It's basically a walk in a park, not a very exciting "hike" if you find this on All Trails. Gets the exercise job done but I think there's more interesting places. There's a path higher up but kinda sucks if it's a little windy, it'll make it feel a ton more windy up there - bring the tissues! Some walkways are paved, some just have pebbles, others dirt. There are a few bins for garbage and dog poo. Cutting across the grassy areas there will be geese poo but not that big of a deal. read more

I was in the area with my dog and wanted to give her a chance to burn off some steam before our drive back to FoCo. This is a pretty typical dog park, with a fairly large high energy play area and a separate area (maybe more?) for lower energy/smaller dogs. The surface is almost all this sort of dusty gravel, with some patchy natural grass around the perimeter and a few tree and rock "features." It was close by and exactly what we needed at the time, so that gets an A-okay in my book. read more

This is the first dog park my husband and I visited with our husky puppy when we moved to Denver. It took a bit of maneuvering to find because you have to park and walk from the main community center. Directional signage is excellent, and it was a lovely stroll anyways. Much bigger space than what we're used to back home. Our dog was in heaven with so many others to play with. All the owners seemed friendly as well. This is where we discovered that Denver separates parks into high and low energy. Brilliant. There's the usual amenities for dogs and humans... Seating and water. We have parks closer to where we live, and if I'm driving as far as Lowry, I prefer going to Cherry Creek DOLA. But this was a fantastic first experience to welcome us into town! read more

Typical off leash Denver dog park where your best friend can run around and bark freely. The park is split into two fenced areas, one for active play and the other for co-dependent dogs who don't roam to far from their family and just want to take in, and be a part of, the doggie scene. The park is well maintained and never too crowded, probably because it's a pain in the ass to find it, and then to get to it from where you've parked. The most convenient parking is on the street, along Yosemite Way, and then you have to hoof it (ha!) through some partially paved trails in order to reach the actual dog park. Inevitably my dog likes to mark her way along the trails which lead to the park, which necessitates that you bring bags to pick up after your dog because bags are not usually available here, so be prepared. The pluses of this dog park include stupendous views of the Rockies and uncrowded exercise time. Happy tail wagging! read more

Seems to be the park with the friendliest dogs and owners. Not often you run into a reactive dog, and I have yet to experience an owner who won't correct the behavior when necessary. Only issue is people not picking up the poop. The park doesn't seem to provide bags so BRING A BAG!! Please! And if you don't have one, ask to get one from a fellow owner. I think most people will give up the five cents to aid in keeping the space clean. There are park staff that come in and clean every couple weeks, possibly more frequently than that. The park is also much more accessible than others in the city. There are paved sidewalks leading from the parking lot to the dog park, and much of Lowry Park offers paved walkways. read more

Pretty solid local option for a large dog park. It's set up far back from the road, with trails and a park nearby. There's a separate area for low activity dogs, and a large hill to hike up. The dog park is fairly nice, with a gravel and sand bottom. There's a grassy section with trees, and a couple benches. I do wish they could install a dog bag dispenser here, as it is bring your own. read more

Mr. P. and I recently adopted Millie Grace, my first-ever dog, so I guess it's time to do what city dog owners do and take her to the dog park to meet friends and get some exercise. We decided to start with Lowry since it's the closest dog park to our house. So, I have no basis for comparison but it seems that Lowry has just about everything a dog and its owner will need (except that, as Dale Z. pointed out, you'll need to pack your own bags). We had a hard time finding the park, partially because the Yelp address was incorrect (but that's been fixed now). Also, the park is quite set off from the parking area, which I thought was weird at first but then I decided I liked it because the park is in a somewhat secluded area and it's a more natural setting. The park is divided into two sections, one for "high energy play" and the other for "low energy play." The low energy side is smaller and flat but the high energy section is large and has varied terrain, boulders, and fire hydrants for the dogs to enjoy. Both sides also have benches and shade shelters for the humans. I really like the fact that there is a course sand and gravel mixture on the ground instead of just dirt. Sand is much easier to brush off your clothes if a dog jumps on you and won't leave a mark like dirt will, especially if it's wet. Being in the middle of Lowry, I expected the park to be much more crowded on a sunny Saturday morning. Thankfully, it wasn't and dogs and humans alike had plenty of room to romp around. Millie is looking forward to many more visits to Lowry. read more

This is such a great dog park! There is two areas one for high energy dogs and one for low energy dogs. The low energy dogs owners where so friendly and welcoming to my dog and me! All the dogs on this side were very friendly and not aggressive at all! If you are looking for a dog park for your little ones to get some energy out I highly recommend! read more

I grew up in Colorado Springs, and took my dog to this wonderful park with plenty of grass and a stream; however, I've noticed this seems to be a rare thing in Denver. Dog parks are made with sand, and I am greatly confused on why. This park is great due to being so close to where I live so I am able to take the dog A LOT; however, I greatly dislike the sand and unlike the other parks, there is no hose to rinse off my dog and/or add to the water bowl. I will state there is a great group of dog owners, which is awesome and probably the reason I should give this park 4 stars. read more

This is a HUGE dog park that is perfect for my two pups. On weekend mornings it is usually pretty crowded, but during the week it can be pretty empty. For some, this might be a down side, but for us it's perfect. My dogs like a little play and a little wandering freely. So either way they're happy. We have an older dog but have no worry bringing him into the "high energy" side of the park because it's so big he just meanders to the back of the park and explores the trees, rocks and fence line. There are bowls of water that people are usually good about refilling as well as a seating area with shade for the humans if they so choose. Being recently expanded it will be my go to pick for dog parks in the area. read more

Lowry dog park is amazing. There are Fire hydrants, little hills, rocks and trees for them to run around. They have separated area for high play and low play dogs. Our dogs had a Great time. The walking path is an added plus right there too. read more

Park is great, patrons suck. If you're stay at home mom with no kids who likes to b*tch about everything, this is the dog park for you! We always use the "high energy play area". Sounds great in theory, but when other dog owners are consistently mad that dogs are... well, being dogs--it loses it's fun. That is why they make a "low energy play area" go there. Your dog is able to run around freely, but if your dog gets too close to another-- get ready to hear it from across the park. It's rare that I am able to go without an over concerned woman huffing around about one thing or another. I have however met several people and fur friends that were awesome and my doggo loved playing with them! The park is mostly sandy gravel, there were some ice patches so make sure your furry babe takes it slow in some spots! No water but community bowls to fill. I heard this place was kinda muddy, but after 6" of snow I thought it would be a good day to try it out. My dog would give it a thumbs up, but she doesn't have opposable thumbs. It's a big park. Google Maps will direct you and your car to nowhere in particular, but it's easy it find: just get to Yosemite and 5th and head west on 5th, parking on the south side of 5th. You'll see the parks south of you. Go when it's snowy or dry and your dog will love running around off-leash. read more

Why hello new favorite dog park! I'm so glad we finally found this place because as other Yelpers have mentioned - the address is definitely not right. To avoid driving around like a frustrated maniac - take Sports Blvd and drive all the way to the end (almost to Yosemite) until you see a lot of happy pooches coming and going from the park. A couple of reasons for really liking this park: 1. It's clean! We have responsible pet owners frequenting this joint. I can't recall ever seeing a pile that wasn't immediately tended to. Good job folks! 2. The ground is like a soft gravel-ish sand instead of dirt. Sounds like a weird thing to like, but it seems to not get our pup as dirty as when he runs in the dirt - especially when it's wet. Bonus. 3. This is a huge park! Plenty of room for Fido & Friends to run around. They even have high and low energy areas so I think that helps minimize arguments amongst the dogs...especially when you have a hellion like mine that just can't take a hint. 4. The people (and dogs) here are really nice! I've found that most everyone really kind of plays with everyone else's dogs and doesn't mind throwing the tennis ball for 2 (or 6) dogs at a time. Cool. It appears that Yelp fixed the address issue. The previous one left you near Mississippi and Dayton, miles from the dog park. This dog park is not that easy to find, if you are not familiar with the Lowry area. The parking lot is located behind the ice arena, but the entrance to that parking is from the north, and can be a little confusing. Once you are here, you can barely see the dog park off to the east. As others mentioned, it is a bit of a hike from parking to park. I think the estimate of 1/4 mile is accurate. This is not my favorite set up for dog parks, as you have to keep your excited canines on-leash for a fair walk until you get into the park. On this day, there were no bags to be had near the parking lot. So if your dog did his business on the 1/4 hike, and you had not brought one, you were hurting. The trash cans were also few and far between. Remember where you parked, as there is no bathroom or porta-potty near where you parked or at the dog park. You will need to travel to the far south end of the parking lot, near the sports fields, if you need these facilities. The dog park itself is not that shabby. It reminds me of the one at Stapleton, but with a more coarse fine aggregate surface (less like sand and more like very fine gravel). The park is of a decent size. There is a separate area for small/timid/low energy dogs. This separate area is similarly of a goodly size, and not just a tiny afterthought. There does not appear to be any water at the park, but some people had schlepped in some empty milk jugs of water and filled a couple bowls. So, it really is a decent park, but it is lacking in some amenities, and has some significant inconveniences. read more

Like everyone says, the dog park is quite a walk from the parking until you actually get to the park. Recently, I realized this is brilliant. What that means is usually your dog poo's before they get to the park, so for all of the a$$holes that don't pick up after their dog, at least it doesn't fester in the park and you just have to avoid it walking up! Ok, so I've been trying out different dog parks in the area. So far, this one is in the lead! Since winter has decided to present itself, I very much appreciate the sand/gravel mixture that this park is composed of. Most places are giant mud pits right now. This one leaves Grace much less dirty than those giant mud pits. My dog also likes the differences in terrain levels, little hills and stuff. It is big, and completely fenced, they also have the 'low energy dog' area. The walk is a little annoying, took me a few tries until I felt I really 'knew' how to get there. The people there are always super nice, as are their canine companions. Def becoming a regular at this one! read more

I spent a good 30 minutes going all over the place. Once you're there you'll see the Ice Rink and Tall Building. The dog park is behind that towards the ridge with the trail - you'll see people walking up there. I recommend taking Lowry Blvd over to Yosemite Way and turning into Sports Blvd and parking there. It's about a quarter mile walk back to the dog park. Again - great dog park. read more

I went to this dog park a couple of months ago. I had a bit of trouble finding the place but once I did I was glad I did! The dog park itself is secluded which almost makes you feel like you are away from the city :) I LOVED the fact that they have gravels not dirt like other dog parks around town. There was no dirty car, dirty dog situation afterwards! The people were also friendly with good handle on their dogs. Too bad the weather was too hot my little pup decided to just "chill" under the bench in the shade. But definitely my favorite dog park of all. Now that the weather's cooler I'll definitely be returning with the pooch. read more

Do NOT use the address that yelp gives you!! The actual park is off of Sports Blvd by CommonGround Golf Course. The address they give you takes you to a grocery store like five minutes away from the park. But once you find it, this is a great park!! It's about 30-40 minutes out of our way but it's totally worth it on those snowy/rainy days when all the other dog parks are just mud. The park is made out of a soft sandy gravel that is really easy to get off of your dog even when it's wet. It's a must for those of us with white dogs! :) There are a couple of big fake rocks in the parks for the dogs to play on or for owners to sit on. The park is divided into High energy and Low energy play areas which is such a great idea! It looks like there are water fountains for dogs and humans that are turned on in the summer but in winter days I would bring your own water if you are planning on being there for awhile. The dogs have always been really well behaved and friendly and the other owners are always nice! read more

This is a wonderful dog park with adjacent wildlife habitat and plenty of trails. There is also Steep hill to climb to get a great view of the park and surrounding area. Sadly, there are no restrooms or water fountain that I am aware of. There is also limited shade And only two shade structures in the dog park. read more

My favorite local dog park!! My pups, Zeus & Cairo can't get enough of this place. It can be a little difficult to get to, it will say you have arrived on your gps when you're just around the corner. You will be passing a few roundabouts to get here. It's never too busy which is what I love. They have sidewalks that lead to the park itself and there they provide baggies for your pup. I do wish they had baggies closer to the actual park entrance rather than by the front of the entrance but what can we do. There's plenty of room for the dogs to run around and there's a separated area for the lower energy dogs, although I haven't seen it used yet. I definitely recommend this park it's a great place to tire out the energized doggies! read more

One of my favorite dog parks in the city! Overall there are friendly, responsible owners who are nice to talk to and follow the basic rules of dog parks. I.e. they clean up their dogs poop and don't let their dogs become too aggressive. There are of course some of the typical dog park people who are a bit too obsessed with their pups and can be a bit strange. There are not a lot of mean dogs that come to the park, actually I would say that this has the nicest dogs of all the parks. There are still big dogs, but in general the average weight is 30-40 pounds I would guess(a lot of lap dogs). I would definitely recommend, and if you come there's a good chance you'll bump into me! read more

Lowry is a nice dog park and it just opened this past spring. They are still working on the landscaping around there and I think it will look fantastic when it gets done. Parking is very far away from the actual dog park, a quarter of a mile. Which in my opinion is a bit odd. The park itself is nice, in that in has nice benches, shading, rocks, and two areas for low and high energy dogs. I really don't have any experiences with other dog owners, but it seems like everyone is nice and responsible. Overall, the little walk to get to the park is a turn off. read more

This would be an awesome dog park, if people could find it! Thanks to conflicting directions and a confusing address, it took well over a half hour of walking to finally find this place. It was probably 2:30 pm, and very hot and sunny. The park itself is covered in gravel with a few small trees, and awnings for a tiny bit of shade. Hopefully over time the trees will grow. There is a dispenser for bags and a trash can, located outside the gate. It would be helpful if there were some of that inside as well. I will say that the park is very clean, and looks like they provide water bowls. Make sure you bring your own water! I'm moving to the area, so you will definitely see my border collie and me here on the reg., come say hi! read more

I enjoy this dog park. It's smaller than Berkeley or nearby Stapleton, but sufficient for my very active lab. I've been here three times, and as a general rule the park is less crazed than Stapleton, which cuts down on the number of oblivious owners not watching their dog. There is also an area for lower energy dogs. There are some drawbacks to this park. First, it is a hike to get to it. No matter where you park, you are going to have some walking to do. This isn't bad for those of us with high energy dogs who should have some focused exercise before interacting, but it could prove challenging for small or low energy pups. The other drawback is garbage cans. I only noticed two garbage cans next two the park, and only one that did not necessitate leaving the off leash enclosure. As someone who likes to clean up, it would be nice to have one on all four corners. read more
