I was beyond excited to find a good baby and maternity consignment store in Frederick! The store can be hard to spot since it's in a re-appropriated house instead of the usual storefront but we found it with the help of GPS (hint- look for the big silver factory or whatever it is). It could just be beginner's luck but I found exactly what I was looking for! I bought a mint condition wool peacoat, light fall sweater, and yoga pants for myself. For baby, I scored NIB Sperrys for $12 that are 3 times that price at Nordstrom or J Crew. The store is very well organized- the selection starts on your left with the maternity corner, followed by newborn clothing progressing up to toddler sizes. Head upstairs for big kid sizes and even a "juniors corner" where slimmer moms could easily find something for themselves as well. During my visit this week, Lucy's had plenty of Halloween costumes and even a few Christmas outfits ranging from red and green sleepers to fancy schmancy dresses and suits. I will definitely be checking back for Baby's first Christmas outfit! One drawback is that Lucy's does not have a fitting room or even mirrors around so you'll do better if you have an idea of what size you are in various maternity brands before going over. To me, the low prices and good condition made up for that, as well as the 7 day exchange policy (as long as you leave the store tag on). The staff is friendly and cheerful as well- ask them any questions you have!

The air conditioning clearly isn't working -- it was uncomfortable just walking around. I saw employees working in short sleeves with fans blowing on them at the registers. One even mentioned it's been like this for quite some time. It's not just unpleasant -- it feels unsafe for both staff and customers in this kind of heat. Disappointed that such a large company hasn't addressed this by now. Do better, Macy's.

Unfortunately, we later realized we had accidentally grabbed the wrong shoe size. My 7-year-old niece briefly tried the shoe on at checkout to confirm the fit, but she never walked in them, never left the checkout area, and the shoes remained completely unworn. When we asked for the manager's name, we were told that associates are not allowed to give out names. Even though the shoes were in their original condition and clearly unworn--and despite the tag being easily reattachable--the associate (Kiara) refused to allow an exchange. The situation escalated far beyond what was necessary, and we left the store with a heartbroken, crying child. To try to resolve the issue, we immediately called corporate customer service after leaving the store. Unfortunately, they were zero help as well and offered no reasonable solution or support. What should have been a simple and calm resolution turned into a very disappointing and emotional experience for our family. I would not recommend this store if you value reasonable, family-friendly customer service. Our family will not be returning to this location or shopping at this chain again.

I found 2 tee shirts and a pair of shoes for my daughter and was in line. Customer in front of me was trying to return some clothes purchased online, manager wasn't happy about it to say the least. It took forever to do the returns because they had to open each item and scan it. The woman was trying to tell her one item arrived damaged and the manager again very rudely kept cutting her off and said to the customer that it didn't matter what they said there was no way they were going to accept the return. It was so uncomfortable to witness the interaction and everyone else in line was blown away by the blatant rudeness and disrespect this manager was exhibiting. The manager reluctantly agreed to exchange it but of course couldn't find the shirt on the floor so had to go in the back to look. There was a line of 5 or so customers waiting to checkout but they only had the one checkout open. After 20 mins of standing in line I said enough, put my stuff down and said this is not worth it. I know working retail is hard and stressful but if you hate your job and customers then get a new job! My daughter was disappointed because she wanted the shirts and shoes but there is just absolutely no way I was going to give my money to that store and I'll never return.

There was two hispanic ladies at the front, one was wearing glasses and she took my bag when i asked for the return. There was a previous return before me and since I work at retail, I know that return can affect your overall sales for the day. The lady with curly hair tells the lady in glasses in spanish "i hate mondays, it's always returns after returns" So I knew somehow she was going to find an excuse for not to give me my money back. She takes my receipt and looks at my clothes and goes "sorry I cannot make this return for you because there's no tags" (The tags were in the bag, again I bought the wrong sizing since I bought these when the store was 10 minutes before closing) I told her that I had placed the tags in the bag. And without asking me what was wrong with the product or why I was even returning it, she quickly assumed that it was already used and that therefore she could not make this return for me. She threw my things in the bag and didn't even ask me anything else. I will never come back to this location, and if you can DO NOT buy if you are in a rush. This place has terrible customer service Monday afternoons. I had all the information needed to complete this return, and yet still got horribly serviced.

I ended up charging it to my debit card only to back debit (return) the items and still not see the funds back into my account. It takes some time to fit weird feet into Birkenstocks, my friends--I have weird feet and they have never felt more seen and celebrated than they did at Journeys. This is saying something because I have been to a number of specialty shoe shops be they orthopedic or fashion-forward, where staff are not just undereducated about product but focused on hustling product commission. Did you know that in a Birkenstock, a 38 narrow footbed can fit like a 37 regular footbed? It's true. Think about that. (Women understand this math mystery because we wear brassieres and similar magic is at play re sizing and girlfriends, if you did not know this, please Google and welcome to the promised land.) Did you know that a Birkenstock "soft" footbed fit-feels differently than their standard footbed fit-feels? Makes sense right? Something squishy fits differently than something structured, EVEN IN THE SAME SIZE. What I'm getting at here is that the staff at Journeys are basically benevolent scientists when it comes to sharing myriad details of fit and utility. I worked with Lauryn, who is kind and knowledgeable. When I apologized for being a mental nightmare to fit she replied, "You're fine. I love helping people." Folks, omg!!! Maybe just go to journeys to experience next-level understanding and can-do vibes. Both Lauryn and her colleague Brooklyn helped me come home to myself, in color and style, as young, fashionable women of a certain age are super good at doing. They were well aware that my lifestyle includes subways and sidewalks and walking everywhere AND they understood the importance of being cute whilst living life. I tried on eight pairs of shoes in different colors, materials and sizes. During my final moment of hesitation over the shoe I wanted, I shared that everyone in NYC has been wearing the white Arizona for at least three years. They intoned: YOU DO YOU. So I did. I walked out of Journeys with the white Birki-Flor Arizona and I am thrilled. ps: Journeys has a brilliant returns policy which is frankly phenomenal: if your shoes aren't working for your feet and they show reasonable wear, one has 365 days to return the product.
