I have been to Newton-Wellesley a few times and have had a great experience every time. I was…read morerecently rushed to the ER here with appendicitis (yuck!), and the ER overnight staff did a great job caring for me. They gave me a diagnosis within 4 hours and next steps despite not having a radiologist to read my results present (they outsourced). You'll notice people in the reviews will say you might be placed in the hallway, which was the case for me, but you will see that in every hospital. The ER is always overbooked and understaffed everywhere. Over the course of the night the staff regularly checked in on me, ran all of the necessary tests, and prepped me adequately for emergency surgery the next morning. The staff was truly exceptional, the surgical teams are incredible here. My surgery went flawlessly and they also did a great job with post-op follow ups, calling me promptly and scheduling my 2-week post op check in ASAP. During my surgery, they kept my contacts in the loop throughout the process. I thank everyone who helped me here at Newton-Wellesley and highly recommend choosing this hospital.

Or just a couple miles from the pike. Limited parking at the entrance for handicap and some charging spots. Usually those are taken so you have to go to the lower parking spot and walk up a ton of stairs. There's also the option to valet which is $12 or only $4 if you have a handicap placard. To get to the lab/imaging location, when entering turn right after the check-in station, then go straight to the end of the hall and then left. You'll see a wooden desk on your right to check in. There's a small waiting room there, but also a larger room across the hall. They're not a lot of phlebotomy stalls, but they move pretty quickly. Staff are friendly and efficient. This is a good option for getting labs vs driving into Boston.

My doctor recently retired, and I was referred to Dr. Levin by an existing patient. It took four…read morecalls to get someone to talk with me (kept saying the call would be returned by the new patient coordinator who is apparently never there and does not, in fact, return calls). Finally did get her on the phone and when I asked if I could meet Dr. Levin before deciding to make him one of the most important people in my life (primary care physician) she told me he had no time for that. Nice. She then told me she could make a medication review appointment, and would call me back within two days to schedule. No such luck. A week later I had to call back..not there...called back again and got her on the phone. Said again that I was interested in meeting the man who would be responsible for my healthcare management and again...no time for that! Just go to the hassle of gathering and sending all of your medical records over without ever laying eyes on the doctor. I became a little annoyed at this point and expressed it (with no colorful language), at which point she said that this might not work out...she needed to think about it (nice power trip)...I apologized for being testy and said that I would have the records sent...told her I had some very important medication to continue (blood thinner) and didn't want to risk it. No...she was't sure this was going to "work out." She did, however, say she would call me back. Wrong again. For all I know, Michael Levin is a brilliant physician, but I will never know. What I DO know, is that the people representing him have zero empathy for what the patient/PCP relationship means, and he should reticent to have them as the face of his practice.

Dr. Levin is the worst Doctor I have ever been to. He is my primary care physician and I honestly…read morebelieve he doesn't care if I live or die. As far as patient care goes, he is the worst doctor I have ever had. He races in and out of each appointment. He spends zero time talking to the patient. He has his secretary relay information to each patient because he either doesn't have the time, or doesn't care. He doesn't go over test results with you. He is unreachable on the phone. And worst of all - he just DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE AT ALL. My last appointment, I tried to discuss something serious with him, and he didn't even look at me, seemed annoyed that I was taking up extra time, and dismissed my concern as irrational. I had to beg him not to leave the room so he could order a test for me. The test came back confirming what I had feared. Of course Dr. Levin didn't tell me that. His secretary did. I know the state of health care is a mess, and doctors are way too busy these days, but Dr. Levin takes it to the extreme. 3 members of my family are doctors, and they can not believe it when I tell them how this guy goes about his business. I will never see this Doctor again. DO NOT consider making Dr. Levin your primary care physician unless you want to feel that your health, and your life really don't matter.

When I arrived at the office, Dr. Ginsburg informed me that she had a personal appointment in 20 minutes, so my appointment would be short. She only addressed one of the issues I had during this time. During my visit she ordered a lab test, but she never got back to me with the results. After calling the office for two weeks, she finally called me back and left a voicemail, stating that my labs came back fine, and the next step to solving my issues would be to do a lactose test. She gave no further instruction. I called the office back again for another two weeks, but never heard bad from Dr. Ginsburg until about two weeks ago when she called me to let me know it was time for my next annual, and she wanted me to make an appointment with her. What a joke.

I now know that this is relatively common, but I was told by Dr. Ginsburg that my symptoms were psychosomatic. How does a gastroenterologist not know about complications from a gallbladder removal? She was not helpful, and never returned phone calls or gave me lab results. Useless, arrogant, and uninformed.

He doesn't understand the medicines you are on. For example, he kept insisting I switch diabetes meds because the other one is "better for weight loss." When I questioned him about it, he stated that's all it does. NOT TRUE. It causes your body to break down food more slowly, aiding your body's insulin response. Lack of hunger can be a side effect. The final straw was when he took me off an important med because my "numbers were too low." In point of fact, they were exactly in line and over the required minimum for patients with diabetes. Had I not gotten myself a new doctor, this decision could have caused me irreparable harm. It's shameful he is even allowed to practice. P.S. He will also refuse to order blood draws prior to an appt, even when that appt is literally to discuss these blood draws. If you have a chronic illness, just find someone else who won't waste your time and give you poor advice.
