I recently had to replace my washing machine . I went to all of the major appliance merchants in Anchorage . It was t an easy job . Sad to say most of the locations I visited were disappointing . I either had to wait long time even to be asked if I wanted help . It was difficult to find someone who had a good knowledge of the product . I was also treated rudely at one store ( I will leave that for another review . ) Then I went to Home Depot on Tudor and met Glen in their large appliance department . He was a Prince Charming ! He was helpful , knowledgeable, and truly believed in making the customers experience shopping at his store a good experience . I left with a brand new washer and a smile on my face . We were in need of a new washing machine and if I'm buying a new washing machine I'm one of those that have to have the dryer match :) I did some major research before going to Lowe's on what we thought we wanted. After arriving at the Appliance section we looked at the appliances and then looked for an associate and couldn't find one in the area. It seems this is something we encounter at Lowe's most of the time versus the orange store across the way! I finally find an employee and ask him to call for assistance for us. Within minutes we were greeted by the manager Gina who was very helpful in helping us decide on what model we wanted. Keep in mind washers and dryers at least the ones I want aren't cheap!! With Gina's helpful attitude we made our selection and paid for our items. One downfall is that a gas dryer isn't in stock so there is another 3-4 weeks but it could be sooner. Lowe's only had a 48 hour return policy which I really don't think that's long enough but we did end up purchasing the set. I need something sturdy, that's 4.75 inches tall, to level a piece of furniture that broke. I thought this would be the place. A woman guided me to the bed posts area, but the blocks of wood there weren't quite tall enough. She said they would saw off some lumber for me for free, and that would be cheaper. I went to the lumber area and found a 4"x4"x8' piece of lumber that would do that job. I just needed them to cut me a 4.75" segment and I'd be done. I couldn't find anyone to help me cut it. I finally did and he said "we can't cut 4x4 wood, sorry." And...that was that. I purchased a refrigerator from Lowes at Tudor Road in Anchorage, AK. We wanted something immediately and spent over an hour researching with the sales agent different brands that were in stock. We choose one and he said it would be delivered today 5/5/2025 before 12:30 pm. I took off work and at 1:00 pm I called because no one showed up. Only to be told that what I purchased and was showing as in stock is out of stock until July 2025. No one called or texted me. I wasted an entire day of my life that I cannot ever get back. I am a plant lady, so when I walked into the garden center I was very disappointed when i saw multiple houseplants outside. The temperatures were too low for houseplants to be outside (it's Alaska!). Even though they were clearence plants it was obvious that is was Lowes fault. Lowes should also stop painting plants and adding plastic decals that were hot glued on. UUGGGHHH! I spent more than $30k on kitchen remodel items. Came down to the last item, blower motors for the range hood. Ordered the part online in March, was told it would be delivered on 4-22. On 4-16 I was told the order is in early, and wanted to know if I wanted to change delivery date. I asked could I pick it up, was told yes. I went the next day, they couldn't find the item. In fact, they were told they didn't know anything about the item. I waited a week, the 4-22 delivery date came and went... heard nothing! I called 4-23, talked to a man named Tony who said he'd call back by 10am. He didn't. I called the store three (3) times. Was hung up on all three times. Simply unacceptable way to be treated. I tried to return a toilet that wouldn't fit. There was no way to know this as all of the clearance information isn't printed on any of the toilets at lowes. I found out that the toilet wouldn't fit after i put the wax doughnut on, and tried to seat the toilet. My valve in the back was being hit by the toilet. I purchased a new one and tried to return the old. I was told since I had " installed it" i could not return it. " installed" because I left a little clean wax on the bottom...my bad. Ultimately I returned the toilet. Being polite and reasonable, trying to explain had no effect on the robot empolyees. I had to raise my voice. I went to Home Depot right after. I managed an audience with the manager. He took a deep breath and laughed so hard he cried. He said they returned toilets all the time. He gave me a business card, said to call at any time, and welcomed me to Home depot, and promised I wouldn't have any issues like that. Literally some of the most abominable customer service on the planet. We scheduled a giant lumber delivery for this morning which never showed. We called five times and ended up on eterna-hold, then disconnected. When we finally got someone on the line, they literally said they had other customers to help. We got in the truck and came down in person, and the abysmal customer service continued. I finally had to track someone down and THANK THE HEAVENS for Jacob, who doesn't work at the pro desk but was just kind and helpful. Someone should make him the assistant store manager--who, by the way, heard the multiple calls over the intercom and refused to come to the customer service desk. Wow. Please believe I will be sending this information to every person I can locate. I don't usually go to the big orange competitors across the street but we will take our contracting business, where we spend thousands a week, right on over there. My washer and dryer are over 20 years old. And I saw that they have the state of the art energy efficient appliances and the salespeople said, "Good news, these last ones are in stock." I was really looking forward to buy them. Okay, here's the bad part. I quickly paid them online and it said it'll take about two weeks to ship them here. I was confused, "Aren't these in Anchorage?" I waited and waited. Almost a month, it finally said," Out of stock." That ticked me off. I waited for nothing? And they didn't automatically reimburse my money back. It was such a hassle trying to contact the customer service to cancel it. They were SLOW as sloths. To make things worse, I have been billed twice on my credit card. I was frustrated and I had to call my credit card company to cancel it. I decided to keep my old washer and dryer. I figured if it's not broken, why buy new ones? They need to fix their broken website. For example, if it's the last one in stock, don't buy it! Their website will not instantly save it for you. Someone might've already bought it hours ago or maybe 5 minutes ago. Their stupid website doesn't update it fast enough. They hired some of the worse people to do the customer service. I get it. Well-organized, clean location with decent inventory. Sub par customer service. I walked the whole store trying to find the snow blowers and lawn mowers with snow plows. Once I did, there were four employees in the area. Two were talking to customers, one was staring at his phone and one...was dusting. I thought to myself, this guy is doing anything he can to avoid customers. I went around to the snow blowers. I tried a few out. I pulled out the owners manual and stared at the plastic wrapping that covered them. I stared at it puzzled. I turned toward an employee. Nothing. Frustrated I walked toward the exit. Three separate employees went speeding past me. I finally flagged down the third. He was able to answer my questions. Yes, those are the only snowblowers we have. No, we don't have any mowers with snow plows. Check the North Anchorage store for that. read more

They have a nice selection, but they have a tendency to bed pricey, so I try to hold out for sale items. As for hardware, they have a huge selection bit the store is super confusing. If I could give the Lowes and Lowe's delivery company less than one star I would. We bought a freezer from Lowe's and it was delivered on time, except it had a dent on it. The bad part was that one of the delivery guys stole a hair trimmer kit from my husband.The guy asked if he could use our bathroom and my husband said yes. We realized that the delivery guy had taken the kit after they had left.We told Lowes what happened, but nothing came of it. Next we bought a gas stove from Lowe's. We had a long wait until it the stove was finally delivered. So the delivery guys finally delivered the new gas stove and were supposed to haul away our old stove. Lowes had given the wrong size supply line to the delivery guys! So we wait another week; this time it's a no show. I had to call and was told, ' someone was sick at Lowe's so there's no delivery today. This was after waiting an entire day! The delivery guys finally arrived today and tried to hook up the stove, but the supply line was still the wrong size. They did us a favor and hooked it up with their own supply line and hauled away out old stove. We looked down at the laminate floor and they managed to make a huge scratch on our floor!!' I have visited this location more than the other locations, but less than the Home Depot across the street. I found that for the same item it was cheaper to go to HD. Recently, I received a gift card to here and decided to splurge on a propane gas tank for a new grill and an 8 foot ladder to help with bulb replacement and gutter cleaning at my new place. All 3 times I've been met with very nice staff members and quality products. I will come again based on easy access to customer service over the phone, and knowledgable staff in their aisle of expertise. One thing to note, if you buy your own propane tank for $22, you should read the sticker. New tanks have to be purged and dude at the gas station wouldn't fill it til I verified that the sticker read "purged for your convenience" by a staff member. It could have exploded from little metal shavings inside the container if not purged. Second thing to note, if you buy a rhino it is $49, but the tank is full, and you have to return it to get another one. Buying a 20# tank yourself is $22 plus the cost of propane filled at around $17 made this at least $10 cheaper, and you own the tank. Things to put in your mouth and chew it. Finally find the door and lock set I needed and got it myself. Took it to the register to pay and there is only one register open. There are 9 people in front of me. Summary: Terrible customer service. Expensive and refuse to price match with other stores. Product was nearly 20% MORE EXPENSIVE than Home Depot, not including all the extra fees. At Store #0289 (Tudor), in Appliances I stood in line for almost an hour to be helped. Lyndel neither looked, nor spoke to me once about helping me while I patiently waited. I didn't mind until two other customers arrived at two different times after I did. He told each of them "Thank you for waiting, I'll be with you in a moment," and each time I felt ignored and invisible. I started to wonder if I was ever going to be helped, as he even helped one customer who arrived after I did. I think his behavior was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I even wondered if he was a racist, as my family and I were the only minorities in Appliances. I know he knew I was there, because I tried to catch his glance a few times, AND he helped the customer in front of me. During our entire wait, my family and I were ignored by him, and we almost walked out. My brother even called Store #1633 (Old Seward) to see how busy they were, so we could go there. The only reason why we didn't walk out is because Cynthia helped us. Cynthia, his coworker, was WONDERFUL. While I was waiting in line, she had been helping another customer on the floor. I didn't see her until she came up to the computers to complete their order. As soon as she finished helping them, she called me to her computer and helped me. She was friendly, professional, patient, understanding, and helpful. I asked her if Lowe's price matched with Home Depot, and she said yes. When I showed her the picture I took at Home Depot for the same item at a better price, she initiated the process of verifying and price matching. Shortly thereafter, she told me that Store #0289 doesn't price match with Home Depot unless Home Depot had the product in stock (it was in transit). She said I could try Store #1633, because their management was different. She was apologetic, and I thanked her for her time and left for Store #1633. After calling around and going to different stores, I ended up calling Cynthia and ordering the product over the phone. The only reason why I gave Store #0289 my business is because they're the only ones in the entire town who had it in stock. To be frank, I am enraged I even spent a dime there. I'm infuriated with Lyndel's shitty customer service, and I'm furious that this store's management refuses to price match. If winter wasn't around the corner, and this product didn't necessitate urgency, I would've ordered from Home Depot and waited for the shipment. It is my understanding that COVID-19 has delayed the supply chain, which is another reason why I felt like I had no choice but to purchase at this store. It is upsetting that Lowe's seems to be taking advantage of their customers' desperation with shitty customer service, and creating loopholes to their price matching. This pandemic is going to end eventually, and when supply chains are back to normal, I will be taking all of our business (both professional and personal) to Home Depot, like today and our +$3000 purchase there. read more

Paint Department staff are not really sure what they are doing and are rude to customers! Visited today at 1:30pm. I had a long list of items I needed to purchase and started with our exterior paint. I had to work with two different staff bc they kept leaving me to help others. I could not get my questions answered and then when they finally answered why I couldn't get the paint I wanted in a specific color, I thanked them for finally telling me why I couldn't get what I needed. One staff member said to me "I told you three different times!" I will take my business and my money elsewhere. Maybe Home Depot hires more professional staff. read more

large appliance purchased at tudor store. confirmed a saturday delivery and a request to contact a cell number for the delivery ETA at the time of purchase. received a voicemail on saturday left on friday at the home number instead of the cell number. message stated that the appliance was the 6th item to be delivered and to reply back for confirmation. called tudor store saturday to confirm and could not be given an ETA to delivery. called tudor store sunday morning for an update and was given an assumption of an early delivery, but no ETA. called tudor store back sunday afternoon and was given an ETA by 6pm. their delivery services are the same as their store hours on sunday, which is 8pm. thanks, ben. read more

The only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because of two awesome people who made me trip a bit better. I waited OVER 30 minutes (after having someone paged twice) for someone to assist me in getting a piece of plywood cut and was finally helped by a lady assisting another customer. She asked if I had been helped and I told her no and within 3 minutes she had found a gentlemen to come back and help me. They were both very polite and wonderful to be assisted by but only after I had called the front desk and asked for help 2 different times and no one ever came to help me. read more

Now my wife is part of the program for single moms and she does the counseling there and one of the people she counsels came in yesterday crying saying that her house is flooding because of her hot water heater. So naturally me being a general contractor she called me up and told me that I would be helping this girl for free. I don't have a problem I would've done it without my wife's order LOL. However I brought this to the attention of the people at Lowe's and asked them if they would be willing to at least give this lady a 10% discount on a new hot water heater or anything for that matter just so that we could save this single moms family from having to spend so much money. I got nothing but BS from multiple people at Lowe's. Everybody claiming that there are new and they wouldn't know how to do it and they have to contact the manager. They contacted the manager and he says the best that he could do is if I applied for a credit card they can give me a discount. To which I replied I already have a Lowe's credit card but I'm doing this job for free and I don't want to run it through my company so I don't have to invoice and all that sort of stuff. But I walked out of that store so angry and so frustrated and so disappointed that knows wouldn't even give her a lousy 10% discount which would've only cost them $50 at Max. I don't know why this town is coming to you but I've been here for almost 40 years and I remember where people just helped people out. And I am so disappointed in those right now that I am willing to discount everything all of my time and labor and roses and even willing to give them a measly $50. So I decided to go across the street just to see what Home Depot would do. I showed them all of my information and all the pictures and the texts between my wife and this single mom and not only was Home Depot willing to give me a 25% discount on all of the products but they also donated an additional $25 gift card that I presented to the family.
