The only reason im giving 2 stars is because the tortas are always good but the customer service sucks. Im trying to order tortas to go and the lady from the back is yelling at us to ask what we want and i said i want to order tortas and she's like what do you want and then i said no you need to come take my order and then come to the register with an attitude and as im leaving they come behind me to see if my kids hadn't taken something and waiting for me to walk out that is very discriminating to me. I paid for bread and torta. Sad to have this horrible experience this was my go to place. But they can't even say thank you or greet there customers politely. read more

Good place to stop when your are craving a good torta. My fave is thier "torta fria" but my co-workers love their chorizo and egg for breakfast. They are always asking me to bring them some on Fridays after a long week;) read more

If you come early enough, you can find a line of men ordering various breakfast and lunch tortas for their workday. I had previously only tried the donuts​, but my Spidey sense told me there​ was something to these tortas. Wow! This place isn't in the best of neighborhoods and it looks a little ghetto on the outside (so much so you'd think the big LB painted outside stood for Long Beach and not Lupita's Bakery) but I didn't want to take a star away just because of that! I stumbled upon this place because of the Veteran's Thrift store right next door (the one with the huge red T on the roof) and decided to try it out and oh my gosh was I super impressed with the offerings! Everything looked so delicious that I bought everyone in my family a little treat (who am I kidding, I just wanted to sample everything). I picked a tiny apple pie, something filled with what looked like raspberry sauce, a cinammon roll, and apple fritter, a chocolate donut, a pineapple empanada, and my husbands fave-a bear claw. I loved the raspberry pie thingy and my husband gobbled up the bear claw so fast I don't even know if he tasted it. My little guys loved their donut and empanada and the tiny little apple pie treat was almost too cute to eat. All that for under $5 buckaroos AND I bought 2 drinks too. If you're in the 'hood and you're looking for a sweet treat, breakfast, or dessert then stop on by. Its cheap, its soooo yummy, and the selection is small but oh so good. By the way I stopped by for an after dinner panecito and took some to my momma's house and they were very much impressed with the tastiness. Went here the other day because a fellow Yelper "Rossi" gave me bad directions. I ended up in the middle of no where, next to a thrift store -- not wanting thrift clothes. But then this guy Rossi said "hey man, it's a bakery -- how can you go wrong?" So with Rossi's advice, I ended up eating some of the local delicacies in this fine metropolis neighborhood. I was greeted by a fine young girl... she said "Hola!" and I replied with "Hello!" and she replied with "Hello!" -- I felt like we were playing Vulcan mind games. I really wanted to win this game, but I choose a donut instead. I ended up getting a donut and 2 Mexican pastries (at least I think they were Mexican). I paid the young lady and I was on my way to this wonderful thing called work. While sitting in my chair, staring into space (working hard mind you) - I enjoyed these yummy treats throughout the day. Every bite was a gift from god -- at least so I thought. So basically what it boils down, I went to the wrong Lucy's. I really wanted to meet this Lucy. Lucy's Bakery/Panaderia Lucy is located in the same shopping mall as the Veteran's Thrift Store in Spring Valley. They have a small selection of pan dulce and some bolillos of average quality. I also sampled the "made to order" torta milanesa. The beans were not spread evenly across the pan, which was extremely thick and untoasted. However, the meat tasted very good. Lucy's hardly seems to be a destination to seek out. But it'll do if you're in the area and need a snackaroo. read more

Placed a phone order a day ahead for an item and I was told to come by the next day at 1:00 p.m. to pick up order and pay for it. I offered to pay over the phone in advance and I was told it wasn't necessary that I could pay at time of pick up so I said okay. I Showed up the next day to pay and pick up my order and I was told they did not have an order under my name and they didn't seem to care. I also told her how much I was told it was going to be because that's what I was quoted over the phone and she said that it was a different price but it wasn't made anyway. I explained I called ahead and made a phone order and they didn't seem to care. Made me waist my time for nothing. This Bakery used to be one of my favorites but last time I went they gave me some old hard stale bread I took it back to them and asked them if they could exchange it or give me my money back and they said NO! when I opened up the glass doors there's always flies flying around all the donuts and sweetbreads. The lady's have NO communication within them self. they're just too expensive they don't make the tortas how you asked them. Every time I asked them to cut it in half they never do it. I ask not to much hot sauce and jalapeños and they do anyways. like if they don't care how you want your food. Never again I will go to Lucy's bakery on Elkelton st. It sucks!! read more

My husband had came here with his work crew, and took me here to try their tortas. Omg they were so delicious, and so cheap! Only $4 for the one I chose, others were $3. Tons of selections of pastries as well. Employees were real nice. Only downfall for me was the employee didn't speak English and I was unfamiliar with some of the pastries, asked her and she had to get the employee from the back to help describe what was in the pastry. This is a bakery we tried on our way home. Bread was fresh and yummy! Definitely worth stopping for!

This panaderia makes the best panes stuffed with cheese, jalapeños and ham. The bread is crispy on the outside but moist and soft inside. My mouth is watering thinking of them! They also have the best champurado. It's not too sweet or thick, it's perfect. The place gets packed early with people ordering tortas. I've only had the egg, cheese, vegitables, ham, bean and jalapeños Torta and it's definitely my go to Torta now. I love this place! read more

They make some yummy doughnuts, and they aren't oily like some places. It is a simple little place that does Mexican sweet bread and cookies. I've had a sugar cookie and doughnuts from here, those I highly recommend, they are sooooo good! I've never tried anything other than that but a few others say it is good. read more

How do I say fiasco in Spanish? The only way to explain my experience is that maybe the lady baker was working her first day. After reading jack m's great review on the milanisa steak sandwich I had to go by and try it. They have several milanisa sandwiches so things were confusing from the start. Two of them looked alike but one was $5 and the other was $6. I asked the lady if they were the same and she said yes the whole time looking up at the sandwich board like it was her first time making a sandwich. I told her to make me the $5 sandwich. First thing I noticed was she made it on the wrong bread, a hard roll instead of the sesame bum. While there was plenty of tender meat the refried beans and too much chipolte sauce made the roll soggy and it came apart. When I opened the sandwich I found 2 tiny slivers of avocado. Reminded me of when I was poor and we had to cut corners. I pulled out the tiny sliver of the avocado and told the lady thanks for all the avocado in the sandwich. She then asked me where else are you gonna find a $5 sandwich with that much meat in it? Actually, she did have a good point. Waay way way way waaaay to many flies. Its scary after 12...They are all on the pastries. Some ppl dont even use the tongs or the napkins to grab the pastries. If you can catch them early its amazing. Nice ppl though. read more
