I had several disappointing experiences here. I found the instructor to be quite condescending. I had a lower back injury and he would not listen to me when I told him I couldn't do certain exercises. Even worse, he tried to get me to do things against my will and spoke to me in a condescending way when I said no. There are a lot of great gyms in SF, and this is definitely not one of them. I will not be coming back read more

I'm new to SF and have been on the hunt for a new box. I tried a couple of others, but they didn't have that energy I was looking for. Then I found Flagship FiDi. I did one intro class and I knew it was the gym for me. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, the WOD's are super fun and effective, and the members are friendly and welcoming. I also love that you can be competitive if you want to, but if you're just here for a good workout, that's ok, too! I'm nearing the end of my first month and I already know this is meant to be my new gym home. read more

As other people have noted, the first time I walked in for my free trial conditioning class, I wasn't sure who worked there at first and had to ask around on what I should do/ how to sign in for class, etc. However, everyone that works there is super nice and knowledgeable so i wouldn't let that deter you from entering. I *love* that Flagship offers a free trial conditioning class to see if you like it. I have yet to see other crossfit gyms around the area do the same (and for how expensive monthly membership is, I would certainly like to try it out first). Going to that first class had me sweating and worked me out harder than I would on my own, so two big thumbs up in my book. If you are a noobie to the gym, you must enroll in the beginner series. Series is offered every week either in the morning or late afternoon, and you must go Mon-Thurs in order to complete the series. It teaches you techniques so that you can jump right into the performance classes (classes with barbells) when you are done. Zach (instructor) knows his stuff - he teaches you the correct form and knows exactly what each student has to work on. Since they don't want you to get injured, they want you to get the form and would ask that you complete the beginner series again if they feel you aren't ready. Awesome. Price: $200 for the first month, and $300/month afterwards monthly with no contract. Otherwise, there are different options that will make it a little cheaper than $300/month, depending on how you pay. For someone like me that has gone to 24 for the past couple of years, WOWWEEE. That's a big chunk out of my wallet. Worth it? As I said....you will get a great workout out of these classes. Stiiillll can't quite bring myself to justify the costs (although I'm trying really hard to...). Culture: The coaches are great, super friendly and funny. Members: hey, i get it. Crossfit isn't necessarily an activity that requires or depends on teamwork. That being said, there is definitely a spectrum from nice people to people that aren't so nice. Classes: One of the biggest pros is probably the amount of classes that are offered every day, great for students and working professionals. Classes around 6 PM on weekdays are usually packed, as expected, and you may have 3 classes working out at the same time. For other gym rats (I was "proudly" one), you may be at the gym for over an hour, easily (distractions from people coming up to you, working out those fingers....ha). All classes here are a hour long and you'll definitely get a good sweat in. For all moves that you aren't able to do/aren't ready to do, the coaches do a good job in correcting your form and will give variations so it will be easier for you. read more

After moving from Seattle to San Francisco I was looking for a CrossFit box that was almost like the one I came from. I knew what exceptional coaching looked like, a box where everyone encourages one another, endless great energy, safety first, and a non competitive environment. If you're a CrossFitter, you know how devastating it can be to leave your box. Fast forward after dropping in at 8 different boxes (won't name names) and none of which had everything I was looking for. It's lucky I knew what I was looking for or I'd have ended up at a box that didn't exemplify all of the above, or injured. Flagship is my knight in shining armor. I did a Saturday morning drop in and instantly felt welcome. People introduced themselves without prompting, Coach took us through the movements in the workout prior to, and the warmup was intense enough to kickstart a sweat. I signed up for a membership right after class and haven't looked back since. I've now passed my year mark here and actively attend classes 5-7x a week, including doing the Open for the first time this year. I can tell you Flagship is quite amazing. The classes are very well organized and there's always bumpin' music which, at 8am is a great start to your day. The coaching here is awesome. All coaches (I mean all of them!!) are very knowledgable, can help with modifications if needed, understand mobility, and prioritize safety first which is numero uno. No poor form allowed! The workouts are challenging, dynamic, and fun. Yes, FUN! There's great energy here. What I really appreciate is the non competitive environment. In a city where boxes are super bro-ey giving CrossFit a bad name, Flagship is the complete opposite. You show up, do what you can, push yourself, and do your best regardless of your skill level. No one yells at you, tells you to add more weight, makes you feel bad, brags about themselves, or shows off. Literally, you do you. I love this. There's now a second location at Upper Market which is super beautiful, shiny, and new! Both locations have top of the line equipment. Thank you, Flagship Crossfit! Rock on. read more

Flagship - Trainers Near Me - San Francisco, California

I dropped into this Box b/c it was close to my hotel back in May when I came to SF to visit friends..The coach Andy was very welcoming and I had a great class. Fast forward to June I got a long work project in SF so decided to join Flagship Crossfit and I'm glad I did. Its been over 2 months and I still love coming here. All the coaches are great and each one helped me improve in different ways: Coach Zache with foot positioning and Jerks Coach Matt with strength - I got a new PR deadlift Coach Forest with Push press and shoulder work Coach Will with mobility I dont usu get up early enough to go to the other coaches' classes but Vince, Andy and Nicole are all awesome!!!! I notice the little progresses and its thanks the team at Flagship for their attentiveness and friendliness that keeps me coming back. Crossfit requires a lot of hard work and effort. If you're willing to put in the effort, the coaches will make sure you succeed!!! read more

Pros: Nice coaches and workout sessions. Good equipment Clean washrooms and gym Friendly assistants Cons: New member series is a waste of time (3 days) for people who are regular Crossfitters Weirdly they don't share WiFi pwd for members At $300 at month, it's pretty expensive Would love student discounts. read more

CrossFit perfection: I got in pretty worried knowing that CrossFit is for monster-men, shirtless and ripped, cleaning 160lbs daily and, more importantly, knowing how to understand strange abbreviations like AMRAP or EMOM. These guys however got my worries out the windows and within weeks got me to the best shape of my life. They are kind, patient and caring. The variety of studios (3 in the city) and classes (WOD/Peak, strength, conditioning, etc) allows you to diversify and personalize things. I found myself hooked pretty quickly, visiting almost daily, at times before work or after at the FiDi location, and at times (weekends, evenings) closer to home at the Upper Market one. The coaches are smiley and encouraging, the workouts are easy to modify and the community is tight and supportive I couldn't ask for a better introduction to the CrossFit world and a more supportive crew to train with. Their approach to every person as an athlete is unique and worth the time, effort and investment Join the FitFam! ;) read more

I've had the opportunity to drop-in to Flagship twice now. I get to travel to San Francisco a few times a year and this is the closest Crossfit gym to my office. I've attended the 6am class only. The drop-in price is steep $30/class but that's the price you pay in SF I suppose! I will say that the members aren't quick to say hello, and I usually have to seek out the coach to introduce myself on my own, but hey, it's 6am... Once I let the coach know that I've already registered for class and that I have experience, they always make sure that I'm set up. If I need help with modifications, they are quick to help me when I ask what the intention of the workout is. I have no shame, so I will always work my way into partnering with local members. The class warms up together and then goes though some sort of strength component. We did 3 second pause squats on my first visit, and muscle up progressions my last. Both coaches (sorry, names escape me) made me feel very safe and confident to work through things based on my ability and weren't afraid to scale me. I love that. The WODs are great, the staff is well educated and invested in their members...well done. read more

On my third month of Crossfit. I came to this place hoping to get a bit faster for Basketball. This place gets a 5 star review for a couple reasons below. Time efficient - Having a 9-5 can be tough when you're juggling other responsibilities. The classes here are only a hour a piece which makes you think "Oh, I might be able to survive for an hour" -_-. Anyways, I really appreciate the amount of HIIT you get from being here. They offer a variety of classes at peak hours so it works out just fine whenever you want to drop in. Wtih that, you get time to dedicate to your friends, family, hobbies, etc. which is indispensable. Results - The output have been great. All the muscle confusion provided from their variety of "Workouts of the Day" let me not think about what I need to plan for. While I'm a firm believer in 70% of your diet being how you want to look, Flagship helps you cover with the other 30%. As mentioned earlier, I came seeking to get myself faster as I had strong calves and thighs, but didn't exactly have the knees to support it. Doing various exercises like low weight squats, box jumps, etc. helped me become more springy in my game where I'm a lot more confident executing certain movements. Coaches - Above all, the coaches. Quick shout out to Deb, Caleb, Will, Nikolas for always holding it down at Flagship Financial. They are teachers in their own ways but drive towards the same positive results. Always approachable and trying to help myself and other crossfit-ees (that's not the vernacular) with better form and technique. Very few complaints about this place. Maybe the only thing would be the app used to manage your account but it gets the job done! Bonuses: If you're lucky, you may get to pet a dog. read more

I just completed my first full week at flagship and it was an amazing yet challenging experience. I was required to go through the new member series and initially I wasn't so stoked about it because I've done a few CrossFit classes prior. However, I must say that the new member series is a must even for the most advanced athletes. Caleb was our instructor and he was great at showing us all the right techniques and form. He always recognized when we were getting tired before we even realized we were getting tired and knew how to help us re-group so we didn't injure ourselves. I'm excited to see what else flagship has to offer! read more

I've done CrossFit at 'boxes' in Colorado, Texas, and New Orleans. They're all good. Flagship transcends them. It's a stunning experience. If you're searching for Crossfit and haven't tried it, sign up for the intro course at Flagship (either the Financial District @ 250 Montgomery or Upper Market (Church near the Safeway). I started Crossfit several years ago to help heal up and strengthen a swimmer's shoulder and have become a total convert. What sets Flagship apart is A) Quality of the coaches. Stellar coaching and coaches who are present and pay attention during workouts are a dividing line between good and *great* Crossfit experiences. B) Flagship uses a rules-based approach that is fantastic for people learning to master the basic movements on which most CrossFit exercises are based. Flagship accepts that we come in at all levels and abilities. The coaches remind the athletes (we clients) constantly to adhere to the rules on form (toes pointed forward, knees out, proper hollow/arch for kipping, and on and on). You do not have to know these movements. The coaches will walk you through the basics, show you how to scale as you learn, and even (just as in swimming), physically help you find the right positions. Super helpful for people like me who aren't all that graceful or athletic. You'd be surprised how many Crossfit gyms let this go. C) And this is the most important. Everything at Flagship is *organized*. We do an organized warmup *as a group* (most gyms just post a 'warmup' on the board), we do the workout as a group, and then the metcon as a group. In particular, I think adding a lot of WOD workouts as organized activities is stellar -- like doing EMOMS (every minute on the minute) for back squats or cleans, etc. After the workout, the coaches put the class through post-workout mobility exercises *as a group*. This is incredible and done nowhere else in my experience. Especially as we get older, mobility is the key and doing it right after a big workout is the best time. This organization keeps athletes on point and *makes us do the work*. Another huge benefit of Crossfit -- you're in and out in an hour and in that hour, you do the work, learn new skills, and get harder, leaner, stronger, and more flexible in the process : ) I can't say enough great things about the 'Flagship Way.' Give it a try. (And no, I don't work there, am not an investor, and have no connection other that I'm a client who works out mainly at the FiDi location (250 Montgomery St). read more

Very pleased to find this gym (right by office) after moving to SF. The facilities and coaches are top-notch -- extremely knowledgeable and skilled. Best part is the variety of classes -- in addition to the normal CF "performance" classes, the "conditioning" (and other) classes are a good change of pace. Highly recommend this gym for all types and experience levels! read more

One of my best friends has been going to Flagship (mostly Upper Market, but sometimes in FiDi) for about 3 years and recommended it highly. My husband and I took up Flagship's offer of a free trial conditioning class and had such a good, effective, and efficient workout that we signed up for the on-ramp introductory course and month of unlimited classes for $199. What a good deal! This is better than other crossfit gyms in the area (I did my research before choosing Flagship). We fell in love with the clean facilities, the welcoming feeling of the place, the well-done classes, and the coaches who pay attention to your alignment etc so that you do the movements correctly and don't injure yourself. Crossfit in general involves a steep learning curve for those of us who have no background in gymnastics or weightlifting, but you know, I'm having such a good time learning new things and getting stronger and leaner that it's more an exciting challenge than a turn-off. You know it's a good place when people bring their babies and dogs (I've only seen a couple, so don't worry, it's not overwhelming). We're getting our money's worth by going roughly 3 times a week. We plan to continue our membership here and look forward to joining more community events such as the upcoming Biceps and Buns workout and food event. read more

Flagship CrossFit is a great, well run facility. It has top of the line, new equipment, is super clean and organized and has really convenient class times. There are showers and towels, and it is centrally located in the Financial District. The best part of Flagship CrossFit is their head coach, Will Sockolov. Will is meticulous about form and mobility. When I hear people say they get injured from CrossFit, I tell them they are just going to the wrong place. I have so many less injuries doing CrossFit than I did just doing cardio all the time, because Will watches my form so closely, corrects me and makes me do it right! I highly recommend Will Sockolov and Flagship CrossFit! read more

Honestly going into this I was terrified. I was a moderately out of shape 36 year old who hadn't been keeping up with my running or much in the way of strenuous activity. I was afraid that I was going to be in an environment where a bunch of yolked dudes would be laughing at the fact that I couldn't do all my resp with an empty barbell (which is pretty much where I started). I was also wary of the "cult of crossfit" that I had heard about and was afraid that if I didn't buy into every element of this total lifestyle change I was going to be shunned. Not even remotely what it was like. From the moment I got there it was clear that the coaches were more concerned with making sure that I did the movements right than how many pounds for my max rep. They are clearly dedicated to what they do but it's not about ramming a different lifestyle down your throat (no one has preached at me about the paleo diet or questioned why I didn't show up for a workout on any given day). It's an intense, but supportive, hour in my day. It is a little pricier than other ones in the city- but in addition to the excellent service you're paying for a location that makes doing your WOD before work incredibly convenient and they've got shower facilities for cleaning up afterwards. read more

I recently moved up to SF for work and was on the hunt for a new crossfit gym. I found this one across from my office and it's a gem. After 3 years of doing crossfit and going to multiple gyms, there are 3 things about this gym that stands out #1. Attention to form. I have no idea that I was squatting too low with my back rounded and my toes out. I appreciate the relentless reminders from my coaches to improve my form #2. Time for mobility. I enjoy that the class allocates time for mobility and partner smashing of tight muscles. I am a busy individual with no time to do copious stretching at home. I do find that my body is less prone to injury thanks to the added mobility work. #3. Programming. While I have absolutely no chance to be the next Froning or Ben Smith, I appreciate the challenging programming with occasional rope climbs, muscle up, pistol and handstand push-up. Scale if you have to but it's nice to put in difficult movements so that I can strive to improve as an athlete. Improvement? Hmmm... More bathroom stalls? Having towels service is definitely heavenly tho! A++! read more

I've been a member at Flagship Crossfit for 9 months now, and I've been going 2-3 times a week. Sometimes 4. If I leave town and skip a few days I can tell something's missing. I'm now sort of addicted to it. Initially I joined to drop some weight. Wanted to be lighter on the court. I play tennis at the 4.0 - 4.5 level. My weight dropped from 201lbs to 186lbs = 15lbs in 4 months. I thought, great. I can go now. But then I stayed and kept going for the workouts. Another positive side effect was that my right shoulder's mobility improved. I had had pain from serving, but now it's almost completely gone. I don't get tired easily and my core is stronger. Helps my biking endurance, too. The trainers at Crossfit are cool and knowledgeable. Instructions start and end on time. Every workout is different. Every time. Great investment and fun place. read more

I've dropped in to over 30 boxes in my travels since starting Crossfit, and I'm proud to call Flagship my home box! I joined right when this box opened, and haven't regretted it once. I don't get in as often as I would like, but the programming is top notch (you can even follow it while you travel because they use the Wodify software and app). Coaches keep incredibly high standards, classes are kept to reasonable numbers, and the equipment is good quality (I whined about dumbbell weights once, and next time I came in they had a bigger selection!). Sure, it's a little expensive, but a) it's an investment in your health, b) its WAY cheaper than personal training and I've had many classes with less than 5 students, and c) this is the FINANCIAL DISTRICT of SF (one of the most expensive cities in the world). I think we're a pretty welcoming crew, so be sure to drop in if you're in town visiting or, if you're just looking to get started, don't be intimidated - just try it and you'll be hooked! read more

Great location in the FiDi, which is like 1.5 blocks from my office. All new, nice equipment. Big open space downstairs. I joined right when they opened and they are a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I had a shoulder injury (not from this Crossfit gym) that I had been nursing. The coaches were helpful in finding ways for me to work out while going easy on that shoulder. When I took 2 months off to formally rehab that old injury, the coaches were supportive and would check in with me on email. I thought that was cool and showed that they cared. Stuff like that builds loyalty to a team. I've recommended the gym to a few of my coworkers and they've been coming in for their training/onramp classes. read more

I moved to SF in January, and my first order of business was to find a Crossfit box that was low in bro-ness, high in friendliness and conveniently located. Checkcheckcheck. I had only been doing crossfit for six months prior, but had been a little burned on other, less winning boxes. Flagship is full of incredibly friendly people - both the coaches and other crossfitters. The coaches are welcoming, knowledgeable and excellent at pushing you to improve safely but successfully - without Matt, Will, Zach and Forrest (my nighttime guys!), i'd probably still be wimping out on ring rows and just the training bar over a year later. Sadly, I switched jobs and had to move geographically farther away from Flagship, but I just couldn't stay away. it's completely worth the extra travel time, and the BEST part of my day :) read more

Love this box and my noon crew! My perspective is best for those thinking about crossfit for the first time. I'm about 8 months into it now with Flagship and couldn't be happier with the sport and with the staff and facilities here. I have never been a gym guy and have always preferred body weight works outs, running, basketball, rugby etc. Decided I needed more overall strength and liked the idea of varied workouts, getting back to lifting (last time was high school) and working out with some like-minded people. The sport is humbling as hell. Fortunately everyone kept encouraging me to stick it out for a few months and promised it would start coming together. It did exactly as promised. The instructors are on your form all the time until you get it right (thanks Vince and Will and Deb!). And it kept me safe and got me rather quickly to the point of doing the lifts without constant reminders about form. My strength and mobility are dramatically improved from just a few months ago and the PRs keep coming. I love my noon workout crew. Many of the same faces each day. No one is agro or obnoxious. Professionals mostly who encourage and push each other. It's fun, hard, challenging and I look forward to it every day. The crew here can take you far if you want to compete. They welcome drop-ins from other boxes and have everything you need here. Showers and towel service are a huge plus too. Check it out! read more

I started doing CrossFit when this gym opened! I had heard about CrossFit and a friend of mine had suggested I do it because he had such a great experience with it, so I thought...let's give it a try.... So glad I did!! The coaches are awesome, the people are friendly and the facility is GREAT! The coaches know what they are talking about and are willing to give you pointers on how to improve and what to work on. The majority of the people are from the financial district area, mostly because everyone will go right before work starts, during lunch time, or right after work. The facility is SUPER convenient! AND it's in pretty top notch shape (plus there are showers, which is a HUGE perk). I've been there now for 10 months, and it's awesome. I've gotten stronger and faster and the results show! I would definitely recommend people dropping in or buying membership to this gym. It is 100% worth every single penny. Thanks Flagship Team! read more

If you have real fitness goals, there is no other place to go besides Flagship. The coaches are unparalleled to anything I have ever experienced with a plethora of knowledge about the human body, muscle activation and form. If you are struggling due to a sports injury, they will provide strategies and aid to speed your recovery via mobility. If you are trying to take your fitness to the next level or break a plateau, Flagship will get you there. Although it may cost a nickle and dime, the quality of instruction is worth every penny. The extreme growth is testament of the user experience and quality of instruction. In the busiest time of the day in the busiest time of the year, classes are still open with spots available! If you are weary like I initially was, try it out for a month a make your decision then. Hope this helps! read more

I am a bit puzzled by some of the negative reviews because I have not experienced any of the negativity that others mention (e.g. drill sergeant / elitist coaches, etc.) I am by no means a great athlete nor am I someone in need of losing 50 lbs. - I would consider myself an average Joe off of the street looking to make a serious change in my fitness lifestyle. The coaches have been nothing but helpful, patient, supportive, etc. of me thus far. They never have once tried to push weight on me or anyone in the class. In fact, I would note that the coaches spend more time with the beginners in each class because someone who can tear off 20+ pull-ups in row or can dead lift a car does not exactly need the same level of coaching / encouragement / care as a beginner. I have always struggled with chronically tight hip flexors that wreak havoc on my lower back; however, I feel the best the days / weeks that I am consistently doing CrossFit. It is literally night and day. The coaches always always stress proper form and will get on your case (albeit positively) if you are doing something "wrong" in order to prevent injury. And at the end of each class, the coaches typically make everyone stretch quite a lot, which is great especially for people like me. I have nothing but positive things to say about Flagship. read more

Great box. I was in town for about a week and dropped in a few times - three times at the Financial District location, and once at the Upper Market location (Saturday morning). I dropped in at 8am on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at the FiDi branch, and at 9am at the UM branch. The classes during the week all had around ten people, and the Saturday class had about 15-20 people. The coaches were extremely knowledgeable and attentive, and provided specific, constructive feedback and pointers. I felt comfortable and, most importantly, safe under their instruction. Classes are run efficiently, with every minute put to good use. The coaches made sure that everybody started their mobility at the end of the class at more or less at the same time, and it was great to see that mobility was treated with importance, not just as an addendum to the end of the workout. The members were all very friendly and it felt like a nice community. This is the most important part of my review, and if I were to live in San Francisco or be here for a longer stay, Flagship would definitely be the gym I'd go to. On the more logistical, physical side: The Financial District branch is in an excellent, accessible location. The gym is very clean and very organized with top-notch equipment. There are towels, showers, and cubbies for use, as well as merchandise and food for sale. The space isn't that big (compared to gyms in non-metropolitan cities or towns), but because everything was so organized, there was more than enough room for everyone to be comfortable. The Upper Market branch just opened this month, and I'm very impressed with what they've been able to do with the location so early on. It's a lot more spacious, has a lot more lighting (with big windows), and it's a two-story gym. The space hasn't been completely filled out yet, so there's still a lot of room for improvement on that front, but I'm sure that it'll be at the same level as the FiDi branch. Note that there are no towels and only one shower (for both sexes) at the gym. I also don't believe there were changing rooms, only bathrooms. I think these drawbacks will be addressed pretty soon anyway, so take this part with a grain of salt. It's just a quick heads-up and it didn't really detract from the experience anyway. read more

Obsessed. Its pretty much the only way to describe how i feel about this box. I am no stranger to gyms, working out, or group exercise in general. Over the past 10 years I have done a lot of different workouts from running to taking gym group exercise classes to bootcamps to running to yoga/pilates and even taught at various boutique exercise studios. So, with all of that data, I can safely say I have never enjoyed a workout or been so impressed with coaching as I am with flagship. People love to say you get "injured" doing Crossfit. But I truly believe that wont happen at Flagship unless your ego gets in your way and causes you to do something stupid. There is no pressure to lift heavier than is right for you/your body and where you are in your own development. The coaches are incredibly knowledgable and they focus on form above all else. In addition the the great coaches, there is also a wonderful sense of community, the facilities are beautiful and clean, and the programming is fun and challenging! I joined 3 months ago with the intention of doing the unlimited month and then switching to a 10 class pack. But by the end of the month I was hooked and couldn't imagine that a class or 2 a week would be enough. I signed up for the unlimited monthly, committed to 6 months, and haven't looked back since. read more

Fantastic box - great facility and really friendly, inclusive and supportive members, but hands down the thing that sets this above all else is the quality of the coaching, which is superb. My Flagship experience has been one that has inspired me to get even more into my fitness: train more often, eat better and take better care of my form and mobility. I am positive that it is the atmosphere of the box and the knowledge and enthusiasm of the coaches that has driven this. I really can't recommend this Box enough. read more

I've been a member at flagship pretty much since it opened. It's a fantastic box. The coaches take their jobs seriously, work hard to correct mistakes in form and always provide the right level of positive encouragement and pushing you hard to get better. The location is awesome if you work anywhere near downtown SF. They've got classes all day and the community is amazing. I got to the 6am classes and we've got a great group of men and women that are friendly, encouraging and competitive all at the same time. And the results speak for themselves. I'm stronger (set PRs consistently), more flexible and in better shape than I've ever been. I haven't suffered an injury yet and unlike a lot of boxes, the flagship coaches actually incorporate post box mobility work into every WOD. If you want to get real, professional coaching and true value for the money, flagship is a great crossfit option. read more

I just wanted to give a shout out to Vince and Forrest. They are the coaches in the classes I've been attending. I played in a volleyball tournament this past weekend and I noticed that my body is a lot stronger than the last time I played. To add to that, it's been over 8 months since my last tourney and it felt good to be back on the court. There's normal soreness but less than previous tournaments. Overall, I'm very happy and I actually saw results on the court from training at Flagship Crossfit. read more

I'd been on the hunt for a Crossfit box in San Francisco when I stumbled into Flagship. I've gone to quite a few boxes, and I've never been so impressed with the instruction. The coaches are great and incredibly knowledgeable. The other members are encouraging and push you to do your best. In fact, I was lucky enough to find someone who keeps me accountable each week (especially when I try to make excuses not to go...). While crossfit can be intimidating, I definitely suggest stopping in and checking out Flagship. For first timers there is a fundamentals class which is taught very thoroughly. They also offer more cardio based classes or olympic lifting (at their Market street location). Evening classes fill up quickly, so sign up in advance if you are interested in the 5, 5:30, or 6pm classes. read more

I LOVE THIS BOX! I've been with Flagship for about four months now and have been a part of two other boxes. After a year and a half of Crossfit (prior to flagship) you'd think that you'd know how to do the movements well, but the coaches here pay so much attention (even when classes are maxed) that they spot every little detail to improve yourself. The community is solid and I look forward to my workouts every day :-). PS: Shoutout to Coach Vincent. I've had the largest measurable gains due to his coaching! read more

This place is like a crossfit speakeasy. Located deep in the bowels of a building in the financial district, you wouldn't know it's there if you weren't looking for it. Overall a great place. I've dropped in twice and found the coaches to be solid, and the facility very nice. It's a bit spendy but I'm guessing that's San Francisco pricing. I don't think I'd be a member if I lived in SF as due to its location, the place has no windows and zero ventilation, so it's dark and can get really muggy when there are three classes going at once. OK, that's my other beef--The quarters can be a bit tight when they have three classes going at once. But overall a good place, at least to drop in to. read more

I have LOVED my experience at Flagship thus far. I entered as a novice (with some general weight lifting experience). My fundamental course was comprehensive and each of the coaches I had was very knowledge (and enthusiastic) and were good teachers. After the intro week I felt like I had enough information to enter the regular classes - although I was still nervous b/c I was such a newbie. The regular classes have been challenging in a good way. I go to the mid day classes so they are pretty small and I always get good attention/pointers/cues. I always leave feeling like I am getting at least a little better. I feel like the coaches (my favs: Vincent, Will, and Sam) really pay attention to good form and want you to progress in a safe way. The WODs are always hard but are well thought out and have been leaving me feeling exhausted but excited for the next day. CrossFit is intimidating (at any box) - they aren't there to coddle or listen to excuses - you can't come in with a huge ego - that being said, everyone at this box has been really nice. They make you say hi to people in the class that you don't know so you get to know people and can cheer/support each other and the coaches started calling me by name immediately. Overall I am thrilled to have joined this community and I am excited to see where I am in a couple of months!! read more

I have been doing crossfit for 2 years and these are the best facilities and coaching I have experienced to date. Each coach has their strengths (mobility expert, Olympic, diet expertise, etc.) that allows a very well rounded gym. The facilities are meticulously cleaned and at the upper market location provide quite the view of Duboce. My highest recommendations. read more

I had been doing Crossfit at other gyms for about a year and a half when I joined Flagship. I tried other gyms in the San Francisco area when I moved here and liked Flagship the best. Their space is huge, their workouts are tough, and the community is really welcoming. I love that we introduce ourselves to new people at the beginning of every class. I feel like there is always at least one person (usually more since I am still new) that I don't know and it's nice to get the chance to meet them. The workouts are definitely more intense than other gyms I have been to but I feel like I consistently improve in terms of strength and cardio so it seems to be working for me. I do wish we had more time to mobilize/stretch at the beginning of classes. Overall I have really enjoyed my experience so far! read more
