Great historic hotel. It was remodeled about 10 years ago. The rooms were modernized. Antique fossits and sinks were replaced, but there are still a lot of the original features and it is beautiful ! We had breakfast at the grill inside the hotel and enjoyed the food and service. Beds were very comfortable but I did have a hard time to use the remote for the TV lol

Very nice place to stay when driving through west texas. It is much nicer than any of the chains. Comfortable rooms and owners seem to care about your experience. Highly recommended!

Stoped in for beer and dinner. What a really neat and cool old hotel. Staff were absolutely amazing and had great customer service in the bar. Food was really good. Definitely would like to stay here next time around for the experience.

Chicken fried steak with pepper gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. Delicious!

Outstanding 2012 renovation of a 1929 beauty! This magnificent period hotel has understated elegance in all aspects from lobby furniture to room furnishings. Our BLT wedge salads were perfect (custom) and the chicken fried steak tender and flavorful. Our server went above and beyond to make sure my husband was happy - even bringing him a chilled glass for his beer! This was our first visit to the Settles Hotel and Restaurant but it won't be our last - we will return in 10 days on our way back to Austin. What a West Texas gem

What a great hotel. They have restored the elegance of this 30s era hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our anniversary fell during the middle of the week so I decided we'd make the 45 minute drive over and spend the night. Glad we did. Much better than going out to dinner at a crowded restaurant then back home. They don't make hotels like this anymore. Had dinner at the restaurant. Avocado fundido appetizer was great. I had a tossed salad too. It was enough for a meal. Ranch dressing was awesome. I had chicken fried steak. Very very good. My wife had the pork chop. It was probably 2" thick and very tasty. Chocolate torte for dessert was good. A little too chocolate for my taste. Can't wait to see what is for breakfast.

We took the long way to Big Bend to stop at the Settles. The detour was completely worth it. Big Spring has a long way to go, but the Settles is impressive rebirth of an old landmark. Our room was very large, and obviously brand new. The attention to detail on the renovation was truly impressive. The grill is very good, and the staff is great. They do need to practice a better answer to "what is there to see in Big Spring". Parts of the renovation are still under way, like the whole pool area. I'll be back when its done.

Beautiful hotel, great service and historic feel to this gem of Big Spring TX. I came here on a business trip with my mother. We staid in one of the historic rooms that were renovated to look like the original rooms of this glorious hotel. The bed was super comfortable, the linens very nice and our stay was short but sweet. The pool area is beautiful, the bar is a great place to hang and play pool. We hope to come back again to stay. Thank you for such a great time!

One of the best hotels I have stayed at. Great service the amenities were great and the staff were very nice and helpful. It is a classic jewel!

We bid on this hotel in a silent auction in Dallas not really knowing anything about the hotel or Big Spring. We had no idea when we "won" how much we would love it. I must start by saying this is a 4 hour done from Dallas with not much to see on route and the downtown of Big Spring is either closed and boarded up. So this hotel is a destination into itself. ... and my review is of the hotel and not Big Spring (which sadly would rate low) Also please bear in mind we did not pay the full amount for our room and if I had paid $200-$250 I am sure my review would be different. The fact is this hotel is about the only thing open in the small downtown and until recently was also closed. They have renovated this hotel to its former splendor and what an amazing job. The hotel has a restaurant (Settles grill) and a wonderful bar called The pharmacy (once an old drug store) The lobby is stunning and a beautiful pool complete with cabanas is outside (wasn't warm enough for us to enjoy this) Our room was just gorgeous and had a view of the flat plains all around. I don't know how busy the hotel was but our room was incredibly peaceful at night. I don't know if I would travel back to Big Spring just for a full price night here but I certainty would for the right price. My only complaint at all is that the staff in both the hotel and the restaurant seemed so young and inexperienced. They were all very sweet and friendly but just not very knowledgeable about the area, the food, the hotel. .. anything.

    Beautiful open kitchen

I've only had the lunch so far but the chicken fried steak was very tender and flavorful. Finally a decent restaurant in Big Spring!

This is one of the enlarged rooms.

This place is amazing! After being closed and sitting vacant for 30 years, it was completely renovated and reopened. All floors, except the 3rd floor, were enlarged and are HUGE! The 3rd floor was left original and even those rooms aren't too small. Elvis once stayed in 311. It has a beautiful outside pool and hot tub and a restaurant and bar inside. The lobby is quite grand with a very elegant staircase. Definitely an amazing place to stay, if ever in the area.

Beautiful lobby of the Settles Hotel.

This has become our favorite hotel when passing through West Texas. It first caught our eye when driving through Big Spring. We researched the landmark and found that it was a restored hotel. The rooms are luxiouros and well appointed. The rates are reasonable. The Settles Grill was a pleasant surprise; while a bit pricey for the region, very tasty and worth the price.

We stayed in a suite - 2 queen beds as well as a sofa bed. It was such a large room; perfect for our family! The sink was separate from the bathroom, and there was a second sink in the kitchen area. The kitchen area had a mini fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. There were plenty of places for everyone's phone/watch chargers. Everything was clean. A/C was cold. We did have to ask for a few more washcloths and towels, since we were 5 people, but the front desk took care of it. The hotel seemed quite full (we saw at least two high school teams there), yet we did not hear lots of noise, and had no problems getting a good night's sleep. Breakfast is included in your stay. Even with the two large groups staying at the same time as us, the breakfast was refilled often, so we were still able to enjoy all the choices available. There was bacon, omelets, toast, muffins, bagels, scones, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, waffles, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, and water. The breakfast attendant did a great job. This was a great stay after a full day of driving! I would highly recommend staying here.

It's a good location, it's clean, the lobby, the property, and the room itself seemed very clean. I checked in late, and staff got me in very quickly. I think I paid around $150 or so, and the main reason I booked was because of the high rating here on Yelp. My biggest problem with the room was the bed. It was really firm mattress, no padded top of any kind, and the pillows and sheets were really low thread count stuff. The pillows were small and had those billowy, rough, pillow covers on them. Not very comfortable, at all. The pillows were also very soft, like envelop your head completely soft. The sheet and the blanket/cover was the same. I rarely use anything but the sheet in hotels nowadays, but it was rough as well. Thankfully I was just there for the night, but I would have hated to have a multi night stay here with the bed accommodations. I can kind of understand the possible reason for this. The parking lot had to be 75% full of company work trucks, so that has to be the predominate clientele in this town. Maybe they don't want to invest a lot in something that might have to be changed a lot, I dunno. My fridge was kinda noisy till I dealt with it, (don't ask how) but other than that and the bed, everything was pretty good. Could've used some curtains that blocked out the sun better, but whatever. I also was a little miffed at while going through the TV channels, I saw something I wanted to watch but when I chose it I got a message that said "to watch this channel, call and upgrade to higher video service". You gotta be kidding me, what a racket. I honestly wouldn't stay here again voluntarily. I would either find another hotel, which I didn't see a big choice here, or keep driving until something better is available.

While the town of Big Spring isn't much to look at, this hotel has been resurrected from the dead and made to shine brighter than ever. Seriously, if you get the chance to look through the crazy renovation pictures in the lobby you have to see just how bad the condition was when the owners bought it! Despite the age, the elevators weren't worrying at all, and the woman at the front desk recommended a high floor to us for the view. I'm glad she did because it really was beautiful to watch the sun set across the vast flatness of Texas from the 11th floor. Before I get to the room, I have to shoutout how beautiful the lobby is. Grand staircase, beautiful decor, an antique car, informative history on the walls, AND an amazing bar and a great restaurant on site too. It's awesome, and my friend and I were both impressed by the drinks we got with dinner. We were all very satisfied with our dinners and the portions were generous. Customer service was also top notch in every aspect, and that's definitely not just because they gave us a delicious homemade chocolate chip cookie (omg so good). Now to get to the hotel room... first of all, it was HUGE! Probably the biggest hotel room I've ever stayed in. Two big beds with a generous amount of space around them, a full coffee bar at the entrance to the room, a big walk-in closet space, a vanity, and a huge bathroom that had a soaking tub AND a spacious shower stall. Honestly, we were stunned by the size of the room and that was only capped off by the comfort of the beds. After road tripping across Texas all day, these were absolutely magical. We'd wanted to stay in unique places on this road trip and I'm so glad we did because Hotel Settles isn't just beautiful, it's also comfortable and very luxurious in the accommodations and food / drink options on site! Highly recommend!!

As a woman staying alone in the room during the day, this immediately made me feel unsafe and vulnerable. My boyfriend contacted the front desk and asked if maintenance could come look at it. We were told nothing could be done until the following day. The next day, I waited all morning for maintenance, but no one ever came or contacted me. Around noon, I went to the front desk myself, and the employee was extremely rude. She claimed she "knew" I was still in the room and said maintenance would not enter while I was there. However, no one ever communicated that to me, knocked on the door, called the room, or informed me I needed to step out temporarily for repairs. I then asked about switching rooms due to the safety issue, and I was told there were no available rooms. Because the hotel failed to properly secure the room or provide another accommodation, my boyfriend and I had to go to Walmart ourselves to buy a broomstick and cut it down to place in the window for security. It is like being told by a business owner that you are stupid. Okay that's two loes because I am not stupid. Last night's best rate was a bit over $50. I paid their highest rate. I should have been met with an apology for the "misunderstanding" and the offer of a small refund.
