Unacceptable

I wouldn't give this place a star but unfortunately I had to. First time here and last time . The food has no flavor and for the price it's not worth it. Also they had a kitchen pot holding up the buffet table front and center . Our server never came back to check up on our drinks . I had to flag down 2 servers and 1 completely ignored us. Management needs to work over all on everything from appearance / presentation, restrooms, food flavor. In my case I didn't get what I paid for.

They're posted price is not the price they charge you once you get in the door . It's the old bathing switch trick.

Based on that first review I was concerned, but they had only been open a month so we gave it a…read moretry. Soooo glad we did! Looks like the "just opening kinks" are worked out. ~ All their tortillas are homemade on site. ~ Lots of choices on the buffet from tacos, to salad, to fish, etc. ~ The staff is fantastic! All smiles, attentive and super helpful. ~ The cherry cobbler was wondermous! Great location and great food...We will definitely be back!

We entered the restaurant and saw an employee using an electronic flyswatter chasing flys around…read morethe Buffet. Only 2 other couples or so sitting and eating. I tried the cod, the chopped steak And charro beans. The cod was cold, the steak was luke warm And beans had a salty weird after taste. New hot pan of cheese enchiladas were brought out, I got 3 and could only eat 2 1/4. Too much veleta like cheese. 2nd piece of cod just as cold. Pineapple chunks and Watermelon little colder than Luke warm. The entire time there were flys landing on the buffet. (Cold and hot). There were NOT a lot of flys but enough to make it noticeable. After more people came in (closer to noon) the fly swatter was put away. Upon entering, it was noticed that Christian music was being played through the sound system. One employee stood out who's back of shirt read "Made in Hell". Really? Why allow him to walk around swatting flys in a restaurant playing music that honors Jesus wearing that shirt?? Even though my stomach got full, I probably won't be back. Had to ask for my drink that I paid for even after having water brought to my table. When the Waitress refilled my drink the 2nd time it was Not what I was drinking. Not sure warmers and coolers are working or if they are even warmers or coolers.

Really disappointed with my visit. Service was disorganized and inattentive -- we had to ask twice…read morefor drinks, lemons never arrived, plates sat uncleared, and my steak came out overcooked. They were also out of the bacon-wrapped scallops we came specifically to try. But the worst part? The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. There was used toilet paper with feces on it facing up in the stall -- completely unacceptable and made me question the hygiene standards of the entire place. This was not worth the money or the time. I hope management steps up and makes serious improvements. I won't be returning unless I hear things have changed.

Place has potential. The restaurant itself looks pricey and the wait staff very professional. The…read morewood walls and bar look very nice. The Shrimp Boil, fried oysters, and Oysters Rockefeller were good but could use a bit more attention to seasoning. The oysters Rockefeller did try to get a smoke flavor but fell short on the size of the oysters. Fried shrimp and chicken were on the dry side. I also tried the ribeye. The ribeye 1/2" cut (?) was a bit on the chewy side and a little dry. Seafood gumbo did not impress me much. Visually, I could see it needed spices. I added some of the seafood boil sauce and it tasted better Corn on the Cobb was GREAT, so was the boiled crab legs were also GREAT! Lots of patrons on Sunday. I think this place has a lot of potential and if they work on a unique seasoning, they will be a great place to dine! The service was good.

My family and I were out of town so we decided to go eat at a Mexican restaurant. The only reason…read morewhy I'm giving them 3 stars after this experience is because the woman that tended to us was very sweet. The food was okay nothing to rave about but, we found a hair in one of our dishes. Gross I know! The woman wanted to charge us half of the dish but he was so disgusted that he didn't finish we were not gonna pay for a dish with a hair in it. Please be careful while you eat your food here.

There are large screen TVs on 2 of the walls and you can actually hear the program that is airing. I liked that the audio was not muted and that the program was kind of interesting (no Fox News!) I didn't spend much time looking at the menu so I cannot comment on prices. I did see that the selection included the usual dishes. I had the buffet instead. The buffet had an interesting mix of Mexican and American dishes: chalupas (meatless), 2 kinds of fajitas, sliced smoked sausage with sauteed onions and peppers, meatloaf, picadillo con papas, instant mashed potatoes, peas & carrots, onion rings (similar to those that come in a red & yellow bag from the freezer case), quesadillas, chiles relleños (filled with picadillo con papas), cheese enchiladas, Mexican rice, 2 types of pinto beans (a la charra and refritos), 2 types of caldo (chicken and beef), liver & onions and a cold area with fresh fruit and basic salad ingredients. The waiter will also bring you hot tortillas if you like, offering your choice of flour, corn or a mix. I tried a variety of dishes and was surprised that almost all lacked salt and seasoning. The food looked fresh but...had so little flavor. I'm not usually one to salt my food at the table, either at home or at a restaurant. But I had to salt my food here (except for the meatloaf) because it otherwise was bland. Also, I could not spot any ketchup. Some people like it with their onion rings and meatloaf, perhaps other food too. The caldo was oily and without flavor. If you want fresh lime wedges (which really are standard at most local Tex-Mex restaurants) you must ask for them, they are not available even with the fruit at the salad bar. The service was good. The tableware given by the waiter consisted of a single fork rolled inside a paper napkin, no knife or spoon. If you need them, you get your own from the holder near the buffet. The dishes are the same boring tan-colored melamine that so many places use. Payment is at the end of your meal, at a station near the door. One lunch buffet and one drink, plus tax cost almost $10.00. So will I go back? Nope, not when Taco Fiesta is just across the street. If you wonder how business compares between the two neighboring restaurants, consider this: Taco Fiesta is so busy at lunchtime that they have a man driving a golf cart to ferry customers to and from their cars in the church parking lot nearby. Next time I'm in the neighborhood, I won't hesitate to dine at Taco Fiesta.
