Celebrated my 50th with great friends tonight! Met the owner at the door who was absolutely fabulous! Had a drink at the bar, met some super friendly locals and the bartender was spot on! We are currently looking at a second home in the area and own 10 restaurants in Sarasota, Florida. We appreciate good service and tip accordingly. The 6 of us were seated at an outdoor table. Food was plated beautifully and was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, the waiter was HORRIBLE Total attitude from the moment he approached the table. He walked away numerous times in the middle of someone speaking, made us feel uncomfortable asking questions, upset our friend who was questioning items with butter (only due to his battle with prostrate cancer right now). His wife asked for salt after our meals had been served and this waiter walked to the other side of the table, picked up a small dish of salt that another couple had been using and placed it in front of her? In the middle of a pandemic??? We were dumbfounded. ‍ This was just a few of the actions this waiter did that made it an uncomfortable meal. Being in the industry, you'd hope he would get some retraining. In the end, this is a beautiful restaurant with amazing food! We will be back. I went for lunch after a bit of shopping in the area. Ordered what I thought was a caprese salad since it was described as heirloom tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil and EVOO. I even ordered it by the name "caprese salad". It came out looking like canned tomatoes, a few tiny pieces of mozzarella, and several halved grape tomatoes all swimming in olive oil in a bowl. I questioned the waitress about it, asking "is this the caprese? ". She replied yes and walked away. Maybe they ran out of heirloom tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, but whatever happened, this was just plain awful. After a few spoonfuls I pushed it aside. Truly a bizarre dish and a waste of $17.00. New to Sugar Mountain, but not new to fine restaurants. Read some reviews and talked to some other skiers and decided on LP on Main last night. This is a very fine restaurant. The ambiance was good, the bar and wines choices were extensive and the food was creative and delicious. It rarely happens with us, but every single person, grandparents, parents and grandchildren enjoyed their dinner and deserts. We will all come back. One suggestion for the owners, find staff that are willing to dress a little better for hosting the public at your nice restaurant. Also, there was a guy walking around, maybe a cook that was distracting because he seemed to have no purpose there. read more

While on a girls trip visiting in Banner elk North Carolina we found this wonderful restaurant to have dinner at. The restaurant was very accommodating for our large group size and was able to get us a reservation for dinner. The restaurant was quite busy I must say but over all the service was good. I do feel as though it took a while for our food and drinks to come out but nothing To complain about. Once we received our check we found an error and it appeared that the restaurant was unable to fix the check which left us with fixing our check on our own. The manager did come over and try to assist but I felt as though it was just easier for us to do our billing ourselves and tell them what amount to charge each card rather than there be more confusion. Other than the issue towards the end of our visit with our bill I would recommend this restaurant for people to try. Definitely their toffee pudding, It was amazing! read more

We always love the food and great service here. Only complaint is the limited menu and the inside gets super noisy, while outside can be too hot or cold depending on the season. Abysmal. My wife and I went here for dinner over Labor Day weekend. I had confirmed our reservation 2 weeks in advance, but our table was not ready when we arrived. We were escorted to the bar where the bar tender ignored us for 15 minutes. In fairness, she seemed busy but it was only an 8 seat bar. It took another 15 minutes for her to get the bottle of wine from behind her and open it for us. After waiting over 40 minutes, we were shown to our table with no apology or explanation for the delay. We ordered two appetizers and entrees. Fifteen minutes after ordering (we had now been there over an hour) we asked if they could please send over some bread, as we by now quite hungry. Finally, having received only our salad after almost two hours in the restaurant, the hostess apologized and said she would go ahead and put in our orders. This was too much. We could not stand to be ignored and treated like this any longer so we got up to leave. The hostess (I believe also the owner) hustled us out of the restaurant and said, "I'm sorry we did not meet your expectations" with a tone implying that it was our expectations that were the issue. It was appalling. My wife and I have never been treated with such disrespect at a restaurant. It ruined our holiday weekend. read more

Went with a group of 6. The hostess, Lori, acted very pretentious and stuck up considering the poor quality of food. The wine list was fabulous but the food was extremely subpar. A member of our group has a shellfish allergy and we asked our server to ask the kitchen to ensure that pans and utensils were not reused between dishes. I guess Chef Boyardee in the back doesn't realize that we were seated close to the kitchen and we heard his smart-aleck and potty-mouthed response to that question. Our server was very kind and professional. However, in addition to the cooks' response to our question, I heard the absolute despicable way the waiters were being spoken to in the kitchen. This was a great treat on our Thanksgiving holiday to Banner Elk. The menu was seasonally updated (drinks too) and curated to include some variety but a good theme of creole taste. The wine list included some good options at reasonable prices. The food was awesome. Short rib was leaner than most and dressed in tangy collards. The pasta was a great option, but could've used a little more of the advertised chicken and prosciutto. The salads were fantastic, the seasonal features a generous portion of shaved dry cheese (I think it was Parmesan but don't quote me). The atmosphere is open and chic. Outdoor seating looks fun if the weather permits. Staff attentive and pleasant. Make a reservation! read more

This is a more expensive restaurant than my husband and and I normally eat at, but he loves Creole and cajun and so we decided to enjoy a night out here. Our server was welcoming and gracious and extremely helpful in talking to us about the menu choices and giving recommendations when we asked. We really enjoyed her service at our table. We both had the specials, he had the Snapper in bearnaise sauce and I had the beef short ribs, followed by Bananas Foster for dessert. The meal was well-prepared and well-presented from beginning to end. I don't know what they would have had to do for me to give a five star rating, but I think the food would have needed to have just a little bit more pizzazz for the more expensive price tag on the entrees? read more

I'm not even sure where to begin here. If this owner/chef wasn't such a narcissist, he could probably have a nice little place here. When the waitress warns you prior, that there are NO CHANGES, SUBSTITUTIONS, LATE ORDERS, ETC.....BELIEVE HER. There are no exceptions. My 2 kids ordered the one dish they had on the kids menu that was actually dinner, which was pasta. You can get it with butter and parm, but when it comes out with 2 strands of parm, believe me when I say, they will NOT bring you more. Even if you offer to pay. They wouldn't give the parm to my son on the side because he doesn't like a lot on his pasta. It's either on it or you can't have it. Dumbest rules I've heard in a restaurant and the wait staff is terrified of the chef. It's obvious. Allergies? Stay away. This place is also super loud so don't expect much conversation to be had. Pretty place though. It's also very expensive. I'll gladly pay for a great meal, but this wasn't worth it. Drinks were good....but for $20 a drink, they better be. Dine at your own risk. Service and food were excellent. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've ever had, the entrees (short ribs for my partner, the bison meatloaf for me) were great. We just couldn't handle the noise level . This restaurant really should address the acoustics. This was the strangest experience I've ever had at a restaurant. We had a group of 8 there for a bachelorette party. First off, our waitress was not friendly or helpful at all. I ended up asking all my questions to another server, a small blonde girl, who was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant doesn't allow modifications or substitutions to their menu choices. They mean it when they say that. One of us ordered something that came with collards. She knew she couldn't substitute, so she asked if she could just not get the collards at all. She was told no. Them she asked if she could just get them on the side. She was told no again. When she got her plate, there were collards on top of everything else on her plate. I will say the food was very very good, but I would rather have bad food and good service. Would not recommend. read more

Someone recommended we try the collards, and I have to say they did not disappoint! The atmosphere was very nice and clean... and the hostess, who I believe was one of the owners, was so welcoming. This was our second time here. Started poorly when it was almost 15 minutes before we first saw our server. Cordial enough, but not especially friendly. There were 4 of us on a Saturday evening. One had the beet salad and scallops, both of which were excellent. The fried oysters I had were tasty, but too heavily breaded. The crab cake was most disappointing, with mushy contents rather than chunks of crabmeat. Our wives had the pork on mixed veggies. Both said the veggies were great, but neither could eat much of the pork as it was extremely peppery. I like spicy foods, but even I fouind the meat rediculously spicy (pepper). Why use a lot of pepper in a pork dish? Would be OK if the menu stated this, but no hint of pepper. LP on Main used to be "Louisiana Purchase", which for many years was by far our favorite restaurant in Banner Elk. It had the food and atmosphere one wants, and served primarily (but not exclusivelty) superb Cajun/Creole food. The new LP on Main has no Cajun/Creole, which is a real shame. i'm afraid we've made our last trip to this resaurant, which is too bad as we are local residents. read more

LP has become our go to place for a nice dinner out while vacationing in Banner Elk. All the food has been perfect. I had the bison meatloaf. It had a nice crusty outer layer that made it so good. Plan to stay awhile and enjoy conversation and a drink while they make your food to perfection. (We had a party of seven so it took about 45 minutes to get our food.) read more
