I love that Dr. Tomkins is open to and even suggests natural interventions before chemical ones. She is helpful in creating a modified vaccine schedule, and knows about alternative medicine. I've also seen Dr. Coffey at the office (Ball Sq. Family Health), and was very comfortable with him also. He is the only "Dr. Sears approved" doctor in the area! I found Dr. Haft on a list of LGBT positive providers, and she has been my doctor now for a little over 2 years. Every experience with her and her office has been very good. The office gets back to me quickly when I need to schedule an appointment, the staff is all friendly and professional, general good vibes. A few specific call-outs for others considering the office: - As I mentioned, I am fat. This does not prevent me from getting good care here, and it honestly has at other practices in the past. My weight is clinically discussed when relevant, but I always feel like I'm being viewed as a whole person with many health attributes including my weight. - Preferred names and pronouns were discussed and are confirmed each visit. Language around personal relationships is also neutral and includes various relationship style options and pronouns. This is great. - I've typically had bad experiences with getting blood taken, and have pretty deep veins on my arms. They have been successful here every time, which is unusual for me. - Sometimes the schedule is running behind, but I genuinely don't care. I alot a little extra time for my appointment on my calendar, but what I appreciate is that even if the schedule is running behind, you get full attention and time when you are being seen.

However, she spent most of the session concerned with my BMI (mostly ignoring my poor mental health, the pandemic, and despite acknowledging my active lifestyle including lifting). She relies on outdated science, telling me to not eat eggs because of the cholesterol, even though that has been debunked for several years now. After body shaming me, she THEN asked if I had a history of eating disorders. If you're completely healthy she's probably fine, but overall it was the worst experience I've had at Harvard Vanguard. She is an older doctor, which unfortunately should have been the first sign despite the ethical obligation to remain updated on new science.
