Lower 48 Contracting/Painting is currently in the process of painting my condo complex. And they've been "in the process" since early May - it's been over 2 months and they're still working on parts of the complex.
My main complaint is with their business practices when it has come to communication with the condo owners here. They posted a notice on our door giving us a specific day when they would need to have access to our backyard in order to paint the backside of our condo. I don't have any problem with giving them access to our backyard, but I do have a dog who uses the yard during the day, so it really is important that I get notice so that I can make other arrangements for my dog. In this case, I actually had to take a vacation day from work in order to get my dog out of the house on the day they'd be painting. He is quite territorial, and I've learned from experience that having strangers in his space makes for an unnecessarily stressful day for the little guy.
Sadly, rather than coming on the day they gave us notice for, they actually did my backyard a day early. I talked with some sort of foreman on the day before they were supposed to come and told him that they couldn't be in my backyard today as my dog is back there, and he assured me that I had no need to worry. Silly me, I thought that meant that they would do something else that day and come back on the day they were supposed to. My roommate knew better and left work early to go home and rescue the dog. Sure enough, they had let themselves into the backyard even though I had told them not to. Bastards.
So now my roommate is out half a day of work, and I lost a vacation day for no reason because I had naively made arrangements to take the dog away on the day they said they'd be here.
Can't express how pissed off I am about being lied to by whoever that foreman or supervisor was. "Nothing to worry about" my ass. No regard whatsoever for my dog's wellfare, or concern about trespassing my yard despite having been told not to. Why give us notice if you're just going to barge in whenever you want, anyway? Is that really legal? I seriously hope not.
And what about the risk you just exposed me to? What if my dog had become so stressed out that he attacked one of your staff? I would have been liable for that damage, despite the fact that your crew was trespassing. I really wish you would think about what you were doing before doing it. And I'd like to be repaid for my roommate's half day of lost work and my own vacation day that I can't get back because I bothered to trust your stupid notices.
Got painting work that needs doing? I wouldn't count on these guys to do it for you. Can't wait for them to be done here - I'm sick of being pissed off every time I see one of their guys in our complex. read more
