The restaurant is unpretentious and very small, with room for only about 20-24 people total, so do make reservations in advance. We went for our anniversary and had a delicious meal served by efficient and engaging waitresses. We ordered too much because it all sounded so good in the Yelp reviews, but we'll get to enjoy the leftovers tomorrow. Started out with the tapenade and a generous amount of Italian bread (extra bread was brought when we ran out), then tried the very tasty seasonal burrata with peaches appetizer for me and baked clams for my husband. (That was the only part of the meal that disappointed him a bit--I think he'll be more adventurous the next time we go. The clams were fine but not especially notable.) For the primi course, we shared the smaller-sized order of orechiette with sausage and pesto--delicious and plenty for us. We actually could have happily stopped at that point and ordered dessert, but we had already committed to a main course and were glad we did. My halibut was delicious (with crunchy, perfectly cooked green beans along with potatoes and mushrooms), and he really liked his chicken Milanese. The grand finale was the delicious black and white creme brulee--perfectly torched on top to caramelize the sugar, delicious vanilla and chocolate underneath. The service was outstanding. Everything came at exactly the right time so that a four-course dinner took only an hour and a half. We will definitely be back!

A stunning culinary experience tucked in the heart of Stony Brook Village! Luca is an absolute gem--elevated, elegant, and soulful. From the moment we sat down, it was clear we were in for something special. We started with the Marcelli Formaggi Artisan Cheese Plate imported from Abruzzo, Italy. Each cheese was uniquely crafted and thoughtfully paired--rich, tangy, and creamy textures balanced by a savory tomato jam and crisp grissini. Next came the Chickpea Panelle--a showstopper. Crispy, earthy, and layered with escarole, cannellini beans, capers, and a zesty lemon-sesame drizzle. A gorgeous fusion of Sicilian flavors with modern flair. The Porcini Mushroom Mezzaluna was swimming in the dreamiest butter-dill sauce, complemented by the woodsy bite of cremini mushrooms. Comfort food with finesse. We also couldn't get enough of the Sautéed Greens with Sesame--light, flavorful, and refreshingly simple. It offered a perfect balance to the richness of the pasta. Drinks were just as thoughtful: Refreshing Gin Spritz and a moody, citrusy Old Fashioned. Both were beautifully balanced and picture-perfect. For dessert, the Tiramisu was next-level--cloud-like layers of mascarpone, cocoa, and just the right touch of rum and tend coffee. And don't skip the Sicilian Gelato--ultra-smooth, authentically creamy, and a blissful end to an unforgettable meal. Luca nails it across the board--ambience, service, presentation, and flavor. Whether you're celebrating or simply craving exceptional Italian cuisine with a twist, this spot is a must-visit. @lucastonybrook -- thank you for the magic. We'll be back soon! read more

My husband and I were longtime customers of Luca and always loved coming here, so when my mother-in-law gifted us a $150 gift card for our engagement, we were thrilled to use it. Unfortunately, we lost the physical card in a move. We called Luca, hoping they could look up the purchase in their system and help us recover it. The entire experience was deeply disappointing. When my mother-in-law called, she was met with suspicion, as if she was running a scam, despite her offering to provide proof of purchase. The hostess gave her the cold shoulder and repeatedly said there was nothing they could do. My husband then called himself to explain the situation, and again the response was curt and dismissive. We asked several times to speak with the manager, only to be refused and told a message would be passed along. No one ever returned our call. What should have been a simple customer service issue turned into a frustrating and disrespectful interaction. The refusal to even look into the matter or have management follow up shows a serious lack of professionalism and care for customers. This experience left such a bad impression that we will not be returning, and I urge others to think twice before purchasing a gift card here. read more

If you are looking for a dining experience that makes you feel like royalty, look no further than Luca. We spent our Valentine's Day here, and to say we were impressed would be an understatement--we were absolutely blown away. From the moment we walked in, the staff treated us with a level of grace and attentiveness that is rare to find. They didn't just provide service; they provided hospitality in its purest form. Every interaction was thoughtful, elegant, and perfectly timed. Why it stands out: * The Atmosphere: Incredibly romantic and curated. It strikes that difficult balance of being high-end and sophisticated while remaining warm and welcoming. * Privacy: Despite it being one of the busiest nights of the year, the layout felt intimate and private. We never felt rushed or crowded. * The Staff: Truly the best in the business. They were proactive and incredibly observant, ensuring every detail of our meal was seamless. Luca is a gem for anyone celebrating a special occasion or just looking for an amazing meal. We left feeling pampered and appreciated. Thank you to the entire team for making our Valentine's Day unforgettable! read more

Il Piccolo Villaggio one of people's favorite Italian places in Long Island, some call the hidden gem! If you are new to this place you might love it, like I did throughout the times I've been to this restaurant. Now, this restaurant not too long ago was full of some of the greatest servers I've seen in the Island and had an absolute outstanding incredible service! But it's coming to an end. When you go to an Italian restaurant you expect great food and great service with an adult and people with experience make your night. Lately this restaurant has had many issues with that now is full of kids and girls trying to do this job like is a game, don't get me wrong I am not against female servers or kids getting new jobs, but for me this is not the place to be if you are going to do the real server/waiter/waitress job. Water not being served, not knowing THEIR OWN MENU, not serving the wine after they sell like its self service. If you sell pour help the costumer serve the wine don't just open serve one time and leave because you will not get a good tip and even ask for a good review like this girl does. You walk by or just sitting down you see people looking for their server to ask for water or pour wine themselves. Now why the 3 stars and not 2 or 1? I still see this kid Jeff and always with a good smile on his face, the last good and old school server I know after the 2 old ones left, this kid and the food is the reason some people do go back. Many will say oh it's just because you like this kid but no. Go yourself ask for him and you will see a difference in the service! Sometimes the menu and specials are repetitive and I I tell him make me something he always surprises me! His way of serving the old school way makes me feel hope for this restaurant. One of the worst dining experiences we've had in a very long time…read more My family has been coming to this restaurant for 20 years since they opened and before this, to Anton's when they were just a small pizzeria in the King Kullen shopping center. We've celebrated holidays here, hosted parties here, and have always spoken highly of it--which made this experience even more disappointing. We took my mother out for Mother's Day shortly after my father passed away, hoping for a nice family meal. Instead, we were treated terribly from start to finish. We were seated late at a cramped table for three, despite having a reservation. Our server, J***, didn't check on us the entire evening. She didn't tell us the specials until we specifically asked, and then responded sarcastically with, "Oh, you want to hear the specials?" It took an hour just to receive appetizers, and no server initially came over to take our order until we spoke to the mother of the owners, who we didn't see at all. My husband and I would always talk to one of the brothers. We waited excessively for simple things like sweetener and iced tea. At one point, a young staff member told us there was no sweetener available at all. It honestly felt like our server may have been pulled from another role just to "help out," because the service was so disorganized. What made it worse was the complete lack of professionalism from the front staff. The two people seating guests looked miserable and unfriendly. It was apparent they were probably family, because they had no qualms about doing their jobs badly. When we raised concerns, one of the two unhappy women--who was extremely cold and dismissive--actually told us that she waits three hours when she goes out to eat, as though that somehow excused our experience. We also noticed staff talking about us, which was incredibly unprofessional and uncomfortable. What was most frustrating was seeing groups of employees standing around while service was clearly falling apart. Being busy is understandable--(it was used as an excuse for everything going wrong), especially on Mother's Day--but after 20 years in business, a restaurant should know how to handle a busy night without everything unraveling. The food was disappointing as well--my veal was tough--and at no point did anyone apologize, offer any gesture of goodwill (not even a complimentary coffee), or acknowledge how poorly our evening had gone. Not even a simple "Happy Mother's Day" or goodbye as we left and we walked right by the cold, dismissive woman. The actual only highlight of our evening was when a wonderful server named Iverson came over to finish up with us, because clearly having to ask our server for sweetener three times forced her to have a possible meltdown? Unfortunately it was way too late, the damage had already been done. Now that's a charming individual, who is great with people! It certainly would have helped make a difference in our experience. This was especially heartbreaking because this restaurant has meant something to our family for years. Sadly, after this experience, we won't be returning. There are too many other restaurants that know how to treat loyal customers with respect.
