Exemplary service at Lowe's Homewood, AL last week. I was sent to get supplies for a couple of projects I'm working on in my shop. I received assistance regarding plumbing parts from a couple of workers that were knowledgeable and patient. The next day I returned to get nuts and bolts for a different project. I got the assistance of an associate named Lakeria. She calmly and tediously searched through the aisle of nuts and bolts to try and find a match to the one I brought. She was on a mission and not willing to give up the search. I got the small town hardware shop experience along with the huge supply of inventory a chain store provides. Jackpot! read more

I bought a washer and dryer this weekend [holding for applause]... I chose this location because I trusted they would have some of the more efficient and knowledgeable appliance sales people. I went in, looked around, picked out one of the cheapest top-loader and dryer combos, and then stood there looking like I needed help for a few minutes. Eventually, a very nice woman whose name escapes me stumbled into my air of confusion, and offered guidance. I was out of there in 10 minutes flat with a delivery and install scheduled for the next day. The next morning, Sunday at a prompt 9am, two men arrived to deliver and install my new washing apparatuses. We blocked the entirety of my street with their truck for about an hour (apologies), but they got both machines up the stairs and into my kitchen/laundry room with ease. They immediately started both machines to ensure there were no leaks or issues. The part that took so long was me making them flip the way the door opened on the dryer, hahaha. My only gripe is that the dryer vent they installed seems way too long and forces the dryer to stick far out from the wall. Are dryer vents supposed to bend? I feel like that's asking for lint to get caught up in the bend. Alas, am I, just a girl, going to be forced to DIY? Fine, hand me my blade, I'll finish this. read more

A friend and I came here on a Saturday morning, to grab a few items. The staff assisted us with locating what we were looking for. The store itself is organized nicely and seemed massive, The selections were plentiful and prices were decent. We utilized self checkout. The bathrooms were terrible to me! Definitely needed some attention. It also had a foul smell. This was first time coming to this location; I didn't even know that it existed. read more

I was wanting a flower or plant to hang in my place and all the smaller places were closed with it being 6 pm on a Saturday. I loved how large the selection was in the garden area of Lowe's! They had some really beautiful flowers. We went inside to get a hook to hang the flower with and found it to be near the other end of the store. Seems something so common would be in a spot closer to the entrance of the store. But, we found it and encountered a friendly elderly employee who was helpful. I don't know how long it'll last, but they have two ferns for $20! They are normally $16.98 EACH. read more

I purchased a washing machine from the Lowes in Homewood Alabama one week ago. (1-26-26). The machine malfunctioned last night locking our clothes inside, full of water. They refuse to do anything but refer me to the manufacturer, Maytag. I was on hold for 43 minutes with Maytag and they set me a service appointment for seven days from today. I explained our clothes would ruin because we cant get them out of the machine, did not care. I reached out to Lowes and they said the Machine was no longer there problem. Lowes does not stand behind their products and do not care about their customers. I would give the zero stars if i could. read more

Lowe's often has vegetable plants that are hard to find. Prices are usually good too. It's time to start my garden so I payed them a visit since I was out and about. The stores are not close to me but are worth the visit to get what you need. If you need help they are often able to assist where you need it. Purchased $399.00 grill and a new propane tank. Checked out at 12:09pm (per receipt), was told manager has to unlock the cage to get the tank - "she'll be right out." Checked on status at 12:15pm, no one knew where the manager was. At 12:29pm manager came out unlocked the cage, without apology, pointed to the tank for me to pick up. The subordinate staff were all more gifted with social and customer service skills. Weekend leadership clearly lacking and weak. read more

Lowe's has basically shifted to a self serve model. Limited staffing from front to back. I recently made a $600 lumber purchase and no staff was available to help pull the stock, move it to checkout or take my money. It's a demoralizing, crappy shopping experience. read more

This store has caused me so much distress from an internal problem where they would not give me my flooring even though it was paid in full. After a month of trying to resolve this I got a benign email. I finally did get a phone call but no resolution. Patrick the store manager made no attempt to help even though the issue was something they had done in store. Corporate was also no help. Don't do any projects with Lowe's. read more

As far as Lowe's locations go, this one is really about my least favorite that I've ever been in. First off, store itself is not as organized as other locations, and for that matter isn't laid out like other locations. So there is some hunting when it comes to finding what you are after. Second, I came here on my lunch hour because they indicated they had stock of something I was looking for. Online indicated that they had plenty of stock. Well, I went to the area and they didn't have any (Looking for a replacement shower head). Well, whatever, I'm here already, I'll just find a different one. Mission accomplished and it was on sale .... not so quick. Get to check out and the item doesn't ring up at the sale price. I've shopped at this location several times over the last 10 yrs & never had a bad experience. Most recently my dishwasher went out so I had purchase a new one. I found the best price for the best size and decibels I was looking for here. A few years ago my fridge went out and again, Lowe's had the best price for what I was looking for. As far as service ... Alrighty ladies and gentleman... after last nights fiasco my washer was supposed to be delivered today. I waited until about noon to call and check the status and I was put on hold back and forth for about an hour only to be told that MY DELIVERY WAS NOT ON THE TRUCK!! I was told I had to schedule another delivery day (this will be the third time) I asked to speak to the delivery manager and I kept getting the runaround saying he was busy. I am very sad to say this is my first review of an organization for 2021. We all lived through 2020 which to say the least was stressful. All of us that take being a part of Yelp seriously have an obligation to be fair knowing the hardships our country has gone through. I agree, however it is still our obligation to honestly review. My wife and I are simply staying home until we can be vaccinated. This allows for Home Improvement activates. That was my goal on Saturday, January 17, 2021. We have a new home and I wanted to put a SmartLock on my exterior door. I first looked on Amazon which has become all of our habit. The lock I wanted was a new product. I then looked for a local store in Birmingham, Alabama that might have the lock. Lowes in Homewood came up. I ordered the item online, paid for it upfront. I wanted two hours and went to buy an item for my BBQ first. I wanted to give Lowes enough time to get this item ready for me. I have done this at Best Buy many times. The shortest time it took was one hour the longest was two hours. I gave Lowes four hours. Before going, I check the status online and it said it was ready. Off to Homewood I go. I call the curbside pick up number. No answer. I called again, no answer. So I reluctantly walked in the story. The Customer pick up area is just as you walk in by customer service and returns. A line of 7 people, social distanced were all waiting on one lonely agent. It took 25 minutes to get my turn. I was told the product was not in his pick up area yet. The two clients ahead of me also had a pick up not ready so I had to be patient. I was patient for over 90 more minutes. I finally saw a person other then the agent and asked for a status. This is where I get really frustrated. The item was expensive, not on the store shelves. It was locked up 5 feet behind the agent all this time. All he had to do was unlock the cage and get my item. The price was exactly the same at the store as it would have been from Amazon.com. Now if it was you, know this and also knowing I was not the only one waiting over an hour for my order. Would you go back to the local Lowes Store or buy online for two day free delivery? You make that decision. My decision is clear. Have a GREAT 2021 everyone. read more

Hubby wanted to stop here after a long day because he had preordered and paid online so he just needed to run in. I stayed in the car in the premarked parking spot for online pickup. This spot is only for 10 to 15 minute parking. Well, one hour later... hubby finally returns. They said they didn't have the grout he ordered even though it said online they had it. Furthermore, they only had one of the items ready for pickup. They had to go get the others. Ridiculous. Mind you, hubby had ordered in the am and we didn't show up till 4 so they had plenty of time to get everything together. If you need an appliance, DO NOT PURCHASE from LOWE'S!!! We purchased a washer and dryer from the Lowe's in Homewood, Alabama a few weeks back. They installed it and the dryer started making a very loud noise. I called them within the required 48 hours that it takes for them to replace it. Spoke to a gentleman in the appliance dept (I believe the man who sold it to us) He said no problem and they would order another one and call to deliver and swap it out when it came in. I waited..... no dryer. Finally, called them today (about 10 days or so later). First, it took FOREVER to get someone to talk to on the phone. Spoke to an associate and then to a manager. Apparently, the gentleman who had helped me is "on leave" and had not made a note of our conversation so they will not honor it. I was then told I would have to call the manufacturer and they will have to come out, if they deem we need a new one, we have to return the dryer ourselves and get a refund and then repurchase. we bought a brand new stove in October of 2022, May 29th the whole board went out on it. Finally today June 16th we finally got it fixed. they claimed the only repair man was in Athens. and he only comes to the shoals area one day a week. we asked for a loaner or another stove, but nothing. They were very rude when I went back to talk to them about it. so beware before you buy any appliances from Lowe's. No more for me.... I hate to even give this a 1 star. Worst customer service ever. They will not answer the phone or they will answer after 8 minutes and then transfer you and hangs up. I ordered a washer and dryer. It was to be delivered on a day I took off work and then it was moved to another date without talking to me. The lazy, disgruntled, whining employees (not all of them/but frequently encountered) leave me with no choice than to drive to the Home Depot at the Galleria. I live and work in Homewood, but I refuse to enter this store ever again. To the foul unhappy lady perched on a scooter like you are laying in a recliner behind the customer services counter...get a job elsewhere. This is not your skill. I almost always find better deals here at Lowe's than I do at The Home Depot. What I also like about Lowe's is the customer service. They're here to help if I want it, and also not here when I just want to browse on my own. On my last visit, an associate gave me great advice about some plumbing parts she tried herself. How I knew it was sound advice? She told me to buy the cheaper of the two parts I was debating between cause the fancier version was a newer manufactured material that still hasn't worked out all the kinks yet. read more

I have mixed reviews on this one.... with our basement project I have had to go to this location many times.... I have bought both in store and on line for the online pick up. The prices are varied as you can get somethings cheaper elsewhere and some of their prices are cheaper. Now for some of the issues I had with in store pickups. It is not very organized, nor the staff that quick to get you in and out. One of the hour waits I had was they could not find the parts I ordered. I had actually placed 2 orders the same day as I forgot something on the first... well I got the email that my order was ready for pick up.... the 2nd order that is... and that is exactly what I found when I got to the store. The item I had bough states there were 9 in stock... they could not find any of them... well luckily for me I found a larger container for 2 bucks cheaper in that isle... The on staff manager did take care of me for the hour long wait and all my frustrations. I will continue to shop here, but not sure I will ever trust the inventory on line..... read more

Very poor customer service and management overall! My 80+ parent live in Hoover AL and ordered a washer machine in-store right before the Black Friday. The original delivery date got pushed back several times. Every time, the store promised that my parent would be the next inline to get the washer delivered and even gave the delivery dates but every time it was a no-show. I can understand it is the busiest time of a year for shipment loads but what's not acceptable is the fake promises and fake sales! Their 'in-store order tracking' website does not work. Their online chat is useless, and the phone service takes forever to find a real person... once find someone after 30+ minutes of waiting, they either promise a fake delivery date or transferring me to a manager who doesn't know the answer. read more

It's really hard to tell one of the big box stores from the next. They layout is generally the same, the prices rarely vary, and you always know what to expect. So why even review this Lowe's? The service. Generally speaking, the service here has been leaps and bounds above the other large home improvement stores in the area. On a recent trip, I needed some basic cuts made to wood I was purchasing. This took a matter of minutes and I was on my way. I've had a different experience at other, similar stores. Abysmal in store customer service. Refusal to pull online orders placed for in-store pick-up. No knowledge of stock. Hurry here if you have time to waste and need some irritation in your life. The store is always clean and well-organized. It can often be hard to find someone to help you if you out on the floor, but it's a huge store, so it's to be expected. This place is usually a zoo on the weekends (like any other store), so I try to go during the week when I can. They have a great garden center here as well. I always check out the discount plant shelves. You can get some great plants (that just need a little TLC) for $1 or less. As weird as this sounds, the highlight of my shopping trip is always checking out. They seem to have a number of older cashiers (the kind that might remind you of your grandparents) and they are always SO friendly. They take the time to ask how your day is going, crack some jokes and send you on your way. It's really refreshing and something that you definitely do not get at other stores. read more

This store which is managed by Elizabeth Johnson is an embarrassment to the Lowe's brand . CEO Marvin Ellison should personally look into the rude customer service and general incompetence. I believe this store has engaged in unfair, deceptive and misleading sales practices to boost revenue. On Black Friday I purchased a refrigerator, dishwasher and oven. I was assured the appliances would be installed before Christmas. After multiple visits to the store, and hours of calls to installation services ( installation services has been helpful)- the appliances have not been delivered to the store and installation will not happen as promised. Twice I have received an automated confirmation that the appliances were in- yet this poorly run store can't find them. I am now being told it will be the first of the year before I will get what was purchased Christmas ruined , service is poor, can't get straight answers and they have my money. When it comes to big box stores, Lowe's is probably my favorite. I usually like to support local businesses. But when it comes to knowing you will get exactly what you need, a trip to Lowe's is in order... and I love it. If most people won the lottery, they might go to some high end clothes stores or a car dealership. If I had a large sum of money, I think Lowe's would be my first stop. Unfortunately for me, I don't have a Lowe's near by. So when I was doing a project at my in-laws house, we needed wood and a few other things. So off we go. I have frequented this Lowe's numerous times over the years. I lived in two different places on this side of town. But that was well before my Yelping days. I find the staff is typically more knowledgable here than at other competitors. Still not quite as much as a local hardware store. But I have already been on that rant. Things stay relatively organized here. The employees are usually helpful and friendly. For this latest trip, we got exactly what we needed and were in and out in no time. Lowe's wins again. read more
