The mushroom sculptures with benches in Packy Roman!
    Alden C.

This is a cute, mid sized park. I wouldn't have even known about it if Steve and I didn't have friends that lived in the neighborhood and they told us about it. The city pretty much gives this park the nickname "The Mushroom Park" due to the sculptures that you sit under are all over the park and are shaped like mushrooms. My friends who are involved in the city council say that even the city officials call this park The Mushroom Park while it's proper name is Packy Romans Park. I went here twice while on my vacation. When the weather is nice lots of people in the neighborhood bring their kids and dogs here to play! We came across an adorable Chiweenie and a Bulldog playing with a basket ball with it's owner! Seeing things like this on the weekends make for a rich time to just sit and people or dog watch! Lol! There are good courts for tennis and basketball as well as nice playground equipment and grills for picnics. Definitely a great park to spend a part of your weekend in or for strolls anytime!

    Awesome Big Kid Playground!

So there's an awesome petting zoo and train that you can pay to enjoy but the rest of the park is just as incredible. There's a shallow creek that runs the length of the park. It's honestly one of the best places for kids to just free play safely in the summer. Lots of great trees for parents to chill under while the kids enjoy the water. It's a perfect picnic spot for sure. Go make a day of it! There's also a traditional playground near the petting zoo and train station. My kids said the water is cold but on a hot day, it's the perfect activity. There are restrooms as well. There's some covered seating with picnic tables but it's just easier to bring a nice blanket and find a tree to camp under (or bring some outdoor chairs). We did the petting zoo recently too. It's $3 per person for the petting zoo for anyone over the age of 2. Same price for the train. You can do one and not the other. Tickets can be purchased on site or online. They give you one token per ticket for each activity. So you can only go through the petting zoo once and take the train once on a paid ticket. The petting zoo has cows, pigs, a duck, goats, alpacas, chickens, etc. It's fairly small, but a good way to expose city kids to sweet tempered farm animals. My kids loved the train! It does a nice big loop around the park. And the best part is the tunnel you go through at the end. The train is also beautiful - pretty green, shiny train. I would say the only down side is parking. I've ended up parking at the Pirates Cove area both times I've gone. There's simply not enough spots. Go early in the morning if you want to enjoy otherwise you might be completely out of luck.
