We were in the neighborhood and needed a snack to hold us over till dinner, and the empanadas were SO good. Made to order with what seemed like super fresh ingredients, and they were hot and ready within minutes. YUM

Bad service, the empanadas were raw and cold, the cake was melted, the brownie smelled burnt, I don't recommend it

The mushroom and butternut squash soups are both amazing--highly recommend tasting both if you're with a friend! My daughter loved her Caprese sandwich, and I'm so glad I asked our waitress, Juliette, for her favorite empanada pick--the Spinach and Cheese was the absolute correct choice. My husband loved his Chef Zee chicken salad, too. Service was timely, professional and friendly. Got daughter to airport on time, Thank you. We will be back,

I decided to make 7 pm reservations for our favorite Argentinian Restaurant! It was easy and painless to make. A quick call. Driving to the restaurant, I was expecting it to be jam packed as the restaurant eating area is small and cozy. As we pulled into the parking lot, my hunch was confirmed. The parking lot was full and we can see people outside. We arrived a couple minutes before 7 and when I walked in, I had to work my way through people waiting to be seated. The staff was non stop busy and was in and out of the kitchen. Based on how packed it was, I knew it reservations would not be on time but for how long? I checked in and the staff member told me that a 4 top was just finishing, and it is ours as soon as they are done paying - 15 -20 minutes at the most is what he estimated. 15 minutes later, we were seated. I was happy considering how busy they were and the communication was great. We received heart shaped bread and water immediately and that was nice. They usually have breadsticks so I loved the touch of the shaped bread. The staff took a little while to get our food order, my guess was it was to pace the kitchen and the wait staff. It was ok cause we had great company at the table. We got our order in and the server was great and apologized for the wait and we totally understood. My wife and I shared a meal. Two empanadas and their cheese lasagna. My friend got calamari to share and ribeye steak. His wife got the pasta with shrimp. The appetizers came out in a timely matter, hot and fresh. The empanadas are homemade (spinach cheese and capreses). The crust is the make it break for empanadas and it was good as usual. The main course meals came out and they already split our meal which was unexpected and great service. The steak looked scrumptious and the pasta looked well dressed. As for as our lasagna, the amount of sauce was well balanced, the flavor of the tomato cream sauce had a nice tang to it, it was not loose or too thick. The pasta was tender and the parm, ricotta, and mozzarella was cheese had the right amount of each and topped with shaved parm. I loved it and would get it again. I'm a pescatarian but when I saw my friend's ribeye, I just had to try a slice. And did I make the right choice. The meat was tender and was cooked to the right temp. The chimichurri was delicious and pairs well the steak. What's Valentine's Day without sweets! We ordered Tiramisu and Flan Con Dulce De Leche to share and they were solid choices. Both were good and very tasty. The sizes were perfect to share although I would have made room to eat both of hem to myself. The overall experience was great considering how busy it was. The staff were exceptionally friendly and kept that excitement of serving the customers knowing how busy the restaurant was. I highly recommend this place do far, the friends were have dined here with has come back multiple times. They would send my text messages with pics of them dining. I always respond, "did I miss the invite?"

We were four and decided that two Smalls and two Mains would be a fine amount and it was. If you as a group are big eaters, maybe an extra small, but use this as a guide. The Smalls were the mussels (about a dozen) with such an incredible and hard to describe, taste. The other small was the NAPOLEON BUENOS AIRES, also unusual and special. For the Larges, we shared the SALMON A LA BRAZILEIRA and VENEZUELAN CARBONADA (no meat eaters here). Also a bit difficult to describe, but take my word for it, very special. As we were headed to an event with desserts, we didn't try any here (and also no one was drinking tonight). Would love to come back and try if I'm in Chicagoland again. Just go!

In spite of me having every intention on visiting Stacked & Folded, it became my choice for eats after I saw the Fons - Plant Based Empanadas sign. It is currently located at Winnetka Walk inside of the space formerly held by an ice cream shop known as Adelheidi's Organics. There are plenty of parking spots available along Lincoln Ave in spite of the space being shared with other restaurants and businesses. Believe it or not, there is always someone leaving this area if you cannot find parking upon arriving in downtown Winnetka. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and up to the counter to see what is offered on their display menu. And I must say that I felt very welcome prior to ordering. I ended up ordering three empanadas after the employee recommended it because of the buy three get one free advertisement. Out of empanada choices like Tinga, Sweet Potato Chilli, Chorizo Cheese & Potato, Smoky Mushrooms, Andean, Margherita, Rope Vieja, Pulled BBQ, Corn, and Lumpia; my four empanadas chosen were a Margherita, Corn, and two Pulled BBQ. I took my time choosing my drink because there were lemonade flavors that I absolutely adored like Mango & Strawberry, Dragonfruit & Pomegranate, Passion Fruit & Hibiscus, Turmeric Pineapple, Watermelon & Kiwi, and Blueberry & Lavender. I ended up ordering the Mango Strawberry because it consisted of two flavors I craved at the time. As my order was being made, the employee and I ended up conversing about running which I am very passionate about. I love that no matter how short the shorts I am wearing are or how sweaty I am, a conversation about running is always struck up whenever I visit businesses or restaurants wearing running clothes. Service: 5 (Great) If you wish to dine-in, there are an acceptable amount of tables and seats in the dining area, including stool seats along the window. During the time of my visit there were not any customers at Fons - Plant Based Empanadas. I imagine that because it is new to the area was the reason for it not having much business compared to others in the area. I told the employee that Fons will do good because of how many individuals are within downtown Winnetka on a regular basis. Atmosphere: 4 (Good) As for my food, I must say that I enjoyed the empanadas. Mmm, I nearly ate all four empanadas before even driving my vehicle out of the area, hehe. Oh, yes honey they were delicious! Out of all flavors, the Margherita, Corn, and the Pulled BBQ, I have to say I enjoyed the Pulled BBQ the most. While eating that particular empanada I had the biggest smirk on my face. Food: 5 (Great) Being that I had a great experience, I would gladly order from Fons - Plant Based Empanadas again when visiting downtown Winnetka, likely after running the Green Bay Trail. Service: 5 | Atmosphere: 4 | Food: 5 ~ Peace. Love. Happiness. ~ Thomas G

Instead of being the canned stuff you can tell they put both a lot of care and seasoning into it. We moved out to the burbs and I saw this one on Yelp...but was it related? I mean, they have two different websites, and the one for this location literally has on their website "Serving you at one location!" We weren't sure, but we were willing to give it a shot. We came early on a Saturday, and inside they had a picture of the one in Chicago, and street signs for Ashland and Roscoe, where the Chicago one is located. So it HAS to be related...right? But the menus looked a little different... We got started with the chips and salsa, and the salsa has a real kick. Note that you only get the first chips for free and more chips would cost more. My wife got a torta, and I got tacos with steak and eggs on it, while my kid got the kid's quesadilla meal. And sure enough, there were those beans. Not dry at all and super flavorful. Next time I need to do my wife's play and order double beans instead of beans and rice. My tacos were messy but cooked well, with lots of bits of steak. I was a little confused because I thought my kid's meal would come with a drink, but they charged for his lemonade. I assume it's because it was a special blended drink and not just from a soda fountain. Now that we know this is here, we'll definitely be back, especially seeing that they have a patio for warmer weather. Glad to see we have an option when we're missing our city days.

And you might need it. The restaurant was FULL at 6pm on a Friday, and almost every table had a kid, toddler, or baby at it, so I think 1) families (or parents lol) must like Mexican food, and 2) reservations would definitely be helpful! Complimentary chips and spicy salsa are available. I still petition for tortas to be on the dinner menu! My first petition for a kids' menu worked! Lots of offerings including burritos, bowls, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, and other entrees. My burrito was pretty ginormous, but it lacked a little flavor and mostly tasted like cheese and beans. Husband didn't complain about the enchiladas, but I think the serving was a little light for him. Because it was so busy, the waitress told him he could only choose one meat type. Satisfactory mojitos. Energy and atmosphere is very lively! Service was a bit slow, as I think the waitress was bouncing across many tables.
