This place was pretty expensive but we ate good and were all stuffed! We had a table of 9 and the food came out relatively fast. The server was very polite. The calamari was really good along with a shrimp appetizer. We ate family style and that was the best decision. We ate shrimp fried rice, lobster fried rice and chicken fried rice, all of which were pretty good. We also ordered the Peking duck, Mongolian beef, lamb chops and lo mein, oh we also ordered shrimp pad Thai. We actually ended up sending that back because it was dry, and tasted like pasta with ketchup almost. They swapped it out without question for another Mongolian beef. Our bill came out to $444.44 for 4 adults and 5 kids. Family style is definitely the way to go here. The Peking duck and Mongolian beef were my favorites. We stayed in Kartrite and when my family was asking to have a nice dinner and don't like the food in Kartrite my wife looked up the internet and we ended here. This is our first time to be here by the way. The ambiance has asian feel and that is what we expect. We were greeted by an asian waitress and we told her the food we would like to have. She was attentive and after 5 minutes the waiter gave us the water for the kids and the adult's green tea and seltzer. After another coulple of minutes he got back with our soup and maybe a good 10 minutes later the waiter has the rest of the food and set it on our table. The Lotus wonton soup is a bit salty but so good. The lo mein is a bit upscale compared to other chinese restaurant we have went to. It has a lot of onions but my son and daughter loved it... after setting aside the onions. The salt and pepper pork chop is good and I love the balance and enough crispiness of it. The Crystal Shrimp is good and together with the walnut it add some fanciness to it. So overall the food taste is good and the staffs are good as well. I already expected their price is a bit higher considering they are located in a casino. One thing is that when I got the bill I noticed that the geatuity was automatically added but when I got the final receipt for me to sign I noticed another gratuity line appeared again. What a disappointment! We got take-out from Lotus today. It took almost 10 minutes standing at the bar (takeout area), asking for help, before the bartender could tear himself away from the woman that he was flirting with. We ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Shrimp Lo Mein, Seafood e-fu noodle, and vegetable spring rolls. We had totaled the charge in our head and we were really surprised when we were told that it was $18 more than our total. OK, we thought our math was off. Nope-- it was the automatic 20% gratuity that was added, which the bartender/order taker didn't bother to mention. This brought our bill to $110. The food was EXTREMELY bland. Not one bit of flavor and the 3 main dishes tasted and looked exactly the same! We've eaten at Lotus before and the food was incredible. I don't know if the takeout food is somehow different, or if the chef is different, but whatever it is, based on tonight's meal we have no plans to go back (as if the rude bartender wasn't enough to turn us off completely). I would NOT recommend Lotus. Go to the "diner" just across the hall for a much better meal (and without the automatic 20% tip). read more

My husband and I were going to order while sitting at the bar. We ordered our drinks first while still looking at the menu. The bartender went to put something down, and accidentally knocked a glass on the floor. Instead of picking up the glass and placing it in the area to be washed. This was supposed to be the highlight of my day in the casino but it ends up it was just a poor choice. I ordered quite a bit as I usually do to sample the menu so today I ordered the wonton soup, crab meat soup, chicken pad thai and braised scallops. The soup came out in a 'bowl' the size of coffee cup, I was like oh brother but then I tasted it and I was like Wow... the wontons were very good! It had scallops and all the regular items from there. I was impressed. That goes for the crab meat soup too.... but it was short lived. My Pad Thai sucked. It was bland and dead. The chicken was done cooking probably yesterday. I threw some hot chili sauce on it to give it CPR but it still flatlined... the braised scallops were good though overcooked... and the sauce was overdone.... as in not fresh. A very disappointing time and just over $100 wasted. BTW.... when you add a 20% gratuity for me when it's just me and not some huge group or special gathering, you lose my business FOREVER. For them to advertise as an upscale fine dining experience is a total lie. Yes the ambience is nice but the tables are on top of each other. This was the worst experience I've ever had. We had reservations for 7:30 we come at 7:30 the hostess says they're clearing up the table will be ready in just a moment. Well 30 minutes later we're still waiting and we've asked the hostess a few times what's going on and she just had a nasty attitude and said they're still getting it ready. We finally get seated and have to wait another 20 minutes just to get some water, how ridiculous !!! To get someone's attention for something is non existent and the service is non existent. For appetizers we got the wonton soup and the garlic ribs, it was a complete disaster. The garlic ribs had absolutely no meat on it it was all fried breading and just fat, absolutely not appetizing we asked them to take it back and they gave us a problem about taking it back. The wonton soup had a weird taste to it and did not even look or taste like wonton soup. For entrée we ordered the orange chicken, pad Thai, and chicken lomein. I asked if instead of white rice I can substitute it for fried rice and I will pay for the extra and they said no you will have to get the entree fried rice which was $20..... whatever I'm good no thank you. The orange chicken came out cold, the lomein chicken was so rubbery it was not edible. The pad Thai was okay nothing special. The portions are big but the food overall was absolutely disgusting and extremely overpriced. I will never come back here again what a waste !!! I went to the casino with my family for the first time yesterday and was in the mood for some authentic Chinese food. I looked at the menu and saw it was on the pricier side and wanted to give it a try. The interior is gorgeous - dim, dark and red. Very high end looking and just overall great ambiance. We were sat down at a round table that was private and comfortable. Our server was a sweet woman that was friendly and provided prompt service. We ordered the lobster egg roll appetizer, pan fried noodles with seafood and crispy honey walnut cream prawns. The appetizer was delicious- lots of fresh shucked lobster and sautéed cabbage fried to a perfect, non greasy crisp. It was served with a sweet duck sauce. I also asked for some hot sauce which was sriracha brand sambal chili garlic seed paste - spicy and delicious! The pan fried noodles with seafood was incredible! It came with fresh steamed Chinese broccoli, lots of cuttlefish, shrimp, scallops, and flounder over a bed of crispy egg noodles and white sauce. The seasoning was so on point - not too salty and very rich and savory tasting. The seafood was unbelievably fresh. So tender and perfectly cooked. The crispy honey walnut prawn was delicious as well. The shrimp was fried to a crispy shell and enveloped in a creamy, sweet mayo based sauce and served with steamed broccoli and glazed honey walnuts. I wish I got dessert but I was too full! read more

For Chinese food no better than what you can get at a corner hole in the wall, this place is ridiculously over priced. The food was good but not great. Paying $12 for a bowl of wonton soup is robbery. The bowl is smaller than I've ever seen with barely any broth. $12 at the hole in the wall would get you a quart and more of better tasting soup. This was tiny. Chicken lo mein was ok but more than a token couple of pieces of chicken would have been nice. If you're at this resort craving Chinese, try to pick some up in town and get a better meal for a tiny price in comparison. Play the slots. This restaurant is off the charts wonderful. If you want to taste real Chinese food, not Americanized food, this is the place to go. This is true Chinese fine dining at its best. The menu is split into two sides, one side is more Americanized, but again, it is not what you will get at a typical American Chinese restaurant. I have to give five stars to the flavors and authenticity of this restaurant. I also want to give a special shout out to Matthew who explained the menu in great detail to us and was very helpful in making our choices. We went last night and we are coming back again today. This restaurant should be out of business immediately if they don't change their chef. Please don't waste your money and time on overpriced garbage. It's Chinese New Year today, so my husband and I made reservation for both today and tomorrow to eat dinner here at Lotus - a Chinese restaurant. I wish i had the so many bad reviews here to better inform my decision. After spending $118, we both were thoroughly disappointed and decided to cancel tomorrow's reservation immediate. The tiny bowl of Wonton soup is $13 now and it turned out to be the only dish that's actually worth the money a little bit. For the main courses, we ordered Fried Mapo Tofu, Sichuan Pepper Beef (steak), and baby Bai Choy. They came up to the table all at once, but didn't even smell good. Tofu is a bit sweet instead of spicy and flavorful, beef is cooked more like a Fast Food Chinese chain store take out, with big chunks of green pepper, big slices of onion which took big part of the bowl and left little space for beef. Even with the meager amount of beef, their cut is uneven and mostly thick and chewy. Bai Choy was OK. The waitress was very good though, and was apologetic when she saw that we didn't like the food at all. What's more nightmare is talking to the Chef. The GM said she's from Taiwan. She came out asking us what's wrong. While my husband and I started explaining, she kept interrupting us and repeated loudly, "what's wrong? what's wrong? How can I improve if you don't tell me what's wrong?" We stopped the conversation right there. We didn't appreciate her argumentative tone. She walked away immediately without any apology. Happy Chinese New Year. Three dishes and one soup, plus 2 Qingdao Beers, altogether $100. We saw the bill was $118, wow - it's because they already put in 18% gratuity without even informing or asking the customers. Please beware and remember to read your bill carefully. We left most of the food on the table, not interested boxing it and taking it away. and we immediately cancelled tomorrow's reservation. The atmosphere was enjoyable which gave me high hopes but when looking at the food options, I was not warned that certain options were not available. I then struggled finding something that met my dietary needs. When I wanted a compensation because the option I chose was only chicken and vegetable they made my experience stressful. I'm really rooting for the casino to succeed, but the restaurants still have kinks to work out, even after a year+ of being open. I've had multiple problems at two of their restaurants in recent months, most recently yesterday at Lotus, their Chinese food restaurant. We were seated at the bar for dinner right away, since we didn't have a reservation (we thought we got lucky!). But alas the food took over a half hour to arrive, and then everything came at once, including appetizers (some of which was cold, even though it was supposed to be hot). We were lucky - our food eventually arrived - but the people seated next to us were not so fortunate. After waiting and waiting, the bartender told them there was a glitch with the computer system and their order never made it to the kitchen. Very bush league. Surely they can do better. The success of this project is too important for the region, hence my negative review with the hope that management will fix things. They seemed understaffed, so perhaps that's why they still have so many kinks. That said, the staff seemed to work well together. Here's hoping for a better experience next time, if there is a next time. As for the food, it's ok but nothing special. It served a purpose - I wasn't hungry after eating there - but if you're looking for a really good meal, this isn't the place. We seated quickly and asked for drinks quick too . We ordered our apps which were delicious, except our dumplings were ice cold.. we sent them back . We weren't even finished with our apps and the main course came out , we had to ask for new plates, and 1 dish was missing ... Than dumplings came out , still other dish missing. We had to ask where it was , the server should have knw we didn't recv.. about 5 mins later she returned said they working on it ... We spent two days at Resorts World Catskill and thank goodness we decided to eat the 2nd day at Lotus. Very comfortable, friendly and service was excellent. The drink and food was delicious and we even came away with leftovers for another dinner. I cannot fathom what could have been going on the days anyone posted a negative review. We both ordered the Korean Short Ribs and were extremely disappointed. The meat was tough and chewy and most of it was not edible. We notified our waiter and asked him to let the chef and manager know. He went to the back and when he returned he apologized and didn't offer to bring us something else.
