That's more expensive than some places in the city! So decided to give Charming Nails a try, even with the 3/5 rating and I'm so happy that I did. I'm honestly shocked by how low the rating is given my experience here. Yes, it is a no frills nail salon but the prices match ($43 total for a gel manicure that was done impeccably and a just as perfect regular pedicure). The space is clean, sanitized, everyone is wearing masks, and very friendly/cordial. I am a perfectionist when it comes to manicures and my nail technician (Erika) did a perfect job. I have zero complaints- she took her time, was really careful and detail oriented and my manicure/pedicure couldn't be better. The place was almost completely full for a Friday afternoon and my personal experience is that I did not see them treat any one customer differently than the next. Everyone was also busy with their own customer, so I did see some people enter and not immediately get a boisterous hello. But it was not a malicious ignoring of guests! I think if everyone is busy, you just need to talk to the owner (Asian guy in the front) who will assign the next available tech to you. I assumed it would be cleaned up with nail polish remover at the end, but instead they asked for my credit card as if the service was complete. I complained to the manager, and to his credit, he agreed that it wasn't acceptable and redid the manicure. Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. The entire time he was redoing my nails, he had a terrible attitude. At one point I paused for about 30 seconds to send a text letting someone know I'd be late to my next commitment because I had to get two manicures instead of one due to the original poor work. The manager actually raised his voice at me, saying I was wasting his time, that he had other customers, and that I was being disrespectful. To make matters worse, while working on my nails he cut my cuticle badly enough that it bled. When I instinctively pulled my hand away because it hurt, he accused me of having "a lot of attitude." I understand that mistakes happen, and I appreciated that the manager was willing to redo the manicure. However, there is no excuse for speaking to a customer that way or treating them so disrespectfully after the salon had already acknowledged the original manicure was unacceptable. This was, without question, the worst nail salon experience I've ever had. I will never return, and I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone.

I selected a color from that set, but when she went to the wall and came back, she brought two completely different colors. When I explained that those weren't the colors I had chosen, my concern was ignored. Another employee spoke to her about it, and there seemed to be some tension between them. The coworker then told me those were the only regular polish colors available, which would have been completely fine if that had simply been explained from the beginning instead of applying a different color without clarification. Additionally, moisturizer was not applied at the end of the manicure, which is usually a standard part of the basic process. When it was time for my feet to dry, I was not notified about their status and another staff member had to come over and double-check. My polish was still wet, and the service overall did not feel very efficient. When the coworker mentioned something to her about it, she appeared frustrated or upset. The online reservation process was quick and easy. Upon arrival I was greeted by the receptionist. The decor is chic and stylish. Very reminiscent of one of the nails salons you see in a movie. While getting my nails done, I received complimentary glasses of champagne. The person who did my fill-in was very sweet. Please note that they only accept cash tips. Overall, a great experience.
