Simple dining room, clean. Adequate wall art, very dark colors and low lights.

Well, let me start by saying, this is not the standard. I would have given five stars (at least 4) any other time we've been here. We have probably frequented this establishment about 25-40 times. Over the years it's been solidly standout. However, today was the exception. I will say it was a bit busy, but no wait. Most of the tables were full, but we got seated right away. Service was a bit slow to start but that's understandable, as it was hopping. After the initial meet the server, she was quite timely. However, still love the place, and everyone has off days. The pizza wasn't as good as usual, either. However, we'll be back, of course.

The food here was awful. The pasta was extremely watery and flavorless. The bread was plain. I enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms only because the sauce tasted like my favorite soup from the grocery store (it tasted too familiar). There was also a bunch of random chairs and tables stacked where they seated us; not very eye appealing. I will definitely not be coming back here nor will I recommend this place to friends and family. I'm honestly shocked they're still in business.

Luigis is a local Italian favorite in Mattoon, IL. They provide free homemade bread rolls, which are pretty tasty. It's even tastier when dipped in their Olive Oil, Garlic, and Basil sauce (aka "OGB"). If you're a fan of raw garlic and bread, then make sure you order the "OGB" cause you won't be disappointed. Their pizza is alright, could be cooked a little bit more as the dough in the center was not as crispy. Kids spaghetti was pretty much standard and generic. Next time, I plan on ordering an entree dish. For the longest time, they only accepted cash, but they now accept credit card.

Wonderful Food, Wonderful Service, Wonderful Atmosphere. We were here last year & Luigi's was the must stop for us this trip.

If you live here you may already know about this place, but if you are traveling on I-57 or if you are stopping for the night in Mattoon, IL, then get you a little cash and get ready for a treat. Yes, you need cash because the sign on the door still says "cash or check only " when we ate there in July 2018. The bread that came out after we were seated was a little stale and chewy instead of the soft bread we've gotten at many Italian restaurants these days, but it just didn't matter once the entree was presented. Luigi's knows it's way around a variety of sauces and I can't imagine any of them will not be a delight. We tried two: Tortellini Alla Panna in a cream sauce with a touch of marinara and Chicken Albanese in a brandy cream sauce and they were both very rich and so delicious. The salad that is included with the meal was fresh and I enjoyed their house dressing. Menu prices seem very reasonable with many choices at $10 and a lot of others at $12-13. The portions are generous and my wife blew my mind by taking about half of her Tortellini Alla Panna back to the hotel and reheating it in the microwave the next morning for breakfast! I think she really liked it. The interior is comfortable with booths and tables. Service was very attentive and friendly. Parking is curbside as they are located downtown. If I lived here this would have to be a regular weekly treat of exploring all that their menu has to offer.

Solid enough Midwest red sauce joint in a cute old downtown. Hey some lunch while your charge your car for free at LIFT.

Food and service were excellent. Very accommodating for our large group. I had beef ravioli, salad, and bread. All were delicious.

We have a lot of nostalgic family memories and get togethers in the Monical's across our region. Monical's are usually pretty cozy and comfortable with a warm, family vibe. Sometimes they can get crowded, but, we were here for an after noon lunch date. Or server, Ecin, was quite nice, friendly and interactive. He made us laugh and took good care of us. We got the "pleaser for 2", which is the pizza of choice and includes a salad and our drinks. We chose the Florentine pizza plus pineapple. I know, I know, hot topic. Pineapple is a go for us as it is one of Wifey's favorite foods and I think she would eat it on anything. But we both give it a thumbs up on our pizzas! My coffee was a little bit old, but I'm used to it. It wasn't bad, just a little old. The salads are carrot slices, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. Basic but solid. The pizza is a thin crust (I think they have others, but, we've never even tried it. My father once described it as pizza in a cracker, and, while understand why he said that (he's not a fan), it's just so much more than that. Anyway, that's the deal. Looking great here, tasting excellent.
