What a cute North End restaurant. The service was great and we really enjoyed the vibe inside. The food was pretty basic to be honest, nothing really blew us away. It was good but for me not really worth the money. We ordered the daily soup, the gnocchi, the salad, and orange sorbet and daily special dessert( strawberry shortcake ) . The best things were the gnocchi and the orange sorbet they were pretty good. The salad was not worth $18 as it had like 2 small pieces of salami, but the fresh cheese on it was great. The daily dessert was kind of dry, and the soup was good but nothing to write home about.

Pretty good dishes! Pasta was good and the minestrone Fagioli was also good. The side dishes of pasta are kinda perfect for a lunch portion and price. The real standout here was the ambiance and the service. Granted, we were the only ones in here on a Thursday at 12pm, but it was awesome!

Lucia has that classic North End charm and a cozy, inviting atmosphere, but overall my experience felt a bit uneven. Est. 1977 and seems their menus are from the same year!! Almost all menus had many items wiped off they were so old! The food was lackluster--my pasta dish was ok but not at all memorable or anything special and portion sizes were on the smaller side for the price. Call me crazy but going to a restaurant in the North End, is it too much to expect house made fresh pasta? If yes then I'd rather stay home and make boxed pasta myself! The service was friendly & attentive. It's a nice spot if you're strolling through the neighborhood and want a traditional sit-down Italian meal, but with so many amazing restaurants in the North End, I'd say Lucia is just ok.

Another great find we had not seen before. It's further down Hanover Street where we had never been before. We decided to walk down one side to look at menus and then cross to go back where we had already planned to dine at a restaurant that is by Mike's and Modern Pastry. Just as we're about to cross at the crosswalk, I look up and see this name with a sign that said to join them for lunch. So we decided to walk a little further and looked at the menu. This was the place we decided to try and it did not disappoint. The staff are all very nice and extremely attentive. Very helpful and explained some things without us asking, which helped us decide what we wanted. The restaurant was nicely decorated, wasn't too warm, more roomy and not as dark than some other Italian restaurants in the area. The calamari is THE BEST I have ever had. Many restaurants will add peppers or other foods to their calamari, which is really good, but this place did not add anything. It was so fresh, hot and very, very tasty. Their homemade pasta is fantastic. Best part is that they were not that expensive, either. Check them out! You won't be disappointed! They exceeded our expectations.

Very warm and cozy place for lunch. Service was very good and the inside is nicely decorated. Started off with Fried calamari and main dishes were Rigatoni and my daughter had Gnocchi. All our dishes were very tasty.

Tried this place on our trip . Have excellent location and outdoors seating . Laid back ambiance , service while friendly , runs on the slower end especially when busy . Food is not the best in north end , overall little bland . 5 stars for the location/service and 3 stars for the food . Good place for drinks and appetizers.

This pasta dish was so fresh and delicious.

We were there mid week for a late lunch. We sat outside. Attentive service. I had a most excellent dish. My wife had a cheesy pasta dish that was actually pretty plain. She always picks the wrong thing. I had a delicious glass of wine as well. I think it was the super Tuscan.

I visited Lucia Ristorante for the first time this week while my friends were in town. The ambiance and interior were nice, creating a cozy dining atmosphere. Upon being seated, we were given bread and butter-- the butter was pre-packaged, and the portion of bread was just enough for one slice per person. While the prices themselves weren't unreasonable, we found the food didn't quite live up to them. Also, the menu has some rules, like a $15 minimum per person and a $2 per-person charge for sharing a plate. My fiancé and I shared the Cozze e Gamberi Cacciatore ($28), and unfortunately, the seafood didn't taste fresh--he even got a bad-tasting mussel. My friends ordered the Pollo Lucia ($27) and Pollo Focaccia ($27), and we all agreed that the flavors were lacking for the price point. On the positive side, the service was good, and I had no complaints in that regard. Overall, while the restaurant has a nice ambiance and attentive staff, the food quality and pricing didn't quite meet expectations.

We came here as a party of four and unfortunately, the experience was just okay. The food was not what I expected -- it tasted more like something pre-made, almost with a plastic-like quality, rather than a freshly cooked meal. Definitely not great. Service was also slow. I first asked another waiter to send someone over to take our order, and even after that, it still took about 15-20 minutes before our server finally came. I expected more attentiveness and fresher-tasting dishes.

The service is very slow even for lunch and we had to ask for the complementary bread. Pollo Francesco and mare e monte were delicious. Lasagna Lucia and meatballs were bland. Overall there are better places in the north end for the price

Ammazzafame - delicious!

I really enjoyed the food here! Place was packed on a Saturday, chilly night. I ordered the Ammazzafame pasta dish. It was delicious!! ($23) Penne rigate, Porcini mushrooms, sausage, broccoli, sun-dried tomato and capers. The sausage had so much flavor and were like large chunks. Everything mixed so well together. Others in my group had the lasagna and Chitarra Al Tartufo pasta. We all enjoyed our dishes. Menu is extensive. Lots of chicken options here. No pizzas. I would skip on the garlic bread though. This was nothing special and was a pretty small portion for a table of 4. Service was friendly and efficient. Place was decorated nicely for the holidays. Would come back if in the area!

Delicious meal in The North End of Boston. Excellent service. Small interior but larger outdoor eating area. The menu has a great selection of true Italian entrees and appetizers. I highly recommend and hope to return soon.

A cute patio in Little Italy was a nice place to have lunch. Service was a little slow and inconsistent. The complimentary bread was delicious but ours only came with butter, not oil like the table across from us. We didn't see much of the server so we didn't get a chance to ask. The calamari was lightly breaded and perfectly cooked, paired with a spicy red sauce. The caprese wasn't what we're used to seeing, served with a round ball of mozzarella, thickly cut tomatoes and not much basil or balsamic but it was still tasty. Pappardelle Bolognese pasta was fresh and had a nice chew and the sauce was good. Brigante de Penne was ok. It was strange that there was some cheese included somewhere in the pastas because it wasn't listed but showed up on the end of your fork. Wine, sangria and beer only on the patio but inside was a full bar. There is a $15 minimum per person and a split charge to share entrees. Bathroom is in the basement.

Ristorante Limoncello is an Italian restaurant that opened in Boston, Massachusetts in April 2000…read more It was founded by restaurateur and Italian immigrant Maurizio Badolato. Born and raised in Calabria, Italy, Badolato worked as waiter as a young boy before immigrating to Boston in the 1970s. At the age of just 15, he was working as a busboy at a Boston restaurant and slowly worked his way up the restaurant totem pole. One night after getting off work, Badolato bought a wad of $5 scratch lottery tickets and won one million dollars. He decided to use the winnings to fulfill a lifelong dream and open his own restaurant in the North End (aka Boston's "Little Italy"). He hired practically his entire family to come over from Italy and work at his restaurant, which is located along the Freedom Trail right next to the historic Paul Revere House. Many of the recipes belonged to Badolato's mother Concetta, including her famous meatballs. She was a constant fixture at the restaurant until she passed away in 2015. The head chef at Limoncello since day one has been Chef Andrea Moggi. A second location opened nearby at 76 Salem Street in 2017, but it closed a year later. My family and I recently visited Ristorante Limoncello for dinner while we were spending the day in Boston. After a long day of walking and sight-seeing, we found ourselves in the North End for dinner time. We walked by the restaurant and loved the name and the menu. We were seated on the outdoor patio area for a delicious al fresco dining experience. My wife and I both shared the "Scallops Limoncello" (fresh sea scallops sautéed in 'homemade' Limoncello, served on a bed of baby arugula) and the "Tagliolini al Limoncello" (fresh homemade pasta with jumbo shrimp cooked in a tomato cream sauce). Although the restaurant doesn't have a Kids Menu, our friendly server told us that she could easily bring us a family-style plate of "Penne with Meatballs" (red sauce) for our two sons to share. Everything was excellent, right down to the complimentary bread bowl and olives! For dessert, I had the "Lemon Sorbetto" (served in a frozen lemon shell) paired with a glass of their delicious housemade "Limoncello". It was the perfect way to end a fantastic meal! We hope to be back!

I didn't mind that much since it was actually pretty tight and cozy so it actually brought up the energy I think. We already had reservations, so we received a fairly quickly, and the white stuff were very professional and courteous. The food did not disappoint. The calamari came out fresh and hot. Crispy and the banana peppers gave it just the right heat. The marinara sauce paired well with it. The Lobster Fra Diavolo was done in a cute heart shaped, so that was delightful. Lobster was done perfectly and the slightly spicy sauce of the pasta paired beautifully. My favorite was actually the marsala. The Fusilli was done perfectly al dente and soaked in that delicious sauce that was flavorful and clung so well to the pasta. The chicken breast was well marinated and super tender and juicy. Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to order this again next time.

Cafe Amaro....No Bene!…read more North End is one of my favorite Boston neighborhoods for Italian food especially Pizza. But this time, not so much! We walked in here on a Sunday afternoon and stopped at Cafe Amaro since they had open tables. The restaurant is very small probably about 10 or so tables. We sat right up against the kitchen which was warm since it was a bit chilly outside. After about 5-8 minutes went by our server came over and we asked to sample 2 glasses of wine. They were not good at all. After tasting one more we finally landed on the Chianti. We then waited longer to place our order which was the Prosciutto and Fig pizza. I also ordered a soda water with lemon which never came. Note: there are 2 servers and I believe 1 speaks English but I am not 100% sure. Once our server finally came over my husband had to remind him of the soda water which he proceeded to say "we only have large bottles." Ok, thanks for letting me know since the other server/busser did not. Does he work here? Does he know the menu? Why wouldn't he tell me this the first place? Our pizza finally came and even after ordering it well done it was still floppy and flimsy to the point when everytime we went to pick up the slice everything fell off...UGH! I don't know how in the North End this place gets by or survives? Maybe they were having an off day? I do see other reviews that had better experiences than ours. Maybe they were short on staff? If that was the case then say something because I probably would've had more patience and understanding if this was the case. BTW, Our server NEVER came over after ordering our wines and pizza. He never asked "how is everything?" NEVER... I also rarely give one/two stars to restaurants but this was despicable and I really hope this is not their norm. All I have to say is there are so many other better restaurants in the North End to go to, but Cafe Amaro is not one of them.

I ordered the Espresso Martini, which I learned the restaurant is famous for and after tasting it I understand while. I want to put the disclaimer that I am allergic to nuts, so I didn't have it how the restaurant traditionally prepares it (using Amaretto) but it still tasted excellent. The Espresso Martini was perfectly balanced between bitter and sweet and the had the perfect amount of foam on top. For my meal I got the Shrimp pasta with Zucchini. The shrimp was tender and the noodles were cooked to a perfect al dente. The zucchini added a nice contrast to the rich tomato sauce and helped make the dish feel light even though it was a bowl of pasta. My only complaint that the restaurant is very dim especially upstairs. Some people at our table joked that they might need to use their phone flashlight to read the menu, so if you are someone who struggles to see in dimly lit places keep that in mind.

The lobster was overcooked so it was on the rubbery size. The pasta was undercooked and hard. The pasta portion size was tiny like an appetizer for the cost of $34 for 5-6 pieces of pasta. The swordfish in the brodetto was pretty hard and I found some sand in my clams. The salmon was also very expensive for the small portion size. For appetizers I did like how they wrapped the lemon in a net so the seeds wouldn't fall out. The mashed potatoes were also nice and creamy. The zucchini flowers were good but pretty expensive for just 2.

They get SUPER packed on weekends especially & I definitely recommend making reservations instead of relying on walk-in. We made a reservation on a Saturday at 9pm & we still had to wait ~30 min for our table to be ready, because of how busy they were. Now, they do move pretty quick though! Once we were seated & gave our server our order, our food came in a timely manner. We ordered: -calamari -trombetta al pesto -chicken parm -carbonara w/ chicken cutlet The calamari was quite yummy. It tasted fresh and the batter was light but still crispy. We even debated on getting another order of the calamari! Trombetta al pesto is what I personally had. Good portion size & loved the pesto sauce. I did wish it came with a protein but that's okay. The pesto is on the herb-ier side as opposed to garlicky, so keep that in mind if you're not too big on herb heavy taste. I personally loved it though. The pasta was also cooked al dente, PERFECTO! The chicken parm was demolished within minutes of arriving to our table, so that should tell you how good it was haha. Now, for the carbonara with chicken cutlet, the pasta was cooked perfectly. Nice and al dente but we wished that we had gotten grilled chicken breast instead of the breaded chicken cutlet, as it probably would've paired better with the dish. Overall, I think Trattoria Il Panino is a solid spot to go for a sit-down lunch or dinner! I liked that even though we did have to wait a bit for our table with reservations, we didn't have to really wait for our food after ordering. We were here to celebrate a friend's birthday - Trombetta al pesto The pesto sauce was on the herbier side, i prefer more of a garlic pesto but still delicious! - chicken parm with ziti - actually a much smaller portion then expected, would have liked a bit more ziti to chicken cutlet ratio. BDay boy inhaled it anyways. - chicken cutlet carbonara spaghetti i probably would have opted for the grilled chicken over a cutlet next time. For me it was a bit dry with the cutlet and needed MORE sauce for the dish overall. Overall though it was still a good pasta. All the pastas were al dente. Came out hot and quick. We really liked the calamari, fresh, not chewy, not overly battered. Would def get two of these next time! The staff was super nice, got a tiramisu desert for the birthday boy! Nice light and a sugar kick.
