That's comparing an AA battery to the size of the macaron.

I have been a loyal customer for past year. They are so worth the $, it's supporting local, and make amazing gifts to friends/family. They are the biggest macarons I've ever seen and prob the prettiest I've seen yet. I am showing some comparisons to household items to show how big they are. This is from a few times I've ordered from her.

If you can't finish the croissants day of, make sure to retoast them in the toaster oven! It will still be buttery and flakey and delicious! I love getting their bon bons as gifts for others (too expensive to just get for myself ) and my favorite pastry is their snickers bar. Gosh, not much else to say because others have such a good job with their reviews. They're currently looking for a new location and I'm sad to see them leave their old spot on Williams.

JinJu is my favorite bakery of the year and we had already planned a visit over the weekend before the news ever hit. We drove on over on Sunday for one last hurrah. Oh my god the line. We got there a bit over 15 minutes before opening, figuring that things wouldn't be too bad, but by that time the line stretched down the block, around the corner, and almost to the alleyway. I counted 70 people in line ahead of us. By the time the bakery opened at 8AM, there were at least another 60+ people in line after us, marching further down all the way to Vancouver Ave. Insane line. We didn't reach the door until after 9AM and then it took another 10 minutes or so to get to the front of the line. Our total wait was 1.5 hours and it was still worth the effort in my opinion. By the time we got to the front, the Ham, Bacon & Gruyere and whatever was in the bottom left case (Almond?) were already out of stock. The Butter and Chocolate were both running low with perhaps 10 pieces left of each. While the operation is winding down, the quality is still as high as ever. We went with our old standbys - the Butter Croissant, Chocolate Croissant, Spinach Feta Tart, and Morning Bun, all just as good as I remembered. I'm not even going to describe them again since they were pretty much 100% identical to my first two visits (for those curious, refer to my previous review). Portland is really losing something special. I hope Jin and Q take a well deserved long vacation and then open another concept in the near future! PS: After our multiple visits, I was never able to obtain their Almond Croissant. That's definitely my white whale, never to be achieved at this point!

So I decided to pop in because my husband loves carrot cake and I heard their was the best in town. And being the week before Easter I had high hopes. I was sadly disappointed. I walked in the a very sparce bakery case. I gave them the benefit of the doubt since it was Monday afternoon and they may have been still baking for the week. They had some cookies and brownies and about 6 very small carrot cake muffins.small meaning the size you would bake at home, not the larger bakery style. They did look pretty cute but was shocked at the price. I paid over $9 for two small cupcakes, I thought, these better be amazing. I took them home, my husband gave an 'eh, not the best carrot cake I have ever had' review. I had to try for myself. There was no spice or really any other flavor , just straight up carrot. It was moist and he loved the frosting but that was it. I love to support a small business and don't mind paying a bit more if the product is good. But that was not the case. I will wait and try again, but from talking to a friend who used to frequent this shop , she agrees that the are not what they used to be .

The portions of everything are very generous. Sandwiches and avocado toast are definitely enough to share or take home for a second meal. We shared a lemon crepe which had what tasted like house made lemon curd inside of it. It was dusted with powdered sugar and created a delicious flavor. Crepe was perfectly prepared. I ordered the avocado toast which was twice the size of what I expected and could eat, so it made a very nice lunch later. The avocado is a spread as opposed to sliced; although I prefer sliced, this was actually pretty tasty. This also came with a fried egg on both of the pieces of toast and thinly sliced radishes, flat leaf parsley, sesame seed, and a generous amount of pickled red onion which I adore. The bread is a lovely European multigrain. Underneath the toast, I found a beautiful fresh green salad with a balsamic vinaigrette and tomatoes, and all in all this was the perfect dish. My dining companion chose the turkey sandwich, and this two was a very large sandwich. It looked really great and had a lot of turkey on it, so much that it looked like fresh turkey as opposed to a deli meat, but I'm really not sure. For some reason, she didn't especially care for her sandwich; may have been a little too much pesto on it for her likes, but I thought it looked wonderful and also came with a salad. I had a drip coffee, for which I was told I could get refills for free, and my companion had a latte. Both were very good. I would like to come back sometime and purchase some of their desserts as they all looked absolutely amazing.

When she finally decided to assist us, her attitude was condescending and rude. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that I felt racially profiled when I simply asked how much a slice of strawberry shortcake cost. After telling me the price, she immediately questioned whether I could afford it or if I still wanted it, which I found insulting and inappropriate. To make matters worse, the slice of cake was not worth the $9 price tag. Between the poor service, disrespectful treatment, and disappointing product, I have no intention of returning. There are plenty of bakeries that treat their customers with courtesy and respect--this is not one of them.

The Versaille, Tiramisu, and Marionberry cheesecake were all delish and absolutely worth trying. Service was a little hit-or-miss.
