Milkshakes: pineapple caramel and blueberry
Tina M.

The staff was so friendly! The ambiance adds so much to this place! Like an authentic old time diner. First- the milkshakes! We had a blueberry and then a pineapple/ caramel shake... like an upsidedown pineapple cake! I tried the chili fries bc I always want them... and they were exactly what I expected- so much chili and cheese everything was soaked The fried chicken was delicious and seasoned just right. Big juicy pieces. Coleslaw was sweet. I ordered the Sriracha chicken sandwich but I took it home, too much to eat! I would definitely go back. It was a value for the cost and the staff was the best.

I usually eat in but did pickup today. I've had the chicken many times but never in a sandwich. The portion was quite large in comparison to say McDonalds. It wasn't dried out or tough. The seasoning was borderline salty. I feel like it should come with fries for $16. I prefer the crispy chicken sandwich at Red Robin.

Nothing but AMAZING.... From the outside, the place and neighborhood we were a little worried being from out of town. We were happily greeted and shown our booth. Once our server, Nicole, came we asked her a few questions about the menu which she answered and made her recommendations. Once our apps were brought out, she brought us a small strawberry orio shake to welcome us in for the first time. -The cheese curds, A+ soft, great batter. -Cup of chili with cheese. B+. The only critique of the evening is the hamburger was not seasoned. There was huge chunks of burger in the chili, which is great but if the meat would have had more seasoning it would have tasted better. -fried chicken is out of this world. Skin was slap your momma one time and once you bite into the meat, the chicken is so juicy it makes you want to slap your moms twice. I have never and I hope my mom and grandma don't read this but I have never had fried chicken this good. I thought I had good fried chicken frowning up in the South. -mushroom Swiss burger, burger is 1/4 lb and not the supposedly 1/4 lb like MCDs tries to pass off. This guy was huge. I asked for extra pickles and this is the the first place that instead of throwing 2-3 extra pickles on, they put a row of pickles on each side of the beef. Every time I come to anchorage from now on, this will be one one place I always come.

Idk man... every time we go I like this place a little less. It seems like the quality is increasingly WORSE and prices are HIGHER. The place is also kinda run down, which can be OK, if... IF its super cheap and delish. But this place ain't. I'm down for the local nostalgia vibe, but somewhere along the way, the food just started to suck and I just don't get it. Hard pass for me unless other People are paying or its just for milkshakes. They do make a mean milkshake.

February 2025. We didn't go in but picked it up. Had to call in the order since we wanted fried pickles and they weren't on the online ordering menu. We got the five piece fried chicken with fries and a cornbread muffin, and an order of fried pickles. It was $20 and the fried pickles were $13 I think. The chicken was pretty good, not too greasy. The wing piece had barely any meat on it but the others were good. They added fried pickles to the menu and cheese curds so I wanted to try the pickles at least. They were spears and they were fine, nothing crazy. The batter could have been more crispy.

We were in Anchorage for 36 hours and we were told we had to check this place out for "excellent" fried chicken! It was rainy and chilly outside, but the atmosphere inside was rather pleasant. We were seated immediately and had our order taken. The food arrived quickly and was hot. We tried a chicken salad sandwich, onion rings, and the fried chicken with mashed potatoes. The chicken salad was good. Not too mayo-y and didn't make the bread soggy. The onion rings had a decent crunch, but you have to pay extra for ranch, so that's kind of meh. The potatoes and gravy didn't have flavor. I had to add salt. The chicken had a good initial crunch, and it was juicy, but lacked seasonings and needed salt as well. We did not try the milkshake because we were already chilled, but they did look yummy. I would definitely give them a second try, maybe it was an off day for the salt fairy.

Walked into the restaurant and the place was pretty empty, compared to all the years we have gone here when The Browns owned it. We stood at the sign that says wait to be seated and wait we did. The only time I have had to wait in the past when the employee was cleaning table for us to sit down. After we were seated one of the young girls gave us silverware and water. Again we waited until our server "Ashley" came to help us. We ordered a Butterscotch Milkshake, Gizzards and a Jumbo cheese. In the past the milkshake would have been brought to us within 5 minutes. Once we got the shake we noticed it was awfully dark after tasting it, it was chocolate. Got the waitress and she apologized and said I thought you said chocolate. She took the shake away and brought us the correct one within minutes. Once again we waited and waited for our food. In the past we would have our food within minutes. I will say the food was steaming hot and good however I think you have to take out a small loan to eat here. The prices have gone extremely high. I know every place has increased prices but our lunch for two came to $41 and the service wasn't great. If you decide to eat here go to Costco and buy their gift cards for $80 for a value of $100 that's the only way I'll eat here.

This establishment has been around possibly as long as I've been alive, and for good reason. It's the In N Out of fried chicken! It's very " dineresque" so old school, so cool. When I'm in Anchorage I try to find a reason to indulge in fresh honey dipped fried chicken and fresh made onion rings. Hanging out at Barnes and Nobel with the grand kids was only rivaled by a finale at "The Bone" the kids got to order chocolate root beer floats, chicken, fries, onion rings.... But trust me, it was really all about me Heaven !!!

Average fried chicken. It was light of the seasoning but terrific on the fry. Unique dinner decor made me think of the old tv show "Alice". Friendly staff and timely service. Fries and corn fritters were good, corn bread was sweet and more care like than this southern cares for personally. Not bad, but not on my short list to go back either.

Kind of exactly what you expect. Fried chicken, diner feel. I'd try it out as an Anchorage institution. Also try the brown cow.

Best chicken place in town. My favorite place to go. Milkshakes are great. Quick and friendly service.

A Historical Landmark for the City of Anchorage! The food is good, but not a fan of the new prices!

While they DO have clam chowder, the bbq is why I was here. We did the family combo which was $37.50 (the website said about $10 cheaper so I was a little surprised) and easily feeds 3-4 people meat and rice wise. It also comes with a slaw, but it is a small portion. I am not a fan of the slaw. We also didn't get the other side advertised. I loved the pulled pork. The chicken was good. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. Great meat portions for the price. Will easily feed my household for two meals. Very friendly staff and it wasn't a long wait for the food.

Ok. A few things…read more The business REALLY needs to update the prices on their website. They are INCREDIBLY dated. We ordered 2 combo's and 2 chowders over the phone for pickup. When we arrived at the foodtruck, the prices of the combos were almost DOUBLE what we were expecting. The website says the combo is $16.50. The combo actually costs $28.00. Additionally, despite the website saying this: "All BBQ comes with Chowder Express Java Rice, Island Slaw, and Curried Pickled Cucumber & Carrots" The combos did not come with curried pickled cucumbers and carrots. The food was OK. The portions were absolutely MASSIVE. The combo could easily feed two people. Worth trying, just make sure you order from the truck so you can see the prices first.
