Horrible customer service by Sue - If you value your time & want to be given respect as a paying customer - don't come here. I got my nails done here for a while by Sue. Anytime I had an issue with my nails (weird shape, uneven polish, etc) I couldn't mention it without her getting mad at me & defensive. She is rude & disrespectful to the paying customer. If you ask her to change something she has to make nasty remarks like "I will do it because you asked but if it comes out bad you will have to pay again for me to redo it" or "That doesn't look nice but I'll do it because you asked" Just unnecessary comments that aren't needed or respectful. The final straw was the other day when she forgot a step & my nails came out completely messed up. I brought it to her attention & she had the nerve to tell me "Go look at the camera to see that I didn't miss that" & "To not come back since I don't like it" I left there crying & couldn't believe that she can be so rude to people who are paying for a service. Needless to say, I will not be coming back & I will also be making it known that people should not come to this nail salon. They also never take appointments on time because they are constantly taking walk-ins. Even when you are the first appointment of the day, every employee is late & your appointment is not on time. It's truly a shame that I will never return to this establishment. I work and live super close by, but all the claims of Sue's blatant disrespect for customers, racism, and bad service are true. Because of its proximity to my job, I have sadly returned to this establishment on a few occasions and am constantly disappointed. I always get different prices from when I sit down to when I leave, when I said I was displeased with the "design" a tech put in my nails, (looked awful and clumpy) she expected me to pay more to fix it, she ridiculed me for the next 2 times I went in about the incident, and she even admitted it looked nothing like the picture I gave for reference. They also waxed my face on one occasion....PLEASE DO NOT GO FOR WAXING. I BROKE OUT FOR 2 WEEKS. And the tech broke skin on 2 areas of my face. And again, I was charged 20$+ then what the waxer told me it would be. Sue said "it was a mistake." As far as the racism goes, I've never been said anything racist, but I am Latina and she always has a Latina woman from the pedicure area do my manicure; never any of the Asians, despite me calling in for specific techs. If you have an appt for this place please be prepared to wait for hours anyways. Tried out this business, the first time I visited I had a 1pm appt. When I arrived, there was someone in the technician's car and I had to wait for over an hour. No apologies, explanation nothing. I had an awesome first-time experience here with Tracy. I think I may have finally found my "go to" salon for the Bloomfield area! I called on a Sunday afternoon to see if they could accommodate a gel manicure with extension and they were able to take me right away. Tracy was my technician, and I felt very comfortable with her the moment I sat down. She was a great listener and made sure she understood exactly what I wanted. She paid attention to my desired length, shape, color and look. I mentioned I wanted a very natural nail with some extended length and that was exactly what I got. Tracy is definitely thorough and detail-oriented. Not to mention, she was super pleasant and enjoyable to talk to. The salon also has ample parking in the lot (a true perk for the area), and was super tidy and clean! It was not crowded for a Sunday, but staff did seem limited for that day, so I would advise calling ahead before coming. They did have to tell some walk-ins to come back later since their chairs were filled at the time. I am looking forward to coming back here and trying out some of their other services in a few weeks! I'm usually hesitant about getting my nails done as they are very thin but Sue did an amazing job! I got gel polish and it was done very quickly. She didn't buff them too much, just enough to secure the polish. She also pushed back my cuticles and cut off the dead skin without pinching me at all! Something that one should expect from every nail salon, but not something which many deliver. I provided photos of my nails when I first got them done and two weeks later. I am very rough on my hands and there is only one very small chip and they are just now showing signs of cracking. I definitely recommend coming here as my gel manicure has lasted so long. My new go to place! I absolutely LOVE Sue! I'm very particular about my nail shape (even though they're just square but, you may or not be surprised, there are some technicians who don't even know how to do that basic shape). Sue really took her time and made sure all my nails looked the same - you would be astounded at how meticulous she is and it's something that I truly appreciate. She had no idea about my OCD about the shape but I didn't even have to tell her anything! She's very sweet, super hard working, and definitely takes time and pride in her work. You won't be disappointed! Oh BONUS - she actually did my cuticles. Not sure what you guys may have experienced in the past but, so far, whenever I get a fill in, the technician always uses the drill to take off my cuticles - she used the cuticle cutter and I actually have no hang nails! read more

Horrible! My daughter and I went for a pedicure and we were there for nearly 2 hours for 2 pedicures. We called ahead and they said they had availability for 2 pedicures, but when we arrived there was only one person available leaving me to wait 30 minutes. The person serving my daughter cut her cuticles to the quick and made her bleed. She also scrubbed way too aggressively. When it was finally my turn the person servicing me proceeded incredibly slowly and took much too long to just cut and file my nails. Another woman eventually took over to finish upa and paint my toes. On top of it all the a/c was broken and too many clients weren't wearing masks which made me feel unsafe in such a small, cramped setting. I won't be back to this salon. read more

So, I really wanted to give this place a chance... I happened to break a nail on a Sunday and they were open with decent reviews for dip manicure so off I go to Lotus. They told me to come right away and I did thinking that god for this place The girls who did my nails looked annoyed that she had to do them and rushed the whole time. She hit me with the machine at least every 10 minutes. The edges around my nail were not round, they were jagged and my nails were uneven and wavy. What iced the cake for me was when I called to get them done again because now I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that I came right before closing last time and this time should be better, they can't fit me in at 1:45. After finding and reading reviews on Yelp, I decided to book an appointment with Sue at Lotus Nail Spa for a full set (acrylic nails). As I walked in and noticed that the shop was very clean. Sue greeted me and I waited about 5 min as she was finishing with a client. When she was ready she called me over to the chair. I explained to her what shape I wanted and she went to work as she waited for me to pick a color. Let me also add that Sue is really patient because picking a color can be a long process for me . She let me take my sweet time to select a color. She is very precise and meticulous with her work, especially the shaping. The shaping on my nails was beautiful. I discovered it after a popular salon in Montclair wanted to charge me $20 to take off the existing powder mani I had on (what!!!). Lotus is right up the street, located in a small shopping center. Nancy and Sue were so friendly, and Nancy did an AMAZING job with my gel manicure and my eyebrows. So sweet, and really took her time. Mt nails looks great, and only $25 for a gel mani! Edit: it's been a little over a week from my appointment and my nails are starting to lift aka get caught when I run my fingers through my hair which is pretty annoying. Unimpressed by my nail tech, Chloe's, skill level. Although she was very kind, she wasn't very attentive. She would take personal calls and FaceTime sessions in the middle of a pedicure. I would've been understanding if it happened once but it happened multiple times. The pedicure came out nice but it's not worth the $25 for a very basic pedicure. She hardly exfoliated and gave me a 2 minute "massage." Now... my acrylic set...she rushed the tip application and didn't glue them on my natural nails properly/all. I had to re-glue them at home to seal the gap between my real nail and tip to avoid moisture getting trapped and risking a fungus. The acrylic was applied way too thick, I asked for a coffin shape and was not given that. Granted, I am extremely picky when it comes to the shape of my nails so I may be more critical than others regarding this. But not only were they not shaped correctly, all the nail lengths were different. Again these were issues I had to resolve at home on my own. Also be aware that their polishes may be mislabeled...I selected a gel color for my nails and the matching regular polish for my pedi. The color for my pedi was the color I was expecting however the manicure color was different... I wouldn't go back here. Nice people but they pretty much lied to my face about the cost of service. I called ahead of time to ask how much it was for gel color change (not manicure), and she replied with "$15" and for each design, it would be between "$3-$5". So, I was basically expecting to pay around $25, maybe $30 at most since I was looking for a gel color change and 2 designs on each ring finger. However, when it came time to pay, I was charged $40. WTF? I was also surprised that the woman doing my nails gave me a 2 second massage on each hand.. which I can only presume that they charged me a FULL gel manicure ($25), plus my 2 designs, plus the extra glitter on my other nails. If I was charged the full gel mani, I'd expect the full service of cuticle treatment and everything! And after coming home and really having a close look of my nails, the gel layer was put on very uneven and my nails are so THICK! It looks as if it was a poorly done acrylic! read more
