We stopped in for brunch with our family of 5. It's nice that they serve breakfast all day. The restaurant was busy, so we had a bit of a wait. Our server was very friendly. I had the Cobb salad, my husband had the tenderloin sandwich and the kids each had 1 pancake. The pancakes are enormous. 1 would have been more than enough for the two of them to share. My husband said the tenderloin was delicious. My salad was just ok. The food took a really long time to come out, which wasn't great with 3 little kids. read more

Decided the venture to CR and try something different today. We have heard Luckys is the place to go for breakfast so off we went. Sad to say it was not worth the hype or the drive. We waited an absurd amount of time for a table- I get it. It's busy but don't sit two people at tables for 8 then make others wait... normally you would have the table of 2 wait for a small table to open up in order to keep your larger tables open especially on a Sunday morning. Strange. Anyway 40 mins later we were sat. By this time we were all starving so kids wanted an appetizer. Bacon cheese fries is what they picked. They came out & looked great-went to pass out the plates to our table of 6 and 3 plates had dried food stuck on them. Nope not okay. I had ordered a bloody mary & a glass of water. Took 3 times asking for the water to get it & when it came the server handed it out by holding the rim & her finger was in my actual water. She seemed inexperienced so thought whatever. I will overlook it. Next our food starts to come out... well some of our food. My parents food came first. My dad got the veggie skillet which he said was amazing. My mom got the Benedict flight which was flavorful but cold. 10 mins later my daughters mac n cheese with bacon came out- soggy bacon mixed in noodles with cheese for $12.99. It taster HORRIBLE... I've never tasted something so odd. My kid is not picky but could not eat it. Something wasn't right. My other child ordered mac n cheese with fried chicken and feta. Hers came out about 10 mins after my other daughter and had grilled chicken not fried... feta was plentiful. She said it was okay... next up my food and my other daughtees food about 8 mins later. I got the chicken biscuits which looked amazing but sadly were just okay. Chicken was a flat Tysons like chicken patty & was cold. Other daughter had 1/2 biscuit & gravy plus American fries, and scrambled eggs with cheese- all cold. We would have said something but never saw server again plus we wanted out of there by this time. From talking to others it sounds like we had an abnormal experience so may try it again once we this experience isn't fresh in our minds. Oh & they charge 4% to run your credit/debit card. read more

My dad & I were out visiting family in IA, and this place is so good! You wouldn't expect it to be because it's literally a hole in the wall, but oh boy! It is a bar & we weren't expecting very good breakfast at a bar, but it was absolutely amazing! We got french toast, eggs, and bacon & it was delicious. Reasonably priced too. We ended up going for a second time before we left! They also have a back patio where we sat both times & I was also able too bring my dog. Just make sure to bring water if it's hot! I had the most amazing Vegetable Skillet tonight (August 5,2021) prepared by Chef Keaton. I am not exaggerating when I say that it was piled high with delicious, fresh vegetables, perfect sunny-side up eggs, and succulent hash browns which were incredible tasty! Our server, Kirsten, was extremely professional but knew how to make us feel right at home! The best part, the part that brought a smile to my face is pictured here. Was in Cedar Rapids for a day trip. Decided to try this place because it was the afternoon and I wanted breakfast food. It did not disappoint! Great food. Even better service. I was told to try the pancakes.... Was gonna order 3 but the waitress said she'd bring me 2 and if it wasn't enough, I could ask for a 3rd. She said they are really big. She did not lie!! These suckers were probably 9 inches in diameter! I couldn't even finish 2. Again, great service. Wish I would've gotten her name so I could mention her by name but I did not. Anyway consider yourself warned the pancake is huge if you get to you're going to get it plan on taking some home. A real gem so close to work. This is the first time I have been there. A good decently priced bar. I had gone during dinner. Their menu is different build your own kind. Where you select an entree's mac-cheese, burger or wrap you choose 5 toppings or more and also buy a side for under 10$ and I tried their mac-cheese and chicken burger and my wife tried their veggie black bean burger, all of the items were very good. First off is great, but I wouldn't recommend sitting outside. The service wasn't the greatest as far as the person waited on our table. I ordered coffee but I had to ask to have a coffee refill and the rest of my family wasn't offered refills. I tried to flag her down and even called out her name but she didn't here us. We ripped a napkin in 1/2 so we all had a napkin. I paid with a card and when she brought out the receipt to be signed she told me about a 4% service fee and said it's like a small 38 cent fee but right on the receipt it is pointed out that it is 2.17, not 38 cents. FYI it is 4% of whatever you buy with card. They also were doing a face painting today also so people were trying to squeeze between our table and the face painting table, so that was a little uncomfortable. There was some standing water from the rains most likely so there was also an odor of foul water near by, but the food was good and good size portions. I would recommend sitting inside, but they weee busy and I could see they were a little overwhelmed. There is a lot of other options in the metro area. I heard about this place from a family member. This is my new go-to spot in Cedar Rapids for breakfast. They have great hash browns. My previous favorite spot did too until they changed things up. That tells you how important good hash browns are to me. I won't go back to the old spot again. Lucky's also has great omlettes with very generous portions. My mom takes half home and gets breakfast again the next day. I like that they offer kielbasa as a meat choice. I tried the stuffed burrito breakfast this morning with sausage and was quite pleased. I don't care for their pancake but don't need those anyway. The one downside is that they don't offer buttered toast. The "butter" is on the table. I don't like buttering toast unless it JUST came out of the toaster. But this is a minor problem. The rest is good enough to overlook such a quibble. If you can, come early on a Saturday. I have been on a search for the best breakfast in Cedar Rapids for quite some time, and Luckys joins the ranks on my top two list. The reason for this is that the food, service, and prices are consistent despite them gaining much popularity lately. The portions are large and you are sure not to leave hungry. The kielbasa sausage is some of the best I have ever had, I believe that's thanks to the village meat market being very close by. And of all the many items I have ordered I have yet to come across something that I disliked. If you are in during the lunch hour be sure to give the Reuben bites a try they are amazing! I highly recommend them. I will admit that this place is not good for groups as they do not take reservations and it can fill up quickly in the morning. We were left waiting for over 30min with a group of 6 once but if your a group of two you will be seated very quickly! I enjoy stopping here for a couple beers and an appetizer once in a while. The breakfast is awesome but this isn't about breakfast. Was not greeted by anyone sat at the bar and watched some grumpy young lady who might be over her head ignore me. Finally a more pleasant young lady sat next to me, her shift was over but she asked me if I needed a beverage. She got me my beer and a shot of fine boubon to sip on. I was ready to walk out.
