I watched as he was stalked around the store and stared down by both employees. My boyfriend and I both look white meanwhile my brother is a traditional looking Hispanic teenage boy. He was the only person of color in that store and he was followed as if he were up to no good. This was our first time in the shop and it will definitely be our last.

As an experienced thrifter and reseller small towns are usually the best places to score vintage. I went in with high hopes of leaving with lots of goodies. I took my own bag but surprise, Maryland and Virginia Goodwill's do provide bags unlike Pa. Once inside I was greetly warmly by a lady probably in her mid 80's who was welcoming and rattled off the specials. This location was on the smaller size and had a room full of clothes, shoes, and a shelf of seasonal and just when I thought there was nothing else to see I discovered a room with everything else. This space felt unheated and was a little rough, like it was once a garage but it was full of housewares, electronics, linens, toys, and and small amount of furniture and bigger items. Along the walls were bags of misc and like items bundled together in bags. I've seen this done on thrifting videos but never live. Each bag was around $5 give or take depending on size. While the store was neat and organized this unheated space felt like an afterthought and wasn't as nice as the main store. Prices were alot higher than I'm used to in PA, but the quality was decent. I didn't see any damaged items. I also didn't see alot of the vintage I was expecting to find and walked out only with a goodie bag of crocheted doilys for $3.49 , taking a gamble that none were stained. Upon checking out I encountered the sweet older lady again, who was just as warm and friendly with her goodbye as she was her welcome. The world needs more people like her. SIDENOTE: I did not see a dressing room and other thrift stores in the area had theirs closed. Masks were also required.

Goodwill has gotten to be more of a Kmart than a thrift store since they've been taken over by…read moreGoodwill of Arizona and are no longer under the Goodwill of Maryland management. I can't understand why they must separate power cords from electronics or shades from lamps. They also separate the better quality items to sell strictly online and not in the stores. Goodwill of Maryland had a policy NOT to charge more than 40% retail and Goodwill of Arizona is consistently charging MSRP or even above. No longer a bargain.

The entire store was filled top to bottom with random odds and ends I want, but don't need, for my home. Very cool tchotchkes but also very pricy. Drawback was the hovering staff. No matter where I was, one of the two women there was somewhere nearby, straightening things that didn't need to be straightened. I was with 3 other people who didn't get the same amount of attention. Hmmm. Anyway, my friends were lingering too long, so I made my way outside.
