Was looking for a new nail shop and found this little gem via Yelp. The reviews convinced me to give them a shot and I'm so glad I did. The location was accessible right off the highway, I didn't have to do too much. I didn't have an appointment but they were gracious enough to take me. I waited about 10 mins and when Joi ( my new tech) was finished with her client she took me. First off, they are big on cleanliness. Don't sit in the mani chair without first washing your hands. Joi went straight to work on me. It was clear by her questions she took her craft and judging by her nails, I just knew her work was going to be exquisite. She took her time cleaning and trimming my cuticles. I needed to change my shape to oval and I love that she used a big/ thick Emory board to relapse instead of the machine. She worked with precision checking my fingers against each other constantly and checking in with me to ensure I was getting the look I desired. I appreciate that. After about 34 mins she was done. My nails were done and the work was of the highest quality. After I was done with my nails I waited for Sam to do my brows. She did good. Just a tiny bit too much taken off at the far ends. Overall, I'm super happy with the service. The salon was real peaceful the entire time and no issues. I parked right on the side of the shop for free and it was uneventful. they absolutely destroyed my nails- I had decent length, and asked for an almond shaped gel manicure. I asked to keep the length but shape it. The nail tech filed my nails down to stumps. they look like fat sausages or like a chronic nail biter's fingers. The cuticles look messy and raw, and the gel doesn't even start at the beginning of the nail bed. if I could rate negative stars, I would. I can't fathom how my manicure could possibly go his bad, and how this place has over 1 star. read more

Unfortunately the quality of service and costumer service has steadily gone down in the last three years. Hit or miss service depending on the nail tech. And I HATE when people say they can do something when they really can't especially when it comes to filing or cutting nails because you can't undo those mistakes. Came here just for a fill in and file down on an almond shape and left with crooked short pointy nails because the tech didn't know what she was doing. Cut me several times and was bleeding in two fingers. The next day woke up with inflamed nails and three more nails bleeding. For $75 dollars I'm so disappointed and now have to regrow my nails again. And to top it off the business' response was in order to refund my money, I need to prove that I or come back for a complete soak off of my nails, basically trying to take back the work they did. So not only did they give me a low quality service, they want to take the remainder of what nail I have left in order to get my own money back. Completely despicable. read more

I came in to have my pedicure done the day of my birthday and I must say I was so happy with the decor and vibe of this nail lounge. So cozy and chic. My pedicurist Dana was very gentle , kind, sweet and thorough with how she handled my feet and cleaned them to perfection! I love the cleanliness of this lounge and how nice the staff was. I was referred here by my regular nail tech because she was completely booked up...I seriously wanted to just sit in a corner...lol. However, I knew this place had to be legit b/c she wouldn't have sent me. I had a Wednesday appt with Dana but needed to switch it to the Saturday before b/c one nail was lifting a little to much and I saw the future tragedy happening. They were able to accommodate me for the Saturday before and I would be Dana's last appt. The salon has about 5-6 nail techs (if I'm remembering correctly) and they all seemed to be pretty friendly. My appt was for 6... we started at 6:05 which to me is on time when it comes to this type of service. I sat in Dana's section and the magic began. She was friendly, personable and funny. Then before you knew it the salon became the equivalent of a barbershop, with all staff and patrons discussing current events and pop culture. It was great! Oh... let me tell you the service I received..that's important. I got a hardgel fill in with ibd. So I basically met my 2nd nailtech who's amazeballs, got to hang out with some lovely sistas, support a black owned business, and gorgeous nails. I'll take that!! read more

Jessica took her time and did a fantastic job with an acrylic fill (plus some new tips) on the hands and a dry gel coat swap on the toes. I normally travel to New Jersey to get my nails done. Everywhere in NYC I've ever been hasn't given be great service for my money worst I've gotten lots of attitude for simply asking if one or two nails can be changed in this or that way. I hadn't done my nails for a long time, because I was tired of it traveling across the Hudson for decent service and allow NY nail techs to be rude. I finally had a bad day and wanted to get my nails done and I wanted it to be a Black woman owned business and sure enough I found one just blocks away from where I lived. I walked in without an appointment and they found time for me to get my nails done. Throughout the process I was asked if I liked it consistently which gave me a welcomed opportunity to ask for changes. The young lady that did my pedicure was very passionate with doing nails especially when she gave me her sound advice on the services l ask for, she suggested l didn't get acrylic on my toes due to a possible fungus. She made me feel comfortable and she did an awesome job cleansing and massaging my feet. One of my biggest pet peeves about getting a manicure would be rusty nail clips and unsanitary tools. This has singlehandedly kept me out of nail shops. As a child I would bite my nails and it's embarrassing to say that I would opt for my nails looking like they have been chewed off by a beaver than get a manicure. I am have traumatized and it would take a miracle to change my mind. A lotus is defined as a legendary plant whose fruit induces a dreamy forgetfulness and an unwillingness to depart. My experience here was nothing short of amazing. A friend told me about lotus lounge and before I permanently threw in the towel on nail shops I give here a shot. Upon entering was greeted by the owner, Dario. Her welcoming smile and Caribbean accent made me feel immediately at home. I choose the gel manicure. She listened to what I wanted, communicated about a few options and educated me about nails in the process. Her 23 years of experience definitely shows. I was most impressed when she took out a new packet of tools to use for my nails and not the same buffer and nail file for all the clients. The metal nail clips are sanitized in individual packets. I sent an email on 5/6 for a service I received on 4/30 with Adriana. Sadly it was not an enjoyable experience and I am disappointed with the way my nails look and how they are holding up. I came in for an acrylic fill in with gel polish and the service took 3 hours for the results to be subpar. I believe she was perhaps newer to the position but there is no reason why a manicure should take that long and not be perfect. After leaving the salon, I noticed my nails were uneven in shape and thickness, the polish was painted on very thick, and small bubbles on a few nails. A week later, the nails have already started to lift at the base and can tell they may snap off at any moment. I even had to buy nail glue to try and fix it myself. I would love to give the salon another chance but the lack of response does not give much hope. read more

I came back to remedy this situation and received $20 off my service. I did a gel manicure with designs and a repaint on my toes. My gel mani came out beautifully, and it was done by the owner Rosario who was really sweet and made conversation with me (I'm an introvert so talking to people is difficult for me). She took her time and gave me excellent nail service. It's been a week since I had my nails done, and my fingernails still look amazing! I've never gotten a gel manicure (or designs on my nails), but I am extremely happy with these results. Said they usually do great work, which I can believe from the good reviews here, and not sure why the chipping of the nails happened to me twice. Been coming here since they opened. They start you when your appt time is. They ask you what you like or want them to change while doing the service.This salon is always spotless from the seats, to the bathroom, to the pedicure soaking tub, to the glass doors. It always smells fresh and clean in here. They make sure they sanitize everything they use and use new files and tools on each client. The pedicures of phenomenal only thing I could complain about was the constant up charge in pricing. Gel pedicures went from $45 to $55 to $60. Granted I understand because people get amazing service here and DO NOT tip but a gel pedicure for $60 and tip on top? Sounds a bit crazy and I'm one to spend a pretty penny on my acrylic sets but it's way too much for someone who comes here every two weeks or monthly in my honest opinion. I had always wanted to support a black-owned nail salon and now was my opportunity, thanks to Groupon lol. I called at 3pm to book an appointment for a gel manicure and was told I could arrive at 5pm. I ended up arriving 30 minutes early and with no hesitation was introduced to my nail technician, Alicia. From the moment that I walked in, I was impressed. The lounge is beautiful and full of black beauties ready to pamper their customers from head to toe. I couldn't believe that I had walked past this business, and never even knew the oasis that was inside. As soon as you walk in there is this beautiful mural of a lotus on the wall behind the reception desk, to your right are the manicure and pedicure stations. Beautiful, blend of colors. It was quiet, background music playing softly in the background, with occasional conversation. I loved that there was a great selection of colors so I chose two (nude and diamonds) to bedazzle my nails without clashing with my daily attire. Alicia took her time (particularly with my cuticles), gave me some advice on nail care, and made sure that her work on my nails was flawless. I do not know what products she used, but my hands felt so smooth. The cherry on top was the rinse then the hot towel. Oooh! If all of this is just the manicure, I can't even imagine how a pedicure would feel. I was so comfortable that I was about to nap while she was painting my nails lol. I was home. Women empowering women is wonderful. It was phenomenal to see that this salon supported two young ladies honing in their skills as future nail technicians. GURL. The nail salon drought is OVAAAA. You never know what you're gonna get when you go to a place that does personal services (hair, nails, makeup, etc.) but this is two blocks away from me and I desperately needed a mani. I work in the service industry and it's actually a necessity, working with my hands and on my feet! SO glad I went! I was able to walk-in and get a gel mani and regular pedi (I went close to open). My nails are BOMB. I had a very professional and nice nail tech (Ayana) and we totally vibed with the direction my mani went. I worked one shift and can already tell these nails will last until my next visit. They do take debit cards. My entire visit took around 2.5 hours, but that's because I got nail art. It was $67 including tax, but pay cash and you'll save that money! I'd say it would be avg time (2 hours) for the services I received normally. I also found out that this a Black owned (like, Legit Black owned) business. PROPS. I have used other BOB services and been sorely disappointed before, but here I will def be back! I wanted to wait and leave a review until after I had the chance to provide constructive feedback directly to the owner, but after not being able to find an email address or catch her by phone in the shop, I feel that I have to speak up in honesty and transparency about my experience last weekend. The shop is BEAUTIFUL-- Very nicely decorated with new fixtures, a vibing speaker system, and is sparkling clean. All of the nails techs were friendly when I popped into to get my standard pedicure and fill with gel polish. I was amazed at the oasis on Rockaway Ave, and was initially excited to make this place my new shop since I just moved into the neighborhood last month. However, the actual skill sets of the nail techs are seriously lacking. The pedicure was fine, but the process in which my gel polish was removed and my acrylic applied was fumbled and haphazard. My nails were turning out to be jagged and clunky, and the second hour into what turned into almost THREE HOURS at the shop, I politely asked if the other nail tech would take over in my application. The second tech then apologized for my service, but also did a very poor application of gel polish. Eager to leave and already late for other plans, I paid, tipped, and left with my face red and and full of frustration. I later found out that my very own roommate had a similar experience just a few days earlier and also left in disappointment. And just a week later, my gel polish has already chipped. I truly think that this shop has the full potential to be very successful, however, the glitz and glam will quickly become insignificant if the workers cannot perform at a level of skill seen at the other bustling shops throughout the city. Ironically I have passed this nail salon multiple times but didn't actually try it until my friend recommended it. I've been on a run of trying different black owned nail salons and I think I finally found a home. Prior to me booking an appointment I DM'd their business page asking a question and got a response right away. I set up my appointment on their website and their was tons of availability. I didn't like that I had to pay for my services right away but I didn't see any other option not to do so. As soon as I arrived, there was social distancing happening with clients getting services at every other station. There was plexiglass between all clients and nail techs, and masks were worn. Although there wasn't any plexi glass at the pedicure bowls, all nail techs wore face shields. Before and after you sit down the nail techs spray and wipe down the area with disinfectant. I came in for a gel manicure and a classic pedicure. The gel manicure was actually a full manicure with gel polish which I'm not used to receiving. I asked for a design and got the cutest colorful marble swirl which is great for the summer time. The design was $10 extra but I didn't mind paying. Then came the pedicure which was also very enjoyable. My nail tech Candace was super sweet and caring and worked efficiently! I even accidentally smudged a pinky toe when I left out and Candace willingly fixed it for me. I highly recommend this nail salon, as not only is the environment safe and clean, but the service is amazing! And it's black owned specifically Caribbean owned! read more

Well well well. On the corner of Rockaway and Herkimer in Brooklyn sits a gem. I decided to go all out with everything new for me. Hard gel full set and a gel pedicure. My nail tech was Cheydel and she did such an awesome job! I mean such careful attention to detail that I've never gotten before at any other nail salon, recommendations for caring for my gel pedicure, and she treated my nals SO well. I've had my fair share of experiences that were not pleasant...I mean painful manicures too. Cheydel was the total opposite. God bless her hands. She even kept asking and checking in often on how I was doing, if something was too much oressure on my nail, even if my feet were ticklish. The moment I walked into this establishment I was greeted with smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. Even the materials used were from a fresh bag. It's nice, light, clean, and a good vibe. The price? I was really happy that I was able to walk-in and get a gel mani and gel pedi as I was not able to see my usual nail tech and needed my nails done before a trip I was taking that weekend. A young woman performed my services and did a satisfactory job. She was sweet, a bit chatty, but did not have any other options so I just went with it. I've had better manicures and pedicures but my hands and feet were presentable. One complaint is that she took a very long time to do these services-- got started around 11:20am and didn't finish until a little past 2pm--2 hours and 40 minutes. That is excessive to me as I've never spent beyond 2 hours getting a gel mani and gel pedi. Another complaint is that it's been 16 days since getting my nails done and the gel polish is lifting from 3 of my nails. I have been getting gel polish for a few months and this has never been my experience before. The gel polish typically stays adhered for the 4 weeks that I wear it before the next appointment. I have had to use crazy glue to glue the lifted polish areas down. I'm not rough on my nails; I don't pick at things, use gloves when cleaning and doing dishes, and I don't work in a capacity that involves my nails being physically compromised. I'm not sure if it's the brand of polish or the technique used but I'm really disappointed that this is happening. You are also able to describe what you want and they know exactly what it is; AND GET IT DONE! If I can give this place a zero I would. I called and was told to come in for repair, but was called on the appointment day and told the appointment would need to be rescheduled.
