This was my first time here. My wife had been before with her friends and told me about it, so we finally decided to go together. We sat over in the corner when you first walk in. It's a nice little spot and was pretty crowded, which is always a good sign. The servers were attentive, and we didn't have any issues with the service. We started with the spicy kani salad. It was good, but I felt like it could've used a little more spicy kani sauce, so we asked for some extra on the side. After that, it was amazing. The shrimp tempura was really good, and we also ordered a sushi platter. This was actually my first time having sushi served like that and trying that many different pieces at once. We went in tonight hoping for a nice dinner and somehow managed to experience just about every example of poor service along the way. Our food came out cold. The waitress never once asked how our food was, never asked if we wanted another beverage, never asked if we wanted dessert, and when we asked for additional sauce, she acted as though we were inconveniencing her. As soon as it appeared we were finished, our plates were taken away and the check was essentially tossed onto the table. We didn't make a single complaint during the meal. Normally, I'll simply eat the bad meal, pay the bill, and make the decision to never return. No scene, no argument, no bad review. But then came the part that really surprised us. We paid our bill by card, but planned on leaving the server a cash tip, which is something I personally prefer to do because I like knowing the server receives their tip directly. Apparently, because there was no tip written on the credit card receipt, the waitress came back to our table and loudly said, "You didn't tip." In a restaurant full of people, being publicly called out about a tip was incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassing. And the irony is that we had not complained once about the cold food, the service, or anything else. Needless to say, there won't be a next time. On top of the experience, the restaurant itself felt dirty and run down, and there was a noticeable odor. The two fish tanks--without fish and apparently without much attention either--certainly didn't help. They looked and smelled like they had been forgotten about a long time ago. Maybe the food and service are better on another night, but based on our experience tonight, we won't be finding out. Sometimes the best way to lose a customer isn't one big mistake. I came here to celebrate my niece's graduation and it was great. We ordered a couple of different things and everything was very fresh and flavorful. I would definitely recommend this place, we had the love boat which was a great portion for us two. My friend had other items off the menu like the hibachi which was also good and a generous portion. Looking to see what Middletown had to offer for sushi I decided to give Mr Sushi & Grill a try for some dinner. Walking inside I was greeted by spacious dining layout and lively environment. I got a seat at the sushi bar and ordered the Sashimi Dinner and a Hot Green Tea. The Sashimi Dinner came with a Miso soup and House Salad which was nice but were both pretty disappointing. Unfortunately the Sashimi dinner was quite a disappointment as well. Very soggy, soft, falling apart texture from lack of freshness in the all of the fish, not to mention the flavor. I also have to add this was one of the gamiest tasting, smelling & textural salmon sashimi I have been served. I had a negative experience at a restaurant regarding their tipping policy. The bill reflects only what I paid for the meal. I believe that customers should have the freedom to decide if a tip is deserved and how much to give, rather than having that decision influenced by the restaurant. This feels like an abuse of power and a deceptive practice by the restaurant owner. Because of this experience, I have decided not to return to this establishment. The standard vegetables for hibachi were sparse and the server definitely did not know how to parcel out the food equally. All the standard tricks and amusements for hibachi seemed to fall flat (the steam engine onion/ saki squirting out the bottle and catapulting zucchini ). Not on the list of places we have to return. The manager came out and greeted every party except ours and the server had to be asked to bring the bill after not checking in with us in approximately 15 minutes. Me and my husband were at the bar the other night and had cocktails and sushi. I left to go home to feed our dogs. My husband stayed and wanted hibachi and when he asked to be moved to a hibachi table he was denied "because he was a single party" and didn't have anyone else with him. This is ABSOLUTLY unacceptable, they cannot refuse to serve 1 person for Hibachi. He was told that it is "policy" but it is not stated anywhere on the menu or posted on the door as a "policy". Today I had dinner at hibachi, the female server was completely inattentive and on her phone the entire time. Had to wave to get her attention for everything. My wife and I enjoyed a nice lunch at Mr. Sushi and grill. I enjoyed two tempura shrimp rolls, a Salmon roll, a miso soup and side salid. My wife had an unsalted edemami starter and a lunch of vegetable tempura, Ton katse with pork and white rice. We found the food to be fresh and quite good. Our Miso soup was too salty for my wife, but it was fine for me. Our server was a bit lacking. She placed one fork for my wife and not for me. Went here at the suggestion of a friend who'd been here and liked it. Went on a Tuesday night at 6:30 and immediately got seated at a Hibachi table. There was another family of three people at our table and they were a lot of fun to talk to which made our meal more enjoyable. Didn't have to wait too long for our chef to come and prepare our meal - unfortunately I had a hard time understanding him when he asked me questions but luckily my hubby repeated to me what he said. Our food was fresh and delicious and it was a great value for the money. I only give it four stars because I didn't like the fact that they had crates or buckets with dirty dishes and garbage-filled bags against the wall not too far from the hibachi grill and they gave off a bad smell to me. Also the tables that the dirty dishes were sitting on smelled unpleasant to me also. I am just sensitive to strong odors and would have preferred not to see them or smell them. He was very nice. I got the Vegetable Udon (8/10), very very good. I also got the Japanese fried rice which was fire too (8/10). I also got this broccoli sushi which was literally exactly what you would expect. A piece of broccoli in sushi. For this reason, it gets a 7/10 because there was no wow factor. Vegetable gyozas were mid (6/10). Miso was standard miso (6/10). Portion sizes were big. The ambiance is cute and there is nice lighting. They are also open pretty late compared to the nearby options, so that's a plus. TLDR: All the food at Mr Sushi and Grill is literally exactly what you would expect for a Japanese hibatchi place. The fried rice tasted like fried rice. Udon tasted like udon. Sushi tasted like sushi. The only disappointment was not being able to meet Mr. Sushi. read more

We ordered the Middletown roll, dream roll, Christmas roll. Middletown town roll was very good. Dream roll was not something I would have chosen but it's a favorite of my BFF. Glad she convinced me to try it.? Boy that fresh shaving of lemon adds a different and interesting flavor to this roll! Lastly, The Christmas roll sounds good, but it was very bland and disappointing. My friend also raves about their Hibachi at this establishment. Give this place a second chance after a really lackluster first visit a while ago. Service this time was a lot better, my server was much nicer and patient when waiting on my order, plus asked if I had any allergies. I felt like he was very attentive asking how was my meal and moving fast to bring my food to my table. As for the food, I loved spicy tuna martini, not only is super unique but very delicious. Actually spicy lump of tuna, on top of crunchy spiraled carrot with tempura crab legs. Honestly well worth the price. The dream roll & shrimp tempura roll, both were delicious and not skimpy on filling, but let me tell you thin sliced lemon on sushi is awesome, like a good balance of salty and bitter.
