We stopped in for take out one afternoon. It was very busy with constant calls and people coming in to order. Still, they had our large order ready in less than 20 minutes. The employee who took our order was very friendly and patient as we perused the menu. The inside of the restaurant was clean and casual, what you expect from a typical Chinese American take away restaurant. The food itself was pretty good. We ordered a variety of soups and appetizers. New to area...Food was great... I had read a few posts about the rice being different...I found it very delicious. The Chinese takeout is wonderful! I used to go to another local place but the wait was always so long. The food is great for take! They do have some seats but I think that's better for a lunch break during work. The family that own and operates the place are extremely friendly. Their son is a hoot to chat with. He is like 12 but very precocious and intelligent. Try and stun him with a random items price. He prides himself on trying to memorize the prices! Every time I call I never wait more than 10-15 minutes and mostly 10 if it's not prime time. Great food good prices as today's prices for supplies are crazy. This place is my local go to for great Chinese food to take home and enjoy. General Tso' chicken special w/ light spice was prepared w/ no spice whatsoever, old stale "crunchy" rice and generally not good at all. Steamed dumplings that were rubbery and very bland. BBQ spare rib special w/ dried out ribs and more of the old stale "crunchy" rice. Wonton egg drop soup w/out scallions and pork as ordered. The worst Chinese food we have ever eaten. Haven't been there in years and now I know why. Fried wontons were burnt and dry. The steamed dumplings were more like very heavy, doughy pirogies. Gross really just gross. Ordered a hot and sour soup. It was tasteless. It had not even a handful of pieces of tofu in it and the ginger was rotted. It tasted disgusting. It was slimy. Ordered Bayne which was again tasteless. With nasty brown vegetables. All one color, not one bit of flavor and the prices my God, they have doubled their prices last year this time the same dish cost $6.95 now it is $12.95 are you kidding really man is it not worth the price? First time at this spot. Came up here since we were hungry and around the area. Ordered chicken lo Mein, fried chicken wings, And Singapore noodles. Best thing by far was the chicken wings. Not sure how i feel about the rest of the food. It wasn't bad but something seemed off about it. The chicken in the lo mein tasted a bit funny (not sure if it was just flavorless) and the Singapore noodles don't taste like how we grew up on the "hood". They also took a long time to have the food ready. Took about 20 mins and we saw about 8/10 other guests come order and go. That was a bit upsetting. We sat and ate at the spot. We've been taking food out from China City for many years. Took in tonight. Ordered boneless spare ribs combination plate. What I got was nothing like spare ribs. Shredded, dried out pieces of pork. Supposed to come with roast pork fried rice. It was plain dried out brown rice. Didn't even resemble fried rice. Tried them for the first time today. Won't be eating here again. Egg drop soup was a mass of cornstarch, egg and hot water. I got the boneless chicken which ended up being the tasteless chicken. Shrimp roll was not fried at the correct temperature and resulted in an oily soggy mess. read more

If you are looking for Chinese foods in Monticello i guarantee you will not find better than this place. We went on a Sunday around 4 and they were surprisingly busy, but now we understand why. It may look like any other Chinese takeout, but the food is not. The food here is as good or better than most sit-down restaurants. Fresh ingredients and always cooked perfectly. I took a very picky foodie friend here and even she thought it was excellent. Possibly the best menu item: Singapore mei fun. Easily the best version of this dish I've ever had. Only reason I give them 4 instead of 5 stars - it looks like any other Chinese takeout. But that's part of the charm! read more
