The Red room - where the magic happens.
    Tiffany S.

I tried my first class at Barry's FiDi yesterday and I absolutely loved it. I left feeling strong, empowered and refreshed. The instructor was energetic and clear in his directions and his playlist was bomb and kept the energy up. I've never been in a floor-to-tred class, so the transition experience was a little different, but once I got it... I got it. The only thing I can honestly say I didn't like about the class was the spacing. I felt like I didn't have enough room on the floor to really get into the weight training portion. I was too worked about kicking my neighbor, being kicked or hitting the treadmill. Great workout for the price though. Considering taking them up on the three class pass deal. Oh, and I loved the community "give your neighbor a fist bump and let them know they got this" aspect of the class was well. Definitely made you feel like you weren't suffering alone. Lol. I'll definitely be back for another class.

It's been months since I last stepped into Barry's, and I was really looking forward to coming back--but I noticed quite a few changes this time around. The class itself is still solid. The instructor kept the energy high, gave clear guidance, and I left feeling strong and accomplished. That part hasn't changed, thankfully. What has changed, though, are the little details that used to elevate the overall experience. They no longer offer complimentary bags for your sweaty clothes, which was something I always appreciated after class. No hair ties either--just small conveniences that used to be part of the package but are now noticeably missing. I also tried their new matcha drink, and I have to say, it was disappointing. Super watery and lacking flavor compared to what they used to serve. Overall, the workout itself still delivers, but the amenities and extras have definitely taken a step back.

Tried my first Barry's class and it was intense! I've taken Orangetheory and found this to be whole other level. Shoutout to Joe for walking us through and helping me open my locker. 17 in the men's locker room is defective. I took a photo of the lock just to make sure! Having some fitness background does help cause they don't really demo the exercises or guide you. It's basically sink or swim. People also walk/run from 5-10 on the treadmill. There were also no wipes and people don't clean either. Facilities overall were nice though. Will have to check out other locations in the future Thanks for the challenge this morning!

Popped in to grab a protein shake during our travels to San Francisco. This circuit training club has a lot of good team spirit. Everybody was super energetic and happy to help us. I had peanut butter, jelly protein, and my husband had the chocolate peanut butter double protein super tasty ingredients love the product this club provides. Would definitely recommend this place for a healthy protein shake.

Long time Barry's fan. Instructors like Jeff, Brian, and Andrew are excellent. Go for the workout. Stay for the community. Pros: Good adhere to health and Covid standards. The workouts. The music. Cons: Hard to figure out which new instructors are good.

I always love Barry's and this one did not disappoint! It was a solid experience and I really enjoyed the coaching from Brian - he was a solid coach and gave a lot of encouragement. I enjoyed being able to alternate between treadmills and weight training - honestly for me the weights were the hardest part - they let you choose whatever weight you want - so try to go lighter since they really load the reps on you here. The showers and amenities were really awesome too - I got all I needed from the showers and felt really clean at the end of a heartpumping workout!

I've always wanted to try Barry's Bootcamp and was finally able to try it myself at their FiDi location! This gym has got it all: lockers, smoothie bar, retail area, and towels for your workout! The class itself is an intense HIIT bootcamp. I have one of those heartrate monitors and noticed I burned a near 1000 calories in one class! I'm not an avid runner, so I will say, for people that don't run on a daily basis, be prepared to get tested to your limits. The specific class I was in set the warmup at level 5, and their sprints up to a level 12. I nearly felt like I was gonna fall off the treadmills at the speed they were going at. Switching from treadmills to weights and weights to treadmills with the dark orange lights were messing with my head. I definitely feel like I could've done without the excessive dark lights. Price points are pretty high (I think $30/class). So if you're looking for a luxury gym, this is a good option for you!

Ask the Community - Barry's FiDi

Is there parking in the weekend? If so where? And how much?

There's usually lots of parking on Sundays, either early in the day or late afternoon. Saturdays are harder, but there are a few lots around: expect to pay at least $15. You can find cheaper deals using Spothero or ParkWhiz.

    What's the parking situation like?

There's metered street parking and a couple of paid garages in the area - I wouldn't drive over there during peak hours on weekdays if I can help it!

I'll admit that walking in that very first time felt a bit intimidating at first since another class had just ended, but it also gave a glimpse of what the regular classes are like. Coach Chris went through an intro of the studio, fitness, class, and more. He walked us through a warmup and intro workout, including alignment details and any modifications if needed. Following that intro, we signed up for their Group Elements month for beginners (to attend Elements and Crossfit Lite classes at any of their gym locations), then ultimately tested out to join the regular Crossfit classes. Each coach's teaching/training style is a bit different, so it has been helpful to get a sense of their style and learn from the different cues and adjustments they suggested. I won't lie, the classes are challenging and downright hard most of the time, but the coaches work with you to find your level and then push you and encourage you to what they think you can do so you can improve and grow. While going to crossfit started as a curiosity aftering seeing an ad on IG (especially as someone who grew up without an athletic or even a movement background), CFSP has since motivated me to keep pushing through to see what my strengths are and what else I'm capable of!

She was so friendly and welcoming from the get go. I knew it was going to be a fun one! My favorite thing about Epic is that no class is the same. This was super high energy and cardio focused with eight rounds we did FIVE times. I was sore for days! It's only 45 minutes including the warmup and cool down, but you really get a ton out of it. The studio itself is smaller than the one I'm used to but there were about eight people that came and room for everyone to move about. It also felt very clean and I appreciated Dan mopping up our sweat as things went along. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in San Francisco and would encourage anyone looking for a fun and new workout to give it a try!

I originally saw a 6-week challenge ad on Facebook and I thought, hey why not. The main reason and motivator being that I wanted to be in really good shape for my wedding this Fall and all the associated pre-wedding festivities. I saw this as a really great way to launch my fitness journey and kick-start a new me! After a few email exchanges, I worked with Jenn P. to set me up for the 6-weeks. She also took some measurements / pictures and loaded me up with information on how to eat and how to prepare for the challenge with EPIC. I worked hard and showed up to classes 5 days a week and ate according to the meal plan. I really enjoyed the classes and I loved how encouraging all of the instructors were during the challenge. All of the instructors were so friendly and really encouraged me to extend myself a little more or push a little harder and I really think that was key in my workouts. I mean, who doesn't work harder when people are rooting for them? I didn't really lose any weight for this challenge, but it wasn't really my goal to. What i did get was a new-found appreciation for workouts that challenge you and are super fun, but don't leave you feeling like you've been hit by a bus. I also accomplished two major things during my 6 weeks - being able to complete the traverse down and back again and make it to the top of the rope climb. Feeling super positive about what is to come in the next 6 weeks of my fitness journey, but I can tell you that this is the lowest body fat percentage I've been at in a WHILE! :)

Unfortunately, I didn't really feel that safe going back to a bigger gym that were questionably spaced out. I walked by United Barbell a few times before I actually felt really comfortable with their safety precautions and got myself back in class. In my previous review, I took away one star because I really felt like all the people were very experienced and the instructors didn't cater to newbies like me. I will take it all back now because I've now taken classes with Olivia, Kristie and Brian..and they were all seriously fantastic about walking me through the movements and giving me really great feedback/input. Maybe it is because the classes are smaller? or maybe it is because I tell them upfront that I have no idea what I'm doing and need a refresher? Either way, it's working and I feel like I'm getting the right level of support and guidance to do the workouts safely. I have really truly been enjoying the workouts here. Better yet, you are able to see the workouts on the SugarWOD app (it's free!) when you add United Barbell as a community. My lower back was pretty achey last week, so it helped me decide which days/workouts to avoid while I was resting my back! Definitely recommend!
