And while it was on the opposite side of the road for me heading southeast, it was easy to make a U-turn back towards in a short amount of time. There was ample space for cars, trucks, and big rigs. Trash cans, cigarette receptacles, mostly clean restrooms, vending machines, picnic tables, barbecue grills, handicap, access, interpretive displays and plenty of room to stretch out your legs with the dog, but I'm not sure if there were any dog waste bags available. We didn't see any attendants on the grounds at around 10:30 AM on 5.24.2025, however, this rest area is well-maintained and no trash in sight. Recommended.

There is a straight line of parking for both cars and trucks. A few trees so if you're lucky, you might find shade to get a nap. The first stay my husband had to track down a board due to the fact our window did not lock. We said ok, maybe it's ok now. The room carpet was so nasty that it ruined many of pairs of socks. They do have construction happening, but a true construction project, you use caution tape or signs to notify. They had done of the sorts saying it was a construction zone proceed with caution. The first stay, I had one of the first desk ladies be rude and laugh in my face because I explained that I had chemo brain and was having trouble understanding. The thing that truly did this stay all in was when the owner had the audacity to infrisge on my husbands right to free speech. The owner literally called and told me to control my husband because he was speaking to the front desk guy. I was appalled. Then kept running his mouth that he was listening to audio that my husband was asking stupid questions. Well my husband was simply asking who they were using as a construction crew. My husband picked up over 13 nails in the parking lot because the construction crew was not doing so. Spoke to the owner about that, which he was rude, saying we knew construction was going on and he was not reliable for nails in tires when actually he would be held liable due to it his property. The hall way and lobby is extremely hot because the owner will not put a new breaker in. It's almost like he is running a sweat shop. Not to mention the mold, all in the restroom. I had front desk staff just walk in the room on me and my son. My husband has photos of a lot more. And I'm willing to post them

My hubby needs sleeping space but even after 36 years we still like to share a bed! The room was cramped with the two beds. Only space for one chair so someone had to sit on the bed. There was no room to walk around or get from the ac unit to the tv without climbing over or moving something. The tv remote had to be switched at the front desk. While the linens were nice and clean the bed was hard. If we would have gotten the bigger bed that I reserved, our experience would have been quite different. Breakfast was good. Staff was nice. Manager sucked.

Is it old? Yes. Is it outdated and a little bit dirty? Yes. Is the staff not overly friendly or helpful? Kinda. Is it 1 million times better than Motel 6 still? Hell yes!! This place is a bit difficult to get to - tip: there are actually two or three motels in this same spot. To get to this particular place, do not turn on Bankhead, go to the next light, make a right onto a street called Midkiff Rd and follow the signs. Once we had arrived and obtained our keys, we found our room to be pretty comfortable and mostly clean. It was spacious, well furnished, and even had a small kitchenette complete with a microwave, two burner cooktop stove and a full sized refrigerator/freezer. The air-conditioning worked well and the shower water/pressure/temperature was great. The TV has a good amount of cable channels and the Wi-Fi is pretty decent. Beds are so-so in comfort. Could definitely use some new linens (was not too big a deal for me though, I bring my own). I felt overall pretty safe here, which is a big plus. I did not see a bunch of riffraff or prostitutes and drug dealers wandering around outside like I have many of the much cheaper hotels/motels (especially Motel 6). Supposedly they have breakfast in the morning, But I did not wake up in time to check. For a little over $100 a night - not too bad. However, you also need to consider what's available in the area to be fair. Don't be expecting the Hilton, but on if you are on a limited budget like us and cannot afford $250 a night plus for Holiday Inn-it will do.

The bad, the top two floors are smoking I was given a smoking room without being asked. The elevator smelled of smoke and when we got to our floor we could barely walk down the hall. We covered our mouth and nose. The showers (had two different rooms) had very little water pressure. After the first night the staff moved its top the noon smoking floor, this was much better. However, we still had to ride the elevator which was always think from smoke. The owners should invest in better air filtration fit the common areas. I probably would not stay with this chain again.
