I've been going to Lou's Blues primarily for the amazing 80's music - bands and DJ's - they have. Food is good. Service is good. Fun atmosphere! I don't live in FL... yet that is... but I typically spend 3 winter months a year renting a condo over the past 5 years, which always includes 3-4 nights a month at Lou's. I've been here twice and still don't have a bad thing to say. The staff are friendly and speedy when it comes to a refill or checkin in! The food has always been great too. I got the Caesar salad with shrimp and avocado and it's the first time a salad from somewhere has ever filled me, it was so so good. I've also tried their chicken tenders (some of the best I've had in a long time) and the beer cheese pretzel which fed 5 adults just fine one night! Customer service does not exist in this place- we stayed for one beer and left, our bartender was nice, but was gone a lot, so we were left without drinks, as none of the other bartenders cared to take care of us, not even making eye contact with us...there was also a long haired man with a reverse cap working the upstairs bar, he answers questions while walking away from you and if he cares to answer you in the first place, he just turns away and continues to talk with the other bar tenders. This place is horrible for customer service. 0 Stars if I could. The crowd is here to have a great time, the food I'm sure is ok, but avoid this disorganized and lackluster hole if you could- your money would be better spent elsewhere. Happy eating. read more

He is a trailblazer in the hospitality Industry in Brevard County. He created the original Dos Amigos, Moo's Soft Serve and of course the eponymous Lou's Blues. Lou saw an opportunity and purchased the Dragon Lady restaurant then bar that stood here for 40 years. He revamped and remodeled Lou's Blues into the hip, cool, edgy joint it is today. At this point you may be asking, "hey Big Boy why all of the accolades but still 2 Stars?" The answer is simple. If you want to come to a smartly designed bar with awesome bands this is 5 star all the way. We came on a Wednesday evening. The very awesome and talented Revered Billy Wirtz was playing the keyboard and laying down great tunes. We sat down and waited an agonizing 17 minutes to order a drink. The drinks were weak and sad. Compared to the cost I was floored. It was another 14 minutes before we could place a food order. I tried to ask the server some questions but she was having none of it. I ordered the grouper slider and avocado toast. Okay, my date ordered the avocado toast. My sliders were served a blanc with zero execution or technique. The fish was like rubber and unappetizing. I had one bite and spit it into my napkin. Not sure if this was an isolated incident or the laziness of the kitchen after 20 plus years of operating. If you come here for a positive vibe and great music this is the place. Just know the drinks are weak and the food I consumed was not good. Sadly, Big Boy says No!!! read more

My husband and I were visiting the area for our wedding anniversary. We decided to check this place out. Total dive bar vibes but on another level. The service was phenomenal- we sat at the bar inside upstairs and had 4 separate bartenders checking on us constantly (at least every 5-10 minutes) to see if we were doing okay. I was very impressed. I got the flatbread pizza, it did come out cold (which is why I'm giving a 4). My husband got the clams and the grouper tenders which were hot and he really enjoyed. There was karaoke till 9:30 and 99% of the singers had amazing voices. The band Perfect Tuesday started at 9:30 and did not disappoint. Overall great experience!!! read more

This is a fabulous little place right on the beach. It is typical dive/biker bar type place. Very quirky and fun. People of all ages enjoying themselves while having some decent food and cold beers. All of the food that we had was excellent and the service was above average. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We stopped in on a Monday night for dirty bingo. This was fun and a different experience. Some of the patrons were a little on the obnoxious side but some people and alcohol shouldn't mix. Will definitely go back when in the area. This is one of the first places I went to my first time in Melbourne. The view is awesome - regardless if it's raining or the sun is shining (I've experienced both), it's a wonderful place to enjoy ocean views and something to eat. Speaking of food...come here during their daily specials and you won't be disappointed! I personally love Sundays where you can get great deals on shrimp, crab legs and clams, but they pretty much have a special every day, so check the website and revel in the fact that you found a great deal on the Atlantic coast. First, I'd like to say, I LOVED this place. I visit Florida a few times a year and always go out of my way to make a stop for dinner. However I will never return. I also feel the need to mention that my friend and I that experienced such foul, terrible service, are traveling bartenders for the PGA tour, NFL, and major music festivals in North America, so we are the first to know and point out when restaurants and bars are severely lacking in the customer service department. We arrived around 6:30, and chose the upstairs deck to sit, so my children could watch the ocean while they ate. My kids were nothing less than angelic the entire time we were there, even though they were waiting for water refills the entire meal and very thirsty, they never complained once. Let me explain the no water refills a bit more. We asked for waters when we got the menu card to scan. Those were the only waters we received the entire time we were there, aside from the water refills our foul server got us after I went inside and asked the bartender for refills and to go boxes. The service was truly so terrible that I decided we would rather eat in the car than deal with the servers nasty attitudes. We watched as the two servers on the deck checked on everyone repeatedly and refilled drinks, while we got blatantly ignored. I'm not sure if it's because everyone else eating was mostly male, and maybe they just don't know how to talk to someone unless they're trying to sleep with them. When the server did come by to drop off our meals and then our to go boxes and checks, she made a point to put her sunglasses on. Which was odd since she made a point to take them off for other tables and was very friendly and personable to them. Wearing sunglasses at just our table really made her point of being a cold cunt, very clear. Basically the rudest, foulest, servers I've ever encountered. I would be more understanding it my kids had been acting up, or messy. Or if we had been rude first, I'm all about matching energies. However we were all very nice until it was clear that the wait staff was just not being kind at all. At one point my friend went downstairs to smoke a cigarette. I guess the servers and kitchen workers didn't know I could hear them as they talked crap on her directly below me. The audacity of the staff here is impeccable. I went from telling everyone about this great place to now I will tell everyone about the worst servers in the Melbourne area. Thanks for leaving a lasting impression ladies. Your nasty faces you made at my 10 and 4 year old will be remembered. I mean if children are asking us why the waitresses are glaring at them, you've got a problem. I hope management deals with this issue. You're losing business with these rude, childish girls are ruining your reputation. I hope they enjoyed the $0 tip. I've never in my life not tipped at least 30%. But if I have to go inside to ask for water, you don't deserve a penny from me. read more

We quickly changed the scenery and went upstairs to hear the next band who ended up a no show. Food was not bad although nearly half the items on the menu were not available. Went to Lou's with my wife last weekend for some blues music and drinks. The music was good but there were many problems. We parked in the back and a few bikers came up to our car and told us that our spot was taken and to look else where. After getting shooed away by other drunk bikers we finally parked at the Walmart across the street. First we sat downstairs at a table and order oysters on the half shell and beers. The was nice Once inside we tried to get to the bar and order but there was only one bartender working so after 3 or 4 songs we just went toward the dance floor to dance. As we approached the dance floor the owner asked us why we had not purchased a two drink minimum. We told him the bar was understaffed and he became very irate at us. We moved over to the side and just watched the band but he kept starring and pointing at us. Finally he came over to me and my wife and started pushing us to the bar. There were 2 drinks at the bar waiting and he forced us to pay $20 for these then asked us to leave before we even touched them! Bouncer came up to me and took a swing at me breaking my glasses and cutting my nose. We were dragged out of the bar and kicked. The owner seems to be a bully and hot head and we wonder how he can continue to stay in business threatening people? Later that night we became sick from the Oysters and had to go to the hospital. The BEST LOCATION, excellent food and friendly staff. Today we had the rib special and it was so good, my husband and I shared a 3rd order! It includes a 32oz beer and they offered to split it in 2 pints, sold! I had the salad a few weeks before and it had tons of avocado and a nice piece of Mahi...unexpected and delicious. This place is super laid back and the views of the ocean can't be beat. I saw the giant pretzel being served at another table and it looked amazing too. Something different, we had many servers, all share on making sure we were ok-loved that...never an empty glass on our table. Highly recommend! Lou's is the only show in town when it comes to funky blues joints, so it can't help but make me a fan. I agree that the beer selection is lame and the food lamer, but the parking lot is full of bikes, the place is full of semi-cuetips in leathers, the second floor deck has a great ocean view, which is hard to get locally, they get some great blues acts coming through, and watching the dancers from the balcony can be all the entertainment you can ask for on a Saturday night. BTW, not only was it a Chinese restaurant in a past life, but it also housed a clandestine bordello upstairs. Personally I can't get my head wrapped around the stuffed mannequin baloney and the place feels just a bit desperate, but in a town with limited options, Lou's Blues is welcome with open arms. read more

Lou's brings back fond memories of my "free" days out in LA cruising the freeways to Mt Wilson on my Norton Commando; a significant difference is that here the parking lot is packed with Harleys, but at least my Norton shared a common trait of two wheels. ;-) Decades have passed by and time continues to speed up. Last weekend I rode to Lou's on my bicycle (hey Harley people, it's still two wheels!), having years ago abandoned bikes and airplanes for university and family and children in that order. I left my bike standing against the back wooden rail, no need to lock at Lou's, then took the back stairs two at a time up to the deck in my Lycras to mix with the black leather clad and heavily accessoried biker crowd. Gray beards, however, have much in common so no one up there so much as blinked an eye or gave me the once over. Lou's is a really really friendly place with great beer prices ... $1.50 for a cold Yuengling ... how's that for terrific value? Add the relaxing view of the sea just meters away, pretty dang good bar food and blues on the juke box and one has it all right there. Is anything about Lou's lacking? OK, one minor point ... I prefer pints of draft beer and a greater selection. The owners of Lou's live in my neighbourhood and someday I will ask them to reconsider their policy of bottle beer only. Unfortunately, the building housing Lou's Blues started life as a Chinese restaurant (The Lucky Lady, if memory serves and it usually does not these days) I doubt whether the cost of installing a draft beer distribution system across two stories can be easily justified. One final comment. I do not know how to assign star ratings to a biker-oriented jazz and blues bar so I gave Lou's 5 stars just because I liked the place a lot and it's a 10 minute walk from where I live.
