I've been to Lucky's I'd say, three times? And they were good those three times, food was decent, service was very good. And I tip WELL for good service. Never go under 20%. but this Sunday's service was THE WORST I've ever had in a dining experience. At first the lady who was serving us was nice it seemed, we ordered a apple juice n some water. We had our order ready fairly quickly, which we tried to be quick about it cuz they were SUPER busy. My Boyfriend ordered a burrito with NO olives, he absolutely hates them and won't eat any that has them in there because of the distinct taste. Waited about 30-35 minutes for our food to come out and when we got it, my French toast was SOGGY at the bottoms of all of them! It was inedible, and his burrito had olives all through it, his hashbrowns were borderline burnt. And we just decided we didn't wanna finish any of it, called the server over and simply just said we weren't happy with the soggy toast and the olives in the burrito and won't eat it and would like a DISCOUNTED ticket. Still was willing to pay and she looked at us and responded in the rudest tone and said "Then just leave." And walked away with an attitude. Our appitizers were fine.. but when my friend notified our server that the tomato's on her salad we're moldy her response was "oh makes sense, they all come in a bag so I'm sure the cooks just missed it"... That's not okay. People can get very sick from mold. Another person's apple pie was freezer burned.. our server was very unkind.. probably not a place you want to go to unless your getting a quick beer and leaving. Love the concept. You pick your sandwich and pick the ingredients you want on it.. I do mac n cheese with pepper jack, corn and mushrooms. For burger i do: pepper-jack, colby jack, bacon and yes a hot dog!!! You can get grilled chicken, hotdog or tenderloin and add ingredients. They do serve breakfast everyday!! Pretty disappointed after reading the reviews we tried this place for brunch. We had to ask for an ice water 3 times and there was no air conditioning so we sat here sweating. Absolutely my favorite restaurant in town! I'm there at least once a week for breakfast and when possible more! The pancakes are enormous and everyone loves them! My favorite is the classic breakfast sandwich but you can't go wrong with anything you get and you definitely leave full!!! Stop in for lunch or dinner too, the have a great mac n cheese that you can add just about anything into. My personal favorite is the chili mac but sometimes we switch it up and add some hotdogs... 2nd favorite is to get the fries with cheese on them and dip them in a cup of chili... I'm getting hungry just writing this!!! They have an awesome loyalty program too, it'll save you a few bucks cause your gonna be back, promise!!! If not for the food, for the staff! We came in at 9 o'clock on August 25th and as we sat down, the waitress immediately began talking about us with her other customers calling us 'disgusting'. The good: super nice staff. The bad: super inconsistent kitchen. We've gone here maybe 20 times and what we've learned about their breakfast: the pancakes, hash browns and biscuits and gravy are amazing and everything else is borderline disgusting. Eggs are always way overdone. You can ask for scrambled eggs but it'll just be a brick of eggs. You might order a poached egg but it'll likely be a hockey puck. You could order an English muffin but it'll be way underdone and doughy. You might think this is exaggeration but I've seen so many people around us leave food mostly untouched so many times. It's too bad because they get some things really right. I'd highly recommend you order one of their massive pancakes at one point. Hopefully at some point they make an effort to either train their kitchen on how to cook the basics/classic breakfast foods or hire new people because food in Cedar Rapids is just getting better and you can't stay open half assing it for forever. Tried this place when we were looking for something other than our regular New-Bo spot for a Sunday morning Bloody. This place was open and we thought, what the heck. The interior was very dark, and with it being a slightly overcast morning, it was like walking into a cave. Once our eyes adjusted, we made our way to a table. Our server was right over to take a drink order. Husband had a Bloody Mary that he rated as excellent. It had a pickle, two olives, a slice of bacon and a chunk of lime. I ordered a Guinness and was a little disappointed that it came as bottle. I like it ok, but from the keg is best. Ordered the food. I went with the chicken fried biscuits and gravy and the husband went with the burger. Burger: The first one came out and was overcooked and missing the green chili's. Second one came out and was more towards rare than medium rare, but hey it's better than charred. Very tasty and reasonably priced. The $2.50 for the side of fries seemed over the top, but they were ok. Chicken Biscuits: OMG! First of all, I have never in my life ordered these. But it sounded good and when husband had some at IHOP, they looked tasty. All I can say is "WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER". This was amazing. The chicken had the right amount of crunch, moist and tender. The biscuit wasn't homemade, but still tasted good. Eggs were fluffy and scrambled hiding beneath the biscuit crown. The gravy was almost as good as I make it. (That's a big compliment...believe it.) Nothing out of the can there. Thank you person in the kitchen making a batch of real gravy. The rest of you need to ditch that canned crap from Sam's Club and learn to make your own. Did I mention hashbrowns? I loved them! Nice and crisp and hot all the way through. Sorry, I don't normally gush like this over a breakfast but it rocked. I can't wait to go back again! My second drink was a Salty Dog. Had to send it back after a couple of sips because it needed just a little more grapefruit juice. The guy behind the bar was pouring them stout! Place was not very busy at all. Middle of the afternoon. We sat for about 10 minutes, we were the only ones in the dining room. I finally had to go to the bar to get a menu. We got drinks very soon after I did that, but after waiting another 10 minutes with no attention we left and went elsewhere for food. Came in here because a local restaurant was closed...and was pleasantly surprised. If I had never gone in I would have always assumed it was some dive bar. It's not. The menu for dinner is quite different...you can completely build a burger, tenderloin, etc....and add anything you can think of! I had the Breaded tenderloin and added corned beef (for $1 more you get SO MUCH MEAT), sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing on the side. YUM! I'd never had that combination before and I LOVED IT! I'm excited to try other cool combos! We were told they have an outstanding breakfast, so I'll be coming back to try that. Everyone inside was kind and entertaining, even the other guests. This is a hidden restaurant since it's really a bar that serves fantastic food at fantastic prices. The breakfast was just great, the pancake is HUGE. Servers are very friendly. The burger wasn't the best but I do like all the options you can chose from, I think 5 toppings on your burger. I decided to not go here again since these folks don't deserve the customers that they have already. We were there on a Sunday morning eating and when we were ready to check out, the credit card machine was down. The waitress said that we dont accept checks, and required that we get money out of the ATM that charged a $3.00 fee. So on top of the already expensive food that they have there, we added a 3.00 (convenience) fee on top to use the ATM here. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES. Pretty inattentive service. Food is great if you ever get it. Best not to be a party of more than 2 if you ever want to eat. Loooove the fact that it's basically BYO anything. Went in there for lunch a few days ago for the first time and would for sure go again. Heard their breakfast is good too but haven't tried it yet. Had a wrap with a side of Mac. Funny thing though, forgot what a pepperoncini was and asked the bartender if it was similar to pepperoni (mind you it's a little pepper haha) and she said yes so I added that to the wrap thinking I'd have more meat. My experince here was awful! I was on a work travel and I was exploring the area and I decided to walk in when I was passing by. When I walked in and took a seat the waiter asked me if I wanted anything. When he asked me the intonation of his voice was in a way that sounded like singing. Funny I know! When he mixed me a drink, I really did not like it and I could not drink it. Next 20 minutes I tried to get his attention and he was busy socializing with the people I assume he knew at the bar. I felt like a outsider because I was not from the "village." This will never happen in California! When I told him that I was trying to get his attention for last 20 minutes, he ran to the kitchen and brought the food I had ordered. He assumed I was complaining about not getting the food on time. All I wanted was to ask him to mix me another drink which I could hope I could drink. I did not like the way he spoke to me. He spoke to me like he would with a 80 years old woman who can not hear very well, and I am not 80 years old. I am from California, and I expect every one to be treated equally, regardless of if you are from the village or not. I am just not used to be treated this way. I will never ever go back to this place if I visit Cedar Rapids again and I hope this waiter gets talked to to bring his act together. read more

I have been here a few times. I have had good meals but one time we had some bad service. Could have just been because they were busy. I have been there since that and have had great service ever since. All in all it's a decent place to eat. One downside is no tap beer and I do enjoy a nice frosty pint of beer. read more
