I spent nearly two years recovering from a torn Achilles' tendon and fractured ankle, and wanted a trainer to help get the rest of me back in shape. Luke hit everything I was looking for: a good fitness program, strong nutritional guidance, and attention to my injury. He has a great, flexible attitude--he isn't a drill sergeant but he isn't a cheerleader either. He makes you do the work, focuses on you (isn't doing his own routines on the side) and makes sure your goals are the focus. He also switches things up and keeps it interesting, while making sure all the exercises are something you can do on your own (sadly, I only had ten sessions in my budget as it's rather pricey--but have been able to successfully transferred what I learned thus far). He starts with a one-on-one sit-down so he understands exactly what you want, and it didn't count as one of my ten sessions. I kept a food and workout log that he reviewed every week and we discussed to my obsessive content. He was great, and I hope to be able to go back to him again for an inevitable tune-up...but hopefully in better shape. read more

I've known Luke for a little over 4 years. In the interest of full disclosure, we worked together at a big gym, and now he trains at my studio. But he has also trained me and HE KNOWS HIS SHIT!!! His training sessions kicked my ass every time...this is a rarity since most people don't push me hard enough. Or when they do, it just means they put more weight on and that's just boring...Luke is creative and did I mention he knows his shit??? He is very knowledgeable about all modalities, nutrition, injuries, and how to keep you interested. He is constantly educating himself and updating his training style. I have actually learned a lot from him. AND he's funny to boot! read more

I know everyone says their trainer is great, but mine really is. Seriously. I first heard about Luke through a coworker who I noticed had lost bunch of weight and was suddenly really fit. I called Luke the next day and 6 weeks later I had lost my extra weight in the middle ('ahem "muffin top") and could nicely fit back into my favorite jeans. I was stoked. I guess my point is results. I mean you work out to feel better and see results right? Luke is a great coach and motivator and he'll get you to your fitness goals quick. I am not athletic at all, so I am really impressed with how Luke's workouts have built up my stamina and strength. Luke primarily uses functional training (exercises that mimic everyday movement) but he can customize different types of training to whatever your goals are. I have been training with Luke now for six months, I've dropped 2 pant sizes and feel better than I ever have. Now people at ask me all the time "What's different, are you working out?" Results. Just sayin'. read more

With Luke on your side, you cannot go wrong. He is an excellent trainer, a hilarious conversationalist, and will not let you get away with anything that keeps you from achieving your fitness goals. For me, he's been the key to losing 25 lbs (and counting) and re-learning how to effectively and efficiently workout. You're going to benefit from his immense knowledge of all things body, fitness, and health; wicked sense of humor; sincere encouragement; and kick ass, transformative fitness plans. Bonus: He mixes up every session, so boredom is not an option. Try him. You'll like him. read more

Luke is a great trainer. He knows the mechanics of the body and can work with athletes, people who want to be athletes, those of us who have injured ourselves over the years being athletes (or just plain clumsy), or someone who has never worked out before! I started training with Luke when PT didn't seem to be helping for my herniated discs. I needed to strengthen my core....big time...but without further injuring my back. And, I'm competitive with myself so I usually do dumb things and hurt myself more. Luke was great. He made a workout plan that really strengthened my core and my back felt great. Time to work on the legs. But, both my kneecaps dislocate regularly due to an accident....so no lunges or squats. Again, Luke came up with a plan and managed to tone up my legs and bum. I am really impressed. Plus, he's funny so the time flies by while you're working out. I am an acupuncturist and I have started referring lots of patients to Luke because I am confident that he can handle whatever I throw at him. He can build someone up to be a big beefy dude if that's what they want or he can work with a patient with hip or shoulder problems and help them get in shape without injuring themselves...and often improve the problem. I'm a big fan! You will get great results. You will learn proper techniques. And you'll have a good time. read more

Luke's personal training sessions have been my exercise lifeline over the last year. After gyms closed for shelter in place, Luke switched to virtual training sessions at the same quality and challenge as in person. His workouts consider who you are and your fitness goals. I love that he pushes me with creative workouts. We use kettlebell, dumbbells, medicine balls, and body weight. He's a stickler for form which is impressive even over FaceTime! Highly recommend Luke for personal training. read more

I began training with Luke back in April of 2011 three times per week. Here we are -- about 8 months later -- and boy can I feel results! Luke has taken me from boy to man and we continue on the journey together enthusiastically. I appreciate Luke's hard work, commitment to my self-improvement, advice, great attitude, humor and depth of knowledge about the human body. One of Luke's best attributes is that he understands how the whole body works together as complete machine. For example, I used to lift weights with the idea of 'isolation'. While this is sometimes good, Luke's advice is completely contrarian. "Clench your butt cheeks" when you do push-ups, "squeeze your core" as you do rows ... all of these little morsels of advice work to making your body a cohesive organism with all parts engaged at all times. This alone has increased my strength tremendously. When I carry bags of groceries up my stairs at home I now have my lower body engaged rather than just clenching my grip and biceps. Everyday movements and tasks are so much easier when you learn to engage the entire body! We do a lot of kettle bell exercises to promote growth in these movements and to get my whole body working in unison. Bravo! I can't wait to see what 2012 holds in store for us and cannot recommend him enough. Thanks Luke!! read more

I've been training with Luke for over 2 years. Of all the trainers I've worked with, Luke is the only one who has been able to put together a workout program that was well thought out that change up and are different with each session. He takes a goal-oriented approach to training. I've consequently lost 25 pounds and much more energy through the course of the day. He knows how to motivate and push you to get to your goals. read more

What can I say, Luke is the best. I've been through my share of personal trainers and can say that Luke is part of the 1%. Physically I am stronger and more toned just after a few months. Luke teaches technique that is total body - but like legit total body because he really pays attention to your form and educates you along the way. I always feel like he is pushing me to work out harder than I have ever in my life in each session. You can tell that he has a lot of knowledge, passion and sincerity. In fact, Luke's professionalism, enthusiasm and overall awesomeness are so motivating that I've gone from working out 2-3 days a week to 6 days and I've changed my nutrition (food type and quantity). To say he's transforming my life seems like an exaggeration but it's not - he's motivating me to help me accomplish personal goals that I've struggled with for the past decade and doing so in a really healthy and sustainable way. read more

A solid trainer. Achieves a great balance of maximizing results without causing injury, an issue I've faced with other trainers who were unable to find a happy medium. Intense focus on delivering proper form. In addition to hitting my goals, Luke ensures that workouts target areas that are important for good general health (i.e., legs, back, core). Good attitude and motivational. Changes up the workout to keep it interesting and the body guessing. read more

I vowed never to hire a trainer until I watched Luke train his clients. It was like watching an Olympic trainer with his athletes. He trains each completely differently depending on their training goals: fitness targets, likes & dislikes, body types and perspectives. So, I hired him for 6 sessions. That turned into more than 1/week for the past 3 years. We've never done the same work out twice. And, I've never been in better shape even with my former, dedicated, college trainers. Other trainers come up to him mid-workout constantly and ask what he's doing or where he learned the techniques. And then we see them copying the moves in their routines. If only they knew the basics behind the exercises. The great thing about Luke is he reads as much as he trains - so he knows how to build muscle and trim fat, or increase endurance while also building muscle, or increase flexibility while building strength, and on and on. He varies workouts depending on whether I want to train for biking, skiing, running, or to rehab after I get hurt doing something else - he always has countless training philosophies at his fingertips. We'll spend a few weeks on the Romanian Olympic techniques, then the latest on muscle building research, then Russian endurance training, and on and on. He must be doing something right as he's the poster boy for Bay Area fitness competitions. Literally. Unless you're ready to go hire Athlete's Performance at $10,000 a week and their giant staff, Luke is the best there is. read more

Luke is an incredible personal trainer. Not only will he whip you into shape, but he keeps it interesting everytime you work out with him. He is great about not repeating the same workouts every week. He also does a great job of explaining why he has you do certain exercies. Luke is very conscientious of you and what's going on with your body and wil adjust a workout accordingly. Overall, I very highly recommend him! read more

I lost 20 pounds with Luke! When I initially started working out with Luke, I was desperate to fit into this great pair of white pants I bought in college aka my skinny pants. I'd been working out pretty adamantly for over 2 years but couldn't seem to attain the results I wanted. Luke helped! He set up a dynamic program that centered around my specific goals and became a great coach through the process. Within 2 months, I started to see some serious results - my energy levels and endurance began to improve while my strength increased tremendously. Co-workers, friends, family all noticed the extreme changes to my body. With Luke's guidance and impressive knowledge, I was able to trim body fat and increase muscle mass. Today - 2 years later, I am in the best shape of my life and feel better too. Oh and those white pants I was so anxious to get into, THEY'RE TOO BIG NOW! Luke's amazing! read more

Luke is a trainer who not just really has studied his craft, but communicates and lives it as well. I have been working with him for over 5 years and feel like I benefit from his efforts as a trainer and gym owner daily. I highly recommend him. read more

I have always been athletic, strong and in shape. Then I had a baby. I lost most of the baby weight but definitely needed some work. I've been to several personal trainers over the last 10 years - most of them really good. And I almost didn't go to Luke because I liked my last trainer so much, but based on the recommendations I was getting for Luke, I decided to try him out. And I'm so glad I have. I get bored really easily, but Luke changes up the workouts constantly. He uses combinations of yoga, weight training, boxing, moves that require some concentration, coordination and balance (which I'm still working on!) to keep it interesting. Even though I have definite "target areas", my whole body is getting toned and the target areas improving quickly. I have more energy and I actually look forward to my workouts with Luke! He focuses on form so you're getting the full benefit of each exercise and don't injure yourself. And it's awesome working out outside. So if you're looking to lose some weight, just get toned up or even just get your energy back up, give Luke a call. read more

I have been training with Luke for about 3 months and I am very happy with the training I've received. I was never an athlete type (really, couldn't do even one push-up) and did not know anything about strength workouts or weight training, so I wasn't sure if I would like it or if I would be able to continue. But, seems like Luke understands exactly what I need to do and provides me with tailor-made exercises that fit my level- they are not easy, because they shouldn't be, but each exercise challenges my limit and that makes me feel proud! We have some routine workouts, but he also adds new exercises frequently, so you always feel like you are learning something new and I never get bored. He is very professional and has a great knowledge of fitness, nutrition, etc. , so you can learn a lot from him. And, he has a good sense of humor, which is important for me! It is so worth my time and money (his price is very reasonable for what you get) that I am sure I will continue to work with him for a long time! I strongly recommend Luke if you are looking for a personal trainer who can personalize your workout and give you the result you desire. read more

OK, so after working all day as an office monkey I absolutely do not have the brain power or motivation to include strength training on my list of to-do's. That's why I've been training with Luke for the past 2+ years: he's super efficient, knowledgeable, and capable of creating imaginative and varied routines. Also has a great sense of humor! I've definitely noticed increased strength and endurance as a result of my twice weekly sessions. Luke is able to work with clients of all fitness levels. read more

Ahhhh, Luke- what can I say...he is the best. I don't think you could possibly find a trainer who is more talented, knowledgeable, dedicated and truly serious about helping you reach your goals. (Plus, just look at him- he obviously knows what he is doing!) He doesn't just do the same old workouts that every trainer has been doing for years; he creates individual workouts for you that are innovative, functional and deliver results you weren't even looking for. You go to him looking to build up a little muscle and the next thing you know you are faster, stronger, leaner and have more energy than you have had in years. I was a serious workout nut before I met Luke and thought I knew everything but he has totally proved me wrong. Not only will you have a fabulous rear end and rock hard abs after working out with him but you will learn so much about how to train properly, nutrition and overall health. I have trained with some of the top trainers in the country and I have to say- Luke is the best. It is impossible to work out with him and not walk away feeling like you just had the best work out of your life and that you could kick someone's ass with your new found strength ;-) Seriously though- go workout with Luke at least once...I promise it will be worth it and you will want to work out with him every single day! You will get a fabulous workout and will be having so much fun the whole time you won't even realize an hour has gone by...except for the burning in your legs as he makes you do 30 second full speed sprints on an inclined treadmill ;-) read more

I've had a few great personal trainers over the years but none as great as Luke. He pushes you hard and motivates you in a positive way and every workout is different so it's never boring or tedious! Luke is extremely knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition and is always watching my form to make sure that I don't get injured. My body is in the best shape ever (even after 2 babies) thanks to Luke! read more
