As someone who has multiple medical problems needing close monitoring and treatment, that is saying a lot. Dr. McNagny not only delivers thorough, smart, and impeccable care to me, she treats me with respect as a human and as a whole person, not just as a patient. When I had a (successful!) major surgery recently, Dr. McNagny spent a solid three months leading up to it checking in with me at least weekly to get me ready. She motivated me to get and be well--pricless. Her Masters in Public Health gives her extra understanding of how our American medical system works (or does not). She uses her savvy to the great benefit of her patients by advocating in ways I never knew possible. Also, her staff know me by name and are all great at what they do. If you are looking for a great PCP in the Boston area, look no further. You have hit the jackpot here. Thank You Dr. McN!

I'm a fat, queer woman, and I was very nervous about finding a new doctor when I had to for insurance. I found Dr. Haft on a list of LGBT positive providers, and she has been my doctor now for a little over 2 years. Every experience with her and her office has been very good. The office gets back to me quickly when I need to schedule an appointment, the staff is all friendly and professional, general good vibes. A few specific call-outs for others considering the office: - As I mentioned, I am fat. This does not prevent me from getting good care here, and it honestly has at other practices in the past. My weight is clinically discussed when relevant, but I always feel like I'm being viewed as a whole person with many health attributes including my weight. - Preferred names and pronouns were discussed and are confirmed each visit. Language around personal relationships is also neutral and includes various relationship style options and pronouns. This is great. - I've typically had bad experiences with getting blood taken, and have pretty deep veins on my arms. They have been successful here every time, which is unusual for me. - Sometimes the schedule is running behind, but I genuinely don't care. I alot a little extra time for my appointment on my calendar, but what I appreciate is that even if the schedule is running behind, you get full attention and time when you are being seen.

Dr. Repassy ALWAYS takes the time to listen to me so she gets the whole story. This has led to a definitive diagnosis for me, and since getting on the right meds, I feel great! Despite being prescribed the medication, I must point out that Dr. Repassy is not huge on medications. The medication she gave me is a prescription, but it's an all-natural, porcine-based pill, not lab-derived chemicals, so that's all pretty cool. Dr. Repassy loves doing weight counseling, and she's even gotten me more active. She has great ideas for fun ways to lose weight and she really understands how the body works. Lastly, her entire staff is amazing. For the first time in my life, I don't dread going to the doctor's office.

The first time I met with Dr. Fogg, she asked me so many questions (not just about my personal health) to try to get a sense of who I was and what might be important issues for my health care. Now it was over five years ago, but I remember her spending a full hour with me during that first appointment. She is very approachable and seems to truly care about her patients' health. A couple of years ago, I had a medical concern and actually emailed her through the patientsite website. She returned my email promptly (within 2 hours and it was after 8pm) and I was able to schedule a time to see her within the week. I truly believe that she provides outstanding medical care and prevention tips. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a doctor.

I have EDS, craniocervical instability, dysautonomia and transverse myelitis, all of which have been an ordeal to untangle, and she's been completely brilliant in her ability to juggle both the big picture and small details simultaneously within a variety of rare issues. After burning through multiple specialists, she was actually the first person to suggest I could have Ehlers-Danlos, an unusual genetic condition. How she even knew about this is beyond me, as most EDS patients are first introduced to it by a specialist, definitely not a generalist like their PCP. She then sent me to a geneticist at BWH who confirmed her hunch. She also suspected I have Lyme when no one else did, ordered blood work from Quest and -- lo and behold -- it came back shriekingly positive while everyone else was burying their heads in the sand. She's extraordinarily adept, and I'm only scratching the surface of other rocks she's managed to look under that no other doctor thought to. Dr. Byrne has also pulled together a very skilled and compassionate front office who make booking appointments and asking questions easier than any other medical office I've ever dealt with. Rebecca and Teresa have helped with so many complicated things over the years and been completely unwavering. She's also very easy to book follow-ups with and always seems to make sure she has last-minute slots available. She's fundamentally there for her patients and, beyond her formidable intelligence, is also just a very reassuring soul when facing a seemingly endless stream of medical problems. Root Family Medicine is a vibrant reflection of Dr. Byrne, an unmatched PCP who is exceptionally smart, intrinsically open-minded and genuinely caring.
