WAGWEAR - New York, NY (48 E 11th Street)…read more Wagwear makes excellent dog shoes -- the product itself is great. Unfortunately, the customer service at this specific location is consistently terrible, and after three separate visits, I feel compelled to speak up. This was my third time visiting the 48 E 11th Street store. During my first visit, a younger sales associate was pleasant and helpful. However, even then, an older woman wearing a black sweater was sarcastic and rude. On my second visit, that same woman attempted to rush me out of the store because another dog she preferred was present. I walked out, thought about it, and returned to state that I would be putting my dog's shoes on in-store. I still spent over $100 that day, yet I was treated as though my presence was an inconvenience. Today, on my third visit, I returned hoping there would be a change. There wasn't. I came in with my son to purchase shoes for my golden doodle puppy. Both older women working were dismissive and offered very minimal help. They seemed uncomfortably concerned about my puppy, as if he were going to do something wrong -- despite the fact that their dog (a miniature pinscher) approached my dog first, which they then quickly moved away. This interaction made me feel uncomfortable and singled out. Based on repeated experiences, I seriously doubt this behavior is applied equally to all customers. I personally witnessed noticeably different energy and attention given to dogs and customers they seemed to favor during a previous visit. To make matters worse, when I asked a simple question about whether the store offers any trade-in or discount options for previously purchased shoes (due to an impulsive buy), the woman in the black sweater responded sarcastically: "Well, if you grow out of pants, stores don't take those back." This comment was unnecessary, rude, and incorrect. When I corrected her -- as some stores do offer such programs -- she responded defensively rather than professionally. Overall, the tone, dismissiveness, and sarcasm from the staff -- particularly the older employees -- create an unwelcoming and tense environment. As a person of color, the treatment felt uncomfortable and outdated, with an edge that has no place in retail today. This store needs management involvement and serious staff retraining. Great products do not excuse disrespectful or biased customer service. I love the shoes, but I will not continue supporting a location where I feel unwelcome and disrespected.

It gives me a peace of mind seeing them safe. Not to mention, summer days, the sidewalks are extremely hot, I personally think it's cruel to let our dogs paws burn on the hot side walks while we cover our feet's during the summer and winter. Just my personal opinion. Thank you WagWear for always keeping my puppies paws protected! You're the best, not to mention your service in store, and online is impeccable! Special thanks to Dakota for her amazingly kind service!

In fact, this is an excellent pet store, although I suspect something about these reviews that are from reviewers that sound alike and don't really have that much other Yelp stuff. I'm not saying they're fake - maybe they're just real customers that were asked to sign up for Yelp specifically to write reviews for this place - I have no idea. Or maybe they are fake. The store is somewhere between 4 and 5. It's not cheap but they do have some great selection so I will lean toward the five since everybody else did - but with the caveat that I'm not sure how much you can trust the reviews. Still a great store and I fully support family businesses anyway.

They lost a 14+ year customer to Chewy because their policies are anything but customer centric. I joined the frequent buyer's club for Orijen dog and cat food. I was told three times that on my next visit, I was entitled to a free bag of dog food. Whenever I came to claim it, they said it was actually on my next visit. When it happened the second time, I took photos of my receipt and tracker to ensure no future problems. I just went for the third time to claim my bag. I was told the program was discontinued. No warning, no outreach, no consolation for a long standing customer. I bought a bag of Orijen and changed my mind, less than two minutes later. When I asked to return it, I was told no refunds. No written policy anywhere in sight of the cash register. Rather than fight, I decided it was my last visit there and I'd add Orijen to my next Chewy delivery. Do better for your customers, NYC Pet. As a first-time dog owner, I was nervous about leaving him anywhere, but the team at Digs immediately made me feel like he was in great hands. They treat Rigsby like he's one of their own, and it's so obvious how much they genuinely love and care about dogs. Rigsby absolutely loves it here and can't get through the door fast enough! Seeing how excited he is to go and how happy he is to see everyone there is all the confirmation I need that Digs was the best decision. And having access to cameras to peek in is a huge plus for me (and showing coworkers in need of some cuteness overload during the day). The boarding services are great. Whenever we travel, I know Rigsby is not only having fun but also getting a good night's rest after a day of play. Their grooming services are amazing too! They've helped Rigsby get comfortable with baths and brushing--something I never thought would happen at first. And Nancy, in particular, is an absolute rockstar. Every time she grooms him, he comes out looking like he belongs on a puppy runway. So grateful to Digs Hotel for taking such amazing care of my pup. I highly recommend for anyone who wants their pup treated like family.
