Given that there's no direct competition in a 10 mile radius (and I would argue even past that 10 mile radius the pickings are slim) the price is justifiable for the quality you get. As someone who treks a lot around the state, I find that there are many bakeries that do similar if not better items for comparable if not lower prices. But to ask someone to drive 30-60 minutes just to get something a couple bucks cheaper that's tastes about the same? It's a hard sale. I will say that Luanne's is the best in that area of the state, not including the small boutique places that are well off the beaten path. I still come here for the view and ambiance, but I don't order much of their food.

I tried one of their fall specials, the cookie butter cold brew. I am picky with cold brew, but this was excellent, and the cookie butter complimented it well. I'm removing a star because the standards seem to be slipping a bit. They switched their bakery and although recently they've been experimenting with their in house baking there's a notable difference between what they outsource and what they make in house. The in house stuff is significantly better in terms of quality and freshness, and although priced high they are usually worth the price. The outsourced items don't seem as fresh and it's hard to justify the prices. The coffee is still balanced between the earthy coffee and the house made flavors for their lattes. The experience has been a bit colder as of late, which is fine if you're grabbing a cup to go, but not if you intend to write some reviews while enjoying a cup. That coupled with the multiple times there's been equipment failures which forced me to go someplace else. I honestly cannot state this is worth the trek to try only because there's a chance you can't get coffee at the cafe. I think it's time for myself to trek for another place. I'm sure the eggs were sitting there, waiting on the other orders to be fulfilled. Not wanting to be a hassle, I plowed through, scooping the cold uncooked whites to the side and discovered a piece of not so small egg shell in it. I told the waitress there was an egg shell in the eggs, they were a bit undercooked and cold. Instead of receiving an apology or accommodations, she said she'll share the info with the owner. I was then given an excuse as to why there was an egg shell in the eggs "we use farm fresh eggs and they're very fragile". I use farm fresh eggs at home, they are fragile. It doesn't take more than a moment to remove the shell before cooking and serving it to a customer. She didn't remove the meal from the ticket or discount it and she never apologized. Like I said, just an excuse. All that being said, the place is beautiful, indoors and outside. My wife's pancake was delicious. I'm sure many things on the menu are delicious. They also seemed short staffed. And I won't wright a place off because of one meal and one server. Could be an off day for the chef/cook. The server isn't a always an indicator of the restaurant's values. Following my initial concern, the store owner promptly contacted me, apologized, and encouraged me to give the establishment another chance. I appreciated her response and returned on October 24. During that visit, I ordered a similar sandwich and specifically requested mustard instead of mayonnaise. I also repeated my order to the person taking it to ensure it was understood. Unfortunately, the sandwich had neither condiment, and they included mayonnaise packets instead. I was relieved that they didn't put mayonnaise directly on my sandwich, given my allergy and previous reaction. Once again, I had to return to the store to have my order corrected. The staff members were very apologetic, which I appreciated. However, it is concerning that on two separate occasions, I spent my money expecting to receive what I ordered, only to receive something different and then have to spend additional time returning to the store to correct the mistake. This is particularly disappointing after the owner personally reached out and encouraged me to give the establishment another opportunity. I understand that mistakes happen, and I appreciate the apologies from both the owner and staff. However, apologies should be accompanied by improvements in service. Customers should be able to expect accurate orders, especially when food allergies are involved.
