I had a great experience at Grand Buffet China. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of dishes, and everything tasted fresh. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout my visit. I would definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great buffet. read more

When this place open at first, the food was amazing Drinks were Great with enough water carbonation and with a reasonable price! Waiters were always very respectful and friendly. Always making sure you had or needed anything else. Now the food is horrible from texture to flavor, the drink drinks always seem to be flat and overpriced for the Buffet. Sorry, but I will not be coming here in a long while. Don't get me wrong. The environment is always great and the place is always clean. read more

horrible service. Medium flavored food that we couldn't even eat because it was so packed. Safety hazards everywhere. They serve tables by people, not order #. We complained about the service/wait-time and they made little comments to each other. Definitely do not recommen at ALL. Ruined my family's Mother's Day. read more

This place don't have hours of operation at the door, we came in and paid and few minutes later they told us we had to go. The food was old, they do not add more food. They keep coming to the table to ask if we were going to eat more because they want to start closing. The soups are old, not many options of food. I do not recommend this place. 0 stars read more

Idk about those bad comments but here's one that's the best place a have been going for the past 8 years man really good food, and tasty too man I recommend a 10 stars read more

Food is great waitresses were awesome but the female hostess was unprofessional because she picking her teeth. Was disgusting. And no one answers the phone read more

Good selection and variety of Asian cuisine. Lots of space and waiting staff was very attentive to refills or special requests.

Came for their lunch hour and it was roughly $11.99 per adult. They have a really good variety! My favorite items were the fried jalapeños with cream cheese (so crispy & fresh!) and the spicy stir fried shrimp (the shrimp was perfectly seasoned & bouncy and it was not too spicy). Their dessert bar isn't the greatest which is why I knocked of a star... They had just a few stale cookies and prepackaged cake bites. I would have loved to see more variety! Otherwise, I had a great time and enjoyed the food here. Definitely worth stopping by to try them, especially for the price! read more

I knew the food would be good because the place was packed with people. I went with my husband and mother-in-law, and we all enjoyed the food very much. There was a huge selection to choose from. My favorite was the squid/calamari. It was so yummy and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. The atmosphere was nice too. My mother-in-law did have a little bit of difficulty navigating with her roller walker because there were so many people and the tables were a little too close together. read more

I should have given more credit to the poor reviews on this one. Grand China Buffet at the Pharr Town Center has a nice new building but their buffet line food is yuck. "Hot" items were lukewarm or cool except for a couple of things they had just set out. So the buffet warmer wasn't working or the food was way too old. The General Tso chicken was gooey. The sweet and sour sauce was watered down and tasteless. Egg rolls were soft and lukewarm. Cheese wontons were nicely stuffed but, again, not hot nor crispy. Also, way too sweet. My son tried the crayfish and said it lacked seasoning as compared to other Chinese buffets. The fried calamari was overdone and way too rubbery. There were a few dishes like the chicken and broccoli which was OK, but nothing special. The cold boiled shrimp was served on ice and good. The fried rice and lo mein noodles were average. The dessert bar was unspectacular: banana with a red sauce, custard type pie, rice crispy treats, etc. :-/ The best thing was the ice cream, nothing special, but real. However the water in the pan the used scoops are kept in needed changing. Actually, nice places have continually running water to keep it fresh. The best food offered is the Mongolian Grill, and the cook does a great job of that. The raw items to select could use more variety but were fresh. You assemble what you desire cooked together, add the sauces, oils and seasoning and wait your turn. When he's done he hands it to you hot. I waited about ten minutes. With only one cook, I can only imagine the line had the restaurant been full. There are no vegetarian protein options on the buffet. We asked if they might add one. No. We had to insist all the way to the manager. Her first response was negative but we persisted and suggested some tofu from the kitchen be provided so my daughter could assemble a Mongolian grill plate. Again, the first response was negative but after both me and my wife insisting she did finally go and retrieve some tofu. By that time it was hard to keep a good feeling about the place. (That was before I even got to the actual buffet.) The server though not helpful regarding vegetarian protein option (he suggested "salad" which was chopped iceberg lettuce), was friendly and did a great job with drink refills. SUMMARY: The dining room looks nice and modern. Great parking and location. The lighting is great. The bathrooms needed attention. The server did well. The manager knows nothing about vegetarian food and lacks customer service skills. The prices are a little more than some other buffets. Overall the food was yuck to average. Mongolian grill is good if you have time to stand in line. No vegetarian protein options. I won't be back. Added note: There are rooms available for private parties. read more

I was asking for the recipe and and I couldn't even get any food because the waiter was telling me that I had to wait. I sat there for three hours doing nothing so I just decided to get up and leave. read more

The best thing I can say is the waitress brought me the correct soda and kept it filled. It's a great place for all you can drink soda.

The waitress rolled her eyes at me when I asked what soft drinks they carried. The food was luke warm and just mediocre

Horrible service before having a chance to eat. We were harassed by Summer who ran the cash register when we asked about being charged for gloves? She initially hid our receipt and only wanted us to see the signed customer copy. I thought that was shady all while I was reading their displayed notices of food sharing and zero tolerance of aggressive behavior? Was that their notice to treat their patrons that way? Completely inexcusable!! She never disclosed the charge of gloves and I told her that was unethical and she told me that it's always been a charge. On top of hiding the receipt with those charges. I had to ask to see the full receipt. After we were taken to our table, my wife went to get food as I waited, and Summer targeted my wife soon as she was serving herself food, ran over to her demanding that stew surrender get food. She was very animated in an angry tone telling my wife that she couldn't eat because we didn't pay for gloves. Summer was completely rude and totally disrespectful. I asked to see the manager about this situation and said she was the manager. I asked to see the owner and was told by another coworker that the owner is in NJ or NY. He said that Summer wasn't even the manager. This has been the worst display of customer service and from someone who claimed to be a manager of Grand China Buffett. Horrible experience. Would give zero stars if possible. read more

The buffet is very large and food is fresh. The hot and sour soup was excellent as was all the food I tried. The stuffed jalapenos and bacon wrapped jalapenos were very good. The dumplings were goog as was all the food on the buffet. The restaurant is very clean and you have to wear a mask and gloves at the buffet. read more

Terrible service by the same man that has been at the Mongolian grill station for many years. Needed my food well done because of my pregnancy and when he was asked to remake it he made it even worse. He purposely left it less time on the grill even after I explained why. Manager was not even at the restaurant when I asked to speak to them about the bad service. Never went back again. read more

13.99 plus tax with no drink. Seems kinda expensive for lunch. Just average if you a lot of food.

The food is good just about any time of the day because this buffet has a regular turnaround of customers. While there the food on the buffet was regularly stirred and resupplied. There is a constant billow of steam coming from the heated serving islands and the heat lamps keep everything looking and smelling fresh. My wife and I enjoy this buffet just about every time we are in town. The two reasons I did not give them 5 stars are the horrible tasting fountain drinks and the level of noise that the bussing staff makes. Order water. The Pepsi and Sierra Mist taste nothing like the real thing. In fact, the fountain drinks taste like cleaning chemicals. It's really bad. Take my word for it. The bussing staff seams to make noise in purpose - throwing dirty dishes into kitchen carts and slamming freeze doors constantly. It's really annoying! Enjoy! read more

The price is okay for the lack of variety. The ice cream was good. The fried fish was pretty burnt though

The food is always fresh and they are taking food service to another level their staff is nice and always a good atmosphere

do not come here. service was bad, the food was not worth price we paid, every employee and server we came in contact with was either rude, not helpful, demanding, and in our personal space (bumping, shoving, etc) . food was stale, cold, had hairs, and was over all a messy business. however, coffee cake was fire. if we could ZERO stars. read more

This buffet is very typical of Asian buffets in the RGV. It offers variety, but I will say some of the dishes were cold when I got to the table. The Mongolian was prepared well and ready quickly. They offer sushi, but I didn't taste it. I will probably eat here again. read more

I wish I can give negative stars for this place. I went to Visit my boyfriend's grandparents in Alamo, and they decided to go to this place for his grandpa's birthday lunch . Never been to a Chinese buffet that I have to pay before going in. Ok ..maybe they do things differently . Food are totally not Chinese food and sushi looked disgusting and I didn't even bother to get any of them. I started feeling a little dizzy and was thinking maybe I ate too much or it was too crowded there. I normally have about 3-5 plates at a buffet but I only got 2 plates at this place (not even a full plate) Went back to grandparents house and I felt sick and literally threw up . X_x read more

Will not be going there anymore. There was a child whom grabbed a piece of jello and spit it back into tray of jello. Plus licked the tongs. I notified staff so no-one would get some and all staff did was take out bitten piece and took tongs. Rolls are hard. They put old ones on top and mix in new food with old. read more

The bad reviews must be from their old building. The new restaurant is amazing. Very clean and plenty of room. Biggest and best Chinese buffet I've ever had. Food is amazing. Selection is out of this world. The chicken salad is best I have ever had...simply excellent. Even better than Zoes! The staff is friendly and prompt to refill your drink and clear your plates so you can get more. I travel allot and go to buffets all over Texas. This is by far the best. I can't wait to try the Mongolian bbq on my next trip. I have found a new best place to eat in the valley... read more

We are a family of six. 2 adults 4 kids. They place you in the very back and ARE NOT courteous they are in professional and do not show caring. Grand China Buffet - Let's see how it goes it looks like it'll be pretty good - Chinese Near Me - Pharr, Texas

OMG just to begin with they don't let us sit in the table we wanted. She went to ask the manager if they can allowed us to seat we wanted, we were 6 persons and we wanted a 6 seat table, she had to ask for authorization and finally we did. The waitress came and said my kids were drinking from the same glass and that she was going to charge us another drink, we told her OK and please leave us alone because she was acting very rude, she was yelling at us not being nice or kind at all. We called the manager but he didn't help at all. My husband went to the cashier and paid for the extra drink and the cashier called the cops on him saying the owner wanted us out of his restaurant. 8 cops came inside to take us out of the place. We still can't believe the lack of professionalism of the staff and we are amazed they really called the cops and kicked us out. We paid over $90 for the worst meal ever! I do not recommend this place and I'm suing, there's cameras, there was no reason to treat us that way. read more

Visited today for a nice lunch with my husband. We had to wear a mask going in but not while eating. As we were sitting there eating our meal I saw the waitresses cleaning and disinfecting as they so call it tables with only a dish rag. That is not disinfecting that's just wiping the crumbs off the table. The place was packed with people waiting to be seated. No social distancing whatsoever. We didn't even finish our food and left. Disgusting. read more

Food and drinks incredibly over priced family of four over 50.00 dollars, the jalapeño shrimp was not deveined the fried shrimp was mainly batter. My favorite buffet so far in the RGV, lots of different foods and sushi. Would recommend to go!

Stood there waiting for 20 minutes for the dinner sushi while the chef made special plates for preferred customers. When I asked if I had to get in line to special order she said she didn't speak English. Told the lady in front and she didn't seem to care. Guess they have enough business that they don't have to care. The people behind me even finished their preferred plate while I still waited. Didn't even finish my dinner and left read more

What a bad experience, before I ever got any food I already knew I'm only giving them 1 star. When you first walk in there is such an overwhelming stench it buckles ur knees. Seriously, change that carpet that's between the door and the counter!!! Is the staff smell intolerant?? When I finally sat down this Asian waitress asked me what I want to drink and I told her unsweetened tea. Then she said "sweet tea", and I politely said "no, unsweetened". So she again said "sweet tea", and for the third time I told her unsweetened. Then she went into a tantrum and started yelling at me in Chinese and waving her arms. Everyone started looking at us as if I asked her for tiger blood or something. I actually apologized to everyone around me and told them that I don't know what happened, that all I wanted was an unsweetened tea. And then she just left and brought me an unsweetened tea. So just to get even I asked for a lemon in my tea. (haha, and she brought me a like). Want my advise: stay away!!!! read more
