This was my first time at Love You Beauty Studio and my first time receiving this type of service. Booking online was super easy, and I appreciated the clear menu and pricing. I also received two confirmation texts and an email reminder--great communication. I arrived about 10 minutes late and even got a courtesy call to confirm my appointment, which I thought was a nice touch. When I arrived, no one was at the front desk, so I hung my own coat. There's a cooler with drinks and snacks near the hostess desk (nice touch, although I wasn't offered anything). Once the hostess returned, she paired me with my tech, Jaki, and I was escorted to my pedicure chair. The service itself was where things went downhill for me. I had a Russian mani-pedi, and instead of softening my skin first, Jaki used an electric file to clean my nail beds and trimmed my cuticles dry. This was really uncomfortable. I flinched multiple times, and she had to stop repeatedly. To be fair, I recently injured my foot and hadn't been able to care for my feet properly, so my cuticles were in rough shape. At one point, I even told her to skip my cuticles and move on. Unfortunately, my hands were no different--the electric file and dry cuticle trimming were just as uncomfortable and took away from the "self-care" vibe. The next day, I realized I wasn't overreacting. When I applied hand sanitizer, my cuticles were burning and swollen. I'm pretty sure it was from the method used to trim them. That said, the end result is stunning. My nails look amazing--but my cuticles hurt like hell. Would I go back? Possibly--but I'd definitely request a different tech. read more

Recently moved back to the Chicago area from DC and was in dire need of a mani and pedicure. I was looking for a sanitary, dry nail salon, that offered dazzle dry products. I stopped getting gel a few years back because of the damage it was doing to my nail plate. So now I just get regular polish. It's super easy and convenient to schedule online, there is metered street parking but it's not hard to find a spot. It's diagonal from a Bank of America and near some cute eateries if you're looking to grab a bite before or after. It's a quaint studio space offering hair and nail spa services. They offer sparkling water, pop, and other light refreshments at the entry which is an added bonus. The front desk manager is very hospitable and on point with checking you in and getting your services started. I love that they actually care about nail shop and ask you what are your preferences. They have built in fans in the manicure tables as well, which is amazing for all the dust particles from filing. The spa pedicure chairs are top notch and will massage you from your ankles up. I fell in love with the calf squeezing feature, and the upper back massage. It even had slits to massage your arms. I took full advantage while my pedicure dried. I didn't feel rushed or mistreated during or after my services. And my nails looked amazing afterwards. The only thing is my polish didn't last as long as the first time I received it ... not sure if it was due to them not using the 1st nail prep step or me immediately getting my hands wet while washing my hair right after. I also met another lady there that was getting a gel fill in, after trying them for the first time and spoke highly of them as well. All in all 10/10 highly recommend. read more

Affordable russian inspired manicure. I booked a junior technician online (which has a discounted rate) and was a little nervous but she did an amazing job. My only complaint is that I showed up a bit early to pick a color and the receptionist rushed me into the chair so I randomly grabbed one of the sample rings and used that as a palette to pick a color which was very limiting. 100% will be going back, i'll just be a bit more assertive about taking my time to pick a color. read more

I came to find out about Love You through social media, and first booked a Russian mani and regular pedi online. Initially there wasn't a tech to do my pedicure, so I had to come back another day for the pedi. The manicure was fine, it lasted 3+ weeks, my technician was thorough and took the time to understand the design I wanted. I will say there's a huge language barrier with the techs, and the front desk hostess will often come back to translate between the customers and techs. They have a limited selection of regular polish colors, and do not use OPI, Essie, or DND. I've noticed that their base and top coat gel polishes are branded with Love You, and their gel polishes are brands I am unfamiliar with. They have a much wider selection of gel polishes than regular polishes. Their pedicure chairs are zero gravity, which allows you to lay at a 180° angle and the chair massages down to the calves. I do find their prices to be a bit high, but so far I haven't received bad service or a negative experience, and again, the technicians take their time and do great work. I will continue to return here for the time being, especially because they sometimes send discounts via text. read more

This is honestly my first really bad review. This place is new to West Loop and honestly I had such high hopes after my first experience. I was so happy that for my second experience, I brought my friend. They didn't have an available appointment, so I used the text service to schedule. We showed up on time for our appointment only to be met with confusion. They explained the text service had booked us at Old town and if I would have "scrolled down more", I would have seen that. She then explained no one was available to do our nails and we could go to Old Town because "now someone was waiting on us." I explained to her that I also called to which she requested to see my call log. I explained to her I called from work and can't possibly make it to Old Town and asked if she could possibly at least fit my friend in. She explained she could (I don't know why she didn't offer in the first place). I rescheduled my appointment and My friend stayed for hers but her nails and cuticles were cut and her nail fell off immediately. I felt all things considered, I was pretty understanding, but also felt bad my friend had a poor experience. I returned for my appointment which was fine, but about a few days later the edges of my nails began turning black. I stopped in to see if they could fit me in for a quick polish change (which I was willing to pay for) to which she said they could not aside from one time I couldn't make. I asked could they just squeeze me in between appointments to which the answer was no. She offered me a noon appointment the following day which is in the middle of the work day and no way I could leave. The girl was sweet and it's not her fault, but come on. At this point, I became so frustrated l, I just left. At this point I would just pay for someone else to fix it. To be honest, if it was just an appointment mix up and one bad nail experience, I would rate this higher, but it was the blaming me for not understanding how their appointments work, lack of flexibility, poor (and dangerous) service for my friend, and not great scheduling practices that did it for me. So initially I received great service but my second experience with them was HORRIBLE. I booked and paid for a same time service that was suppose to be quick and convenient. I received the complete opposite. The young lady doing my nails was nice and sweet but cut my finger. It took a week to heal. The young lady doing my "pedicure" did a horrendous job. First of all, they do not do a real Russian pedicure. They just wash your feet and polish the nails. They don't do the same technique they do on your hands. The girl doing my toes cut the nails so short that I was almost in tears. They didn't offer to fix them until I refused to pay. The girl who did my nails, have to fix my feet which took almost an additional hour. She had to extend my toe nails using hard gel and it made my toes look thick and fake. Despite me booking a fast and same time appointment, I was in this salon for hoursssssssss. I was offered no discount or compensation for the inconvenience. I do not recommend any more. read more

I was a new customer who found out about this location through instagram. I decided to leave my regular nail studio to try out LoveYou Nails after being marketed a 20% discount as a first time customer. I even confirmed with the business directly through instagram when I scheduled my services. They knew when I was coming and said yes I'll receive 20% off. When I went to pay they did not honor the 20% discount. The person checking me out was not experienced or knowledgeable about it, and whoever she called to approve it denied the discount. The person paying in front of me was also denied a discount that she was promised. I at least had confirmation in writing directly from the business, but it didn't matter. It demonstrated terrible customer service and tainted my first experience. The nail techs did a fine job, so I'm giving 3 stars because I would have returned but unfortunately I won't be coming back. read more

Booked an appointment for mani pedi and a men's haircut for my husband. I get a text that apparently the lady who is in on that day can only do women's hair. Fine. I tell them that's okay, please keep my mani pedi. I get no response or confirmation. I come in on time and they tell me they can't find me in the system, I show them all the proof, and it turns out they had cancelled my apt all together. Then, the front desk girl says "well your appointment would've been for 1 anyways, the haircut was at 12:30" strange. All my confirmation texts show 12:30, but she loved to argue back. Not even 1 single apology. She eventually says they can take me now, but doesn't bother to tell the girl who's doing my nails what the appointment is for. The girl understands 0 English, does not understand "to cut nails short" or "almond shape". I refuse to give this business my money anymore. Most of the technicians have no idea what they're doing, often rely on others to help when they can't do a certain design. The quality of this place is in the gutter, with uncomfortable chairs. You're better off spending a little more money for true luxury at Chloe Chen. read more

I had to get in somewhere quick because I accidentally had scheduled the wrong day at my usual nail salon in the city. so this place was only 10 mins away. it seemed nice at first I got a pedicure and manicure service. I wanted my nails cut down shorter on my hands and this lady literally cut all my nails off and to top that off she filed one hand almond (which I wanted) and the other hand round. and not even a week later my nails started chipping and that never happens at the other salon I go to. and my nails feel so weak and brittle. this is definitely not a russian manicure service. they say it is. but russian manicures put on a different builder gel that makes your nails indestructible. either way this will be the last time i'm coming here. if you want a REAL russian manicure please do your research and go to another place that's not this one. read more

Traveling from the west coast, I came in to get my pedicure done at this place since walking in Chicago takes a toll on your feet. Classic pedicures include a warm foot soak and a foot scrubbing with either a pumice stone or foot file followed by clipping of the nails, shaping of the nails, your cuticles being pushed back, removal of callus, a short foot and calf massage and exfoliating scrub to remove dead skin. Russian pedicure is so different, I never got it done before. They don't do 75% of what regular classic pedicure if you are looking for regular pedicure with some of the additional service I would suggest to go somewhere else. read more

This was my first time at this salon as i usually go to a better one around the corner. My salon wasnt available so i decided to try another salon that specializes in russian manicures. I booked an appointment for a short (level one) french tip ( which is an add on meaning i paid extra) full set, with the total being $105. When i arrived I had to circle the block a few times for parking so i did arrive about 5 minutes late. When i came in the hostess was in the back talking so I waited politely until she came back to the front which was about 2-3 mins. (I know the time stamps based on my running parking meter). When she came to the front finally i told her my name and she responded "oh we were waiting for you" which i found a little dramatic and rude considering i waited for her as well. I sat down for my service with my tech. I dont know her name considering she just sat down and started doing my nails and she was not wearing a name tag. I found it a little weird we didnt discuss what i would be getting but since i booked exactly what i wanted I just figured she knew based off of the appointment request. She continued to do my nails and she did ask what shape I would like. The appointment was going fine and the tech was nice. After applying my base coat for the french tip, the hostess comes and begins talking to the tech in a different language. After they go back and forth the hostess turns to me and says "we dont have time to do your french tips" ........ and then blankly stares at me as if i am going to say thats okay??? Mind you she had just applied the basic base coat for my french tips so if we stopped i would just have this nude bare color and nothing else for a $100 set. She tried to tell me that because i was late, which was only 5 minutes, that they cant do my nails. I responded that I waited for her in the front for some time as well and that would not be okay. If anything you should state that before beginning the service. I asked how does 5 minutes make this difference in me receiving the style i booked or not? After seeing my frustration i think, she just replied okay and the tech continued doing my nails. They came out okay i wasnt in love but they werent bad . I then went to the front to pay. I was planning to use cash and the host informed me they dont take cash anymore, which would have been nice to know but no problem. I go to pay with my card and she tells me to wait and then comes back and turns the screen to me. She changed my booking so that the price was now $120 because she said i booked a level one length wise and my nails look like a level 2!!!??? At this point i was overly annoyed. The booking clearly stated what i wanted the tech never asked me what i wanted before starting and if there is going to be an upcharge on anything you need to clearly state that and ask if thats something i would like to do before doing it. (EVEN THOUGH I ASKED FOR SHORT I NEVER ASKED FOR A LEVEL 2) . I told her i wasnt paying that and i booked a short set. She immediately changed the price back. I still tipped even though i hated my experience because i come from the service industry and i would never be able to not tip but this place left me feeling like they were trying to get over on my multiple times.
