I ordered the festive package with turkey breast plus carrot salad and green beans. From package both gravies did not look appetizing and did not taste very good had to throw them away. Brown gravy more or less but decided to give it away most of us (6 out of 7 adults) the turkey breast was delicious but took 2 hours in the oven to be ready. The Pie I ordered apple and came pecan pie instead. I do not mind but I have a pecan orchard, I do not need to buy more pecans Stuffing ok but 1 would have been enough. read more

Luby's is a great restaurant to eat at, normally. However, this experience was tainted because of a lack of attention to simple detail and logic on a server's part. I enjoyed that since we weren't going to eat a salad, we were allowed to skip ahead in the line. I ordered my usual, which is a chicken fried chicken, mash potatoes, and maccarroni. The chicken fried chicken takes up a large portion of the main course plate. On previous occasions, they serve me the chicken fried chicken and the maccarroni on one single plate and the mash potatoes on a separate plate and hand me both separately. This time, the final server (she looked young and inexperienced) served the mash potatoes on a separate smaller plate (as expected), looked at the main course plate with no more room, paused for a moment, and instead of handing me both plates separately, she proceeded to shove the mashed potatoes plate against the maccarroni, moving it around and making a big mess. Then she gave me the plate. I told her, "I really wish you hadn't done that." She dismissed my comment and attended the next person. I spoke with a manager and told him upfront that I wasn't looking for a discount nor a free meal. I wanted to inform him, though, of the improper way of handling the situation. He chose to defend the girl by ensuring me that all their plates are highly sanitized, if that was the concern for me. I said, that's not the issue. Every time I touch the plate, my hands get dirty because there's maccarroni all under it. The table gets dirty, the napkins everything. He said he'd look into it. After our conversation, he never returned to our table to check how we were doing. read more

Initially I had placed a to-go order and they got it wrong. I was unhappy. I gave the restaurant a call and Mr Hernandez, the manager, made it all right. Went out of his way to make the situation better and make sure everything was taken care of whenever I had a chance to go back. Great food, great service, and an outstanding manager who just gets it. Lubys is great when you have kids as they eat free Mon- Wed and they don't have funky rules like max 2 kids. It's just one free meal per paying adult plate. I live their baked fish and their spinach soufflé was excellent. I couldn't believe I hadn't wrote a review yet as I have eaten here several times. I recommend baked fish or baked chicken. If you like fried foods get the chicken fried chicken. My kids love the tenders, fried fish and Mac n cheese. I just wish they'd was their dishes better. read more

This is how every Lubys should be. The location on Jackson and 83 is well lit, plentiful seating, and most importantly TVs tuned to important events. That's just the start. You walk in and your olfactory nerve is firing. So many fresh choices it's hard to choose. However with this many options everyone's palate can be satisfied. I opted for the chicken tenders. I like this style of the Luby's cafeteria (Layout). More modern and updated, but can be a long wait with the lines being slow. The bathroom were smelling in the eating area. Why do all the ladies behind the food have attitude or making a I don't wanna be here face and why on earth do I see advertisements for add 3 or 6 fried shrimp when every time you ask they say we don't have any only grilled w bacon. Not everyone eats bacon so stop advertising something you won't serve. This is all the valley Luby's to be exact the only one that will serve the fried shrimp is S 10th but don't get it twisted lots of attitude as well behind the glass. (RANT) Food was delish! Service sucked! No one greeted us, nor helped us with our treys 2 out of 2 time that I went there. Never got a refill so my hubby had to get up and go serve himself, the women at cashier chargeing said our waiter needs to get it for us, and we basically said "what waiter" we've been drink less for 15 min's. Speaking of refill's one waiter saw that we didn't have drinks as they were at the end up the table. And she just turned away like she didn't and kept on walking talking to a man that was alone for about 5 min's on and off. My hubby went to the rest room because he got cake on his shirt and I had to take my toddler to do his bussniess we made it clear we weren't done as we still had half a cake left. Went back out to see that they were almost done cleaning off our table. Didn't take them long to do that almost in 2min's that we were away but it took 15 min's for us to get our own drinks?! What?! Lunch at Luby's was great! I had baked chicken, zucchini and yellow squash medley, red potatoes and a whole wheat roll for $6 Luann platter. The chicken was so juicy and tasty, the veggies were cooked to perfection, just a very good lunch. The servers, the cashier and the waitress were friendly and very efficient! Great place nice and comfortable dining. Cool that they have TV's around the entire area and a bar section just a plus! Getting service at your table is a little hit or miss as well, but overall it's Luby's and if you have food standards they make it good most of the times. Will go back again...uh, and again! read more
