I have been to Newton-Wellesley a few times and have had a great experience every time. I was…read morerecently rushed to the ER here with appendicitis (yuck!), and the ER overnight staff did a great job caring for me. They gave me a diagnosis within 4 hours and next steps despite not having a radiologist to read my results present (they outsourced). You'll notice people in the reviews will say you might be placed in the hallway, which was the case for me, but you will see that in every hospital. The ER is always overbooked and understaffed everywhere. Over the course of the night the staff regularly checked in on me, ran all of the necessary tests, and prepped me adequately for emergency surgery the next morning. The staff was truly exceptional, the surgical teams are incredible here. My surgery went flawlessly and they also did a great job with post-op follow ups, calling me promptly and scheduling my 2-week post op check in ASAP. During my surgery, they kept my contacts in the loop throughout the process. I thank everyone who helped me here at Newton-Wellesley and highly recommend choosing this hospital.

This is a good location if you need labs done on a holiday or weekend. Other locations nearby in…read moreWaltham and Chestnut Hill are not open on major holidays, but Newton Wellesley is open and pretty easy to get to right off of 128. Or just a couple miles from the pike. Limited parking at the entrance for handicap and some charging spots. Usually those are taken so you have to go to the lower parking spot and walk up a ton of stairs. There's also the option to valet which is $12 or only $4 if you have a handicap placard. To get to the lab/imaging location, when entering turn right after the check-in station, then go straight to the end of the hall and then left. You'll see a wooden desk on your right to check in. There's a small waiting room there, but also a larger room across the hall. They're not a lot of phlebotomy stalls, but they move pretty quickly. Staff are friendly and efficient. This is a good option for getting labs vs driving into Boston.

I went to see Dr. Ginsburg well over a year ago for an annual physical and GI issues. When I called…read moreto get directions to the office (Newton Wellesley can be pretty confusing), the receptionist was obviously annoyed. When I arrived at the office, Dr. Ginsburg informed me that she had a personal appointment in 20 minutes, so my appointment would be short. She only addressed one of the issues I had during this time. During my visit she ordered a lab test, but she never got back to me with the results. After calling the office for two weeks, she finally called me back and left a voicemail, stating that my labs came back fine, and the next step to solving my issues would be to do a lactose test. She gave no further instruction. I called the office back again for another two weeks, but never heard bad from Dr. Ginsburg until about two weeks ago when she called me to let me know it was time for my next annual, and she wanted me to make an appointment with her. What a joke.

Awful woman. I was diagnosed with gallstones, and had my gallbladder removed. Ever since (going on…read more15 years now), I have had digestive issues as a result. I now know that this is relatively common, but I was told by Dr. Ginsburg that my symptoms were psychosomatic. How does a gastroenterologist not know about complications from a gallbladder removal? She was not helpful, and never returned phone calls or gave me lab results. Useless, arrogant, and uninformed.

First doctor I have ever fired. He makes assumptions about you, for example assuming my weight…read moreissue was due to poor nutrition despite having maintained this same weight 20 years after a pregnancy. He doesn't understand the medicines you are on. For example, he kept insisting I switch diabetes meds because the other one is "better for weight loss." When I questioned him about it, he stated that's all it does. NOT TRUE. It causes your body to break down food more slowly, aiding your body's insulin response. Lack of hunger can be a side effect. The final straw was when he took me off an important med because my "numbers were too low." In point of fact, they were exactly in line and over the required minimum for patients with diabetes. Had I not gotten myself a new doctor, this decision could have caused me irreparable harm. It's shameful he is even allowed to practice. P.S. He will also refuse to order blood draws prior to an appt, even when that appt is literally to discuss these blood draws. If you have a chronic illness, just find someone else who won't waste your time and give you poor advice.
