We love it there every time we go, pizza is always amazing and served with salad, very clean, food was very, very slow coming out for just us ordering a pizza and salad and drinks, waitress hardly checked on us or kept us up dated on our pizza, it was almost an hour when we finally received it, it wasn't too busy so didn't know what the hold up was but food very good, updates need to be a little more and checked on for refills. It took them an hour to realize they forgot my pizza. They did not refill my drink until an hour and half later when they brought the pizza they finally made. I tipped them and management did not come to the table at all. They were dead when we walked in and they did zero to compensate or apologize. Save your money on this overpriced pizza. read more

If I could I would have put zero stars. Pizza is always burnt, even if you ask for it to be lightly cooked. When asking for toppings on half of the pizza, the proportions are awful, it's more like 1/4 to 3/4 rather than 1/2 to 1/2. On top of that, the pepperolis are wildly inconsistent, sometimes being burnt and other times having raw dough in the middle. Incredibly overpriced, NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY. You're much better off going to another nearby location such as Charleston. read more

It's been many years since I've eaten here, and the quality of food is still good. The customer service and employees were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond. The inside of the restaurant was very nice and clean and there's plenty of parking in the parking lot. read more

I will say the first time I ate here a few months ago for the first time the food was great, but that last few times we have ordered the pizza is not done and the breadsticks were hard as rocks. I dont like giving bad reviews, but something needs to be done. I will wait a few more months or longer and try again. Hopefully, something has been done. read more

Me and my family set for over an hour with trash on our table never got out pizza three other table came in after us and got all of the food before us and when our pizza finally came out it was not even correct. I will never come back. Service was horrible. Very un happy. They charged me full price and no discounts on my salad and drinks and breadsticks. Have you had a pizza that's come in a delivery box (yes)? Notice the sauce and cheese residue left over on the thin greasy card board (yes)? That is the equivalent to Monicals Pizza.. And that's not just the Mattoon one, that's ALL of them. Sorry Mattoon I dine here often so you're getting it. Let's move on to the bread sticks.. who likes bread sticks (raises hand)? Let's take spongy bread cover it in salt and call it a bread stick then. Do I dip it in marinara or nacho/pretzel cheese!? Who knows? The dry spongy tastelessness reminds me of stale lunch-able Italian dunkers (remember those). I'm telling you I bet it comes frozen. Back to the pizza, who enjoys the tiny squares? If I'm eating pizza it's typically a night I argued last minute with my wife where we are going to eat, then pizza comes up, then we order it, have to go pick it up, bring it home, pour our drinks, find a show (let's not get into that), then finally taking a bite of the tiniest square of pizza.. I'm disgraced, I'm appalled, and I'm not impressed. You people think you like it, but what it really is is the sauce you cake on each jig saw slice of pizza. It's French salad dressing people with more sugar. It's an illusion and y'all are forgetting ranch always wins with pizza. Y'all ever ask yourself why doesn't it come in a box? They wrap it in tinfoil (so the cheese sticks to the top) then place it in a paper bag. Shoulda been your first sign.. Let's wrap it up, if you consider buying there pan pizza just go to little Caesars. Had excellent service. Our Waitress's name was Reagan she always kept up on our drinks and checked in periodically. Good pizza and breadsticks as always. Monical's is a local chain; so if you're from out of town I would recommend you try it. As soon as we were done eating she brought us our check. Although pricey, Monical's pizza is VERY good. If you are with two or mo people, I would recommend the family pleaser which offers a gigantic bowl of salad, pitcher of your drink of choice, and a huge pizza. Depending on your company, you might leave with leftovers. Also, I would definitely try their French dressing. I was hesitant at first but I found myself dipping my pizza in it and buying a bottle for home! It can get very busy in the evenings(sit then order) however lunch is usually no problem to get right in (order then sit). read more

My family usually goes here when I am visiting, and we have never gotten anything bad. Until this happened: We all get the pizza and the salad that is always excellent. My grandma decides to order spaghetti and meatballs. They bring the spaghetti out, and they say that the meatballs will be out shortly. Which is strange, because 5 minutes later (not very short), they bring out some odd looking meatballs. My grandma takes a bite of one AND SHE GOES INTO THE BATHROOM AND THROWS IT UP. They gave us BAD MEAT here. We went up to them and told them what happened, and they said "Oh, well I guess I could take the meatballs off of the bill..." I love Monicals and I will visit any other location EXCEPT this one. Hubby and I went here for my birthday. We were taken to a dirty booth, then our waitress never came to take our drink order. She helped every other table except ours. So before we left (never being served) we let the other staff know what happened. Their response? "She's new here." I responded with "that's not an excuse" and was given a shoulder shrug and ignored. I tried to call the manager for two days and was told they weren't there, so I left my name and # (after asking them to take my info) and was never called. Great way to keep customers! read more

Average Midwest pizza restaurant with local decor. Salads were basic iceberg lettuce, tomatoes & carrots. Pan pizza was a customized Degorno's. Beer selection was Bud, Miller & Corona light. Service was friendly but slow. This is an OK place for passing through town, but not worth going out of your way for. read more

We just ordered a large pizza and breadsticks from the Mattoon Monical's. We were told we could pick it up in 25 minutes. Great. It was ready when we arrived. Great. When we served it, it was so undercooked that we had to microwave it just to choke it down. I understand that they were busy, but it is unacceptable to sell food that isn't fit to eat.
