We called a couple of service centers, but was told depending on how many cars were ahead of mine and given a number of unnecessary comments although they could have been useful if I had a time sensitive constraint. But I did not. My daughter and I arrived about an hour later to Master Care Lube and Tune and our car was immediately seen. They have multiple car bays so oil changes take place while other car services take place in a separate bay. The inspection was done in less than 15 minutes we were on our way. We happen to be driving through and came from a much larger metropolitan area so the cost was considerably less than what we were accustomed. They replaced the harmonic balancer, idler pulley, serpentine belt, and performed an oil change. On August 27, 2025, my car stalled out with no power and had to be towed back. That Friday morning, the shop told me they could not figure it out and asked me to tow it elsewhere. I did. The new mechanic immediately discovered that when Brakemasters replaced the harmonic balancer, the repair had not been done correctly--the bolt could literally be removed by hand. This caused the part to slip, leading to catastrophic engine damage. I attempted to resolve this directly with the store. I spoke with Curtis, who was dismissive, rude, and adamant that no mistake had been made. On September 2, 2025, I reached out to corporate and spoke with Christian Smith, who returned my call on September 3. He apologized, explained in detail what had happened, and admitted liability. He assured me Brakemasters would "make this right" and that my engine would be replaced either through their corporate account or insurance. Unfortunately, Brakemasters opted to turn this over to Nationwide Insurance, which now wants to total my car. That option does not make me whole--it leaves me without a vehicle and does not even cover the payoff balance. On September 9, I again contacted Christian, making it clear that a payout would not resolve this issue and that I simply needed the repair done. Since then, corporate has completely ghosted me. On September 11, Nationwide informed me that Brakemasters would no longer respond or engage with me and that they would only "settle" through insurance. To this day, Brakemasters has not refunded the money I paid for the faulty repair, nor have they taken responsibility for correcting the damage their negligence caused. My car has now been sitting at another mechanic's shop for over three weeks. This is not how you fix a mistake. This is not ethical business practice. I did not want to post negatively, but I've been forced to. This matter is being reported to the Better Business Bureau, the Arizona Attorney General, and the Texas Attorney General. It is astounding to me that a company can cause this kind of damage, openly admit fault, then abandon the customer entirely. Brakemasters has done nothing to make this right.

It was also very fast but no free vacuums and they wouldn't lend me a towel to wipe the windshield droplets. Just a heads up.

I usually go to Costco for my oil change but since there's only one in El Paso, the wait is usually horrendous. I saw that the gym faced a autobody shop (Coronado Autobody) and I walked there and asked the mechanics if they had time for an oil change. They explained I had to go around to the front office and ask the receptionist, so I did. Wow, what I witnessed was CARE: Liz the receptionist asked and remembered every single client that walked in and what state of repair or disrepair their car was in. I felt like I was in good hands and then I spied a BEST OF YELP 2008 certificate on their wall, and my decision was validated. I went up and asked about the oil change not sure if they would take me 20 mins before closing. She was going to ask, but the nice mechanic came in and told her they would take me. Their prices were fair $40 for a standard oil change and $60 for full synthetic. They got me in and out of there in 20 mins. and it wasn't bells and whistles but seeing repeat clients and how much they trusted them made me feel sure they took care of my car as well.
