This is a chain restaurant, but not a national chain and it's always been a family favorite and one of our stand bys. We have a lot of nostalgic family memories and get togethers in the Monical's across our region. Monical's are usually pretty cozy and comfortable with a warm, family vibe. Sometimes they can get crowded, but, we were here for an after noon lunch date. Or server, Ecin, was quite nice, friendly and interactive. He made us laugh and took good care of us. We got the "pleaser for 2", which is the pizza of choice and includes a salad and our drinks. We chose the Florentine pizza plus pineapple. I know, I know, hot topic. Pineapple is a go for us as it is one of Wifey's favorite foods and I think she would eat it on anything. But we both give it a thumbs up on our pizzas! My coffee was a little bit old, but I'm used to it. It wasn't bad, just a little old. The salads are carrot slices, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. Basic but solid. The pizza is a thin crust (I think they have others, but, we've never even tried it. My father once described it as pizza in a cracker, and, while understand why he said that (he's not a fan), it's just so much more than that. Anyway, that's the deal. DO NOT GET THE BREADSTICKS!! The pizza is not bad. The atmosphere as a whole is just unsanitary. When our starters came out I was just baffled, I kid you not the "breadsticks" was a loaf of bread with lines through them. Then we were given garlic bread. We love Monical's! I especially love their point sauce! They are my favorite pizza place in town. Dining in is great and you are usually attended to pretty quickly. We also get it delivered, and that's always been lovely too! read more

Classic thin crust pizza. Grab the Family Pleaser and add the Red Dressing to your salad or dunk your breadsticks in. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and quick. The inside is clean, and classic. Over all this pizza really is yummy, but that's not all they have. read more

Monical's Pizza is great for the Central Illinois area - some of the most realistic pizza around. The flavors are all superb as is the crispy thin crust. It reminds me of the old "Joe's Pizza" (60's and 70's) that used to be located on Commercial Ave at 27th street, in Mattoon, in the old house on the north side of that intersection, which was some of the best pizza anywhere. It had anise, or fennel, seasoning that gave it a bit of a licorice flavor combined with the flavors similar to Monical's Pizza, but with a bit thicker, stringier cheese. No... Monicle's Pizza doesn't compare to the deep dish pizza of Chicago (a la Pizzaria Uno, or Lou Malnati's), but it is great for crispy, thin crust pizza. Though, I would say the Monical's Pizza location in Charleston has the best of Monical's Pizza in the area, including Champaign. They just do it better than the rest, and the service is superior also. All I would add is some anise or fennel seasoning (prolly in an extract form) - and it would be about as good as Joe's Pizza from years past. read more

Imo's, you met your match!!! Since I constantly see Monicals around central Illinois, I figured I would finally try one out. The pictures online of their pizzas looked nice, but that was about it. I ordered a medium cheese and sausage pizza with a coke, and that totalled $18.00, which I think is extremely expensive for a "medium". As for the pizza, I think that the basil and garlic salt are used to cover up the rather bland taste of the other ingredients. The sausage had no flavor, the cheese almost tasted like that Provel stuff and the crust was so thin that it had no flavor (and I like thin crust pizzas as well). The only positive thing about the pizza was the crust being a little well done, which gave it a nice "first bite taste". But the rest of the bites went downhill from there. This is just not a good pizza, period. I see Monicals all over, but they always seem empty. Now I know why. read more

Monicals is the best pizza. There's a reason they've won awards at pizza competitions. A little on the pricey side, but completely worth it. It's cooked on a brick oven and perfectly thin and crispy. read more

Monicals's one of my favorite pizza places. When we come home to Charleston, it's a must have. Crispy crust, cornmeal, and those awesome squares. Madi served us, friendly and fast, even brought us some Monicals French dressing to enjoy on our pizza. read more

Not as good as other Monical's around. They always forget something when we order to go. The whole meal is usually over cooked. It's not terrible but it's not great either. Customer service is usually pretty good but sometimes they rush you. I give it three stars. read more

Terrible service to a veteran family on Memorial Day. Mouthy employees right in front of the manager who said or did nothing. Unbelievable way to treat customers. Will definitely be reaching out to corporate. Good pizza does not outweigh terrible customer service. My big beef with Monicals is that they decided to deliver out to my area, which I appreciate much, but one of their delivery boys ripped me off. I gave them $40 for a 23 dollar something pizza, and the guy took off with all 40 dollars. Like he was thinking he would get a $16 tip. It was partially my fault as I was a bit drunk at the time, but when contacting them, I did not get my money back, just some coupons. I have gone to Monicals most of my life, but I'm PO'd at them right now. read more

This is a great pizza place. Awesome thin crust, atmosphere is nice now that they remodeled. They got beer with it too. Quick delivery. Can be pricey but they usually have some deals if you ask. Seems that it's under new management. read more
