign-amann, one of my favorite pastries. I've had many excellent versions over the years, and this one missed the mark. It seemed overbaked, lacked the rich buttery flavor that makes a kouign-amann so special, and simply wasn't enjoyable. Considering the price, I was disappointed enough to return it. Thinking I couldn't go wrong with a croissant, I then ordered the almond croissant. It was enormous--easily large enough for two people--but size couldn't make up for the quality. The top layer had some flakiness and a hint of buttery flavor, but the interior was dense and heavy. Both pastries also had damp, wet bottoms, which made me wonder if they were not cooled properly after baking and ended up steaming from their own heat. The almond croissant was filled with far too much filling. Instead of complementing the pastry, it overwhelmed it. The filling was excessively sweet and heavy, and I ended up throwing away about three-quarters of the croissant. The only standout feature was the fresh sliced almonds on top. At $8.95, this was the most expensive almond croissant I've ever purchased. Even by Monterey-area standards, the pricing felt very high. For those prices, I expected pastries with better texture, balance, and execution. Unfortunately, my experience did not justify the cost. The prices are not posted!!!
