The WORST experience ever. If you're thinking about buying cabinets or countertops from Lowe's -- DON'T. This has been the biggest nightmare, and I wish I had never started this project. For reference, this was at the 2790 Arthur Kill Rd, Staten Island, NY 10309 location. I purchased KraftMaid cabinets and a Dekton countertop, and the sales lady told me delivery would take 4-5 weeks and that any damaged pieces would be replaced in about 2 weeks. All lies. We started this project at the end of August, and we STILL have no kitchen. The KraftMaid cabinets are absolute trash. Doors came scratched, multiple cabinets arrived damaged, and I still had to wait five weeks for a replacement sink base -- even after they came out to measure and STILL got the measurements wrong. The molding was the wrong size, the replacement molding arrived broken, and now I'm stuck trying to get replacements yet again. Every step has been a disaster. Then there's the Dekton countertop and backsplash nightmare. The sales rep told me I'd receive a call within 48 hours and installation would take two weeks. Another lie. After waiting three days with no call, I had to contact the manufacturer myself -- only to find out I needed to sign a contract before anything could even be submitted to the third party, which the rep NEVER mentioned. I signed it, waited again, and still got nothing. I had to call the third party myself before anything moved forward. Only then did they finally review the contract and schedule measurements two weeks out. When the guy finally came to measure, he told me installation takes another 2-3 weeks, and that they can only measure the backsplash after the countertops are installed. Meaning I'm looking at 6-7 weeks for the backsplash alone -- and that's only if nothing else goes wrong, which at this point seems impossible. To make things worse, when I emailed the rep and specifically asked to speak with a supervisor, she refused. She told me "there's nothing a supervisor can do because that's the information they're getting from the vendors." Completely unacceptable. I asked multiple times, and she flat-out refused to connect me with one. People shouldn't be without a kitchen for months. The process was supposed to take 2 to 2.5 months MAX -- not 6 months and counting. Because of all this miscommunication and incompetence, we've been forced to buy food out constantly. We have children, and it's nearly impossible to feed them healthy meals without a functioning kitchen. Our entire household has been thrown into chaos because Lowe's couldn't deliver what they promised. And honestly, the staff should be better equipped, better trained, and far more transparent before they're put in charge of major home renovation projects. The level of misinformation and lack of accountability is shocking. Truthfully, I should've just kept my old kitchen. What I had before was better than what I'm dealing with now. Save yourself the headache, money, and stress -- go ANYWHERE else.

Me still waiting to get propane tank

I'll pay the extra 3 dollars next time to not have to wait 30 minutes (after I pay) for an associate to exchange my propane tank!

WARNING! Steer clear of LOWES Home Improvement for your Counter Top. I would not have purchased my granite kitchen countertop from LOWES if I knew what a disaster it would turn out to be. LOWES contracted the job to a third party fabricator - Stone Systems - who created and installed my countertop and did an extremely shoddy job of it! I don't know why a reputable store such as LOWES is doing business with this place but they really need to stop. I purchased a granite countertop on January 23rd from LOWES. After many needless delays, it was finally installed nearly 3 months later. But the issue isn't the delay. In fact, there are SEVERAL issues! First, the job was a total shoddy one from the start - see photos: ---- The stone was carelessly cut with no regard for the pattern. Therefore, the pieces DO NOT BLEND AT THE SEAMS! ---- My sink had a soap dispenser. I asked that the granite be cut to ensure that the dispenser hole would be covered. It was not. So now there is a huge hole on my sink where the dispenser was! ---- They SWITCHED the stone slabs that I had picked out from their storage place and REPLACED it with an INFERIOR one that I had rejected due to it having RED SPATTTERS throughout. So basically, my countertop looks like someone SPLATTERED RED SAUCE all over it. --The Project Manager at Stone Systems is unwilling to rectify the situation to my satisfaction. I have stressed my issues with him and included photos as evidence of my claims. He was to speak to his "boss" and get back to me. It's been so much time since we last spoke on this issue and I'm still waiting to hear back.

Horrible service! Spoke to 11 people over a week and my issue is still not fixed. Buy your appliances somewhere else!

If I could put negative stars, I would. Nothing but aggravation dealing with this store. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere.

We selected General Lumber after comparing several companies, trusting Robert--our main point of contact--who repeatedly assured us, "We're local and not going anywhere." That promise quickly unraveled. We hired them to order Marvin windows and manage installation for 17 windows across two units in our building. They were not the cheapest, but we chose them based on their claim of experience and quality. During installation, Robert and his contractor decided to alter the placement of the windows without understanding the original design intent or performing any verification. They admitted they "didn't understand" why our previous windows were placed where they were--but moved forward anyway. We trusted them as the supposed experts. That was a costly mistake. Shortly after installation, water began leaking into both units and the shared lobby during rainstorms. These areas had never experienced water intrusion in the five years prior to the install. We raised the issue immediately in September 2021. Robert visited once, performed a cursory visual inspection, and began a months-long pattern of excuse-making and blame-shifting. He variously blamed a "once-in-a-lifetime storm," the cornice, and our roof--none of which stood up to basic scrutiny or third-party inspections. Instead of acknowledging the problem or investigating further, Robert and General Lumber resorted to misinformation and deflection. At one point, they claimed water wasn't entering "through or around" their installation--ignoring the fact that they had changed the physical placement of the windows, which compromised drainage and blocked weep holes. Our own hose testing demonstrated conclusively that water was entering above the windows--exactly where they sealed over a critical drainage gap. General Lumber refused to take accountability, perform any real diagnostics, or even revisit the job site for follow-up testing. When we withheld the final payment due to unresolved issues, they threatened us with legal action and filed a lien against our property. We went to arbitration. My husband, with no legal training, meticulously presented our evidence. Robert and his legal team were unprepared. Their entire defense relied on vague references to extreme weather and unverified claims--while we provided photographic evidence, water test results, contractor correspondence, and expert confirmations. The arbitrator ruled in our favor. The outcome? We still have 12 faulty windows that will need to be completely redone at a cost of $12,000 or more--on top of the $28,000 we already paid General Lumber. Robert and his team never stood by their work, never offered a solution, and used legal threats to try and silence us. This has been a nightmare of wasted time, money, and stress. If you're considering General Lumber--especially if you're trusting Robert to stand by his word--proceed with caution. They talk a good game about being "local" and reputable. But when things go wrong, they disappear, deflect, and leave you to pick up the pieces.
