This is evident from the name Lucy -- the 3 million year old hominid discovered in Ethiopia and sometimes referred to as "the mother of us all", the understated murals, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful baristas, and of course the curated and highly enjoyable set of coffee beverages. My favorite is the macchiato, but every drink is an adventure of taste, aroma and texture that reflects refined coffee craftsmanship. The coffee is complemented by a delicious assortment of Ethiopian food and desserts, and a welcoming community. Lucy must be experienced to be truly appreciated. Once you do, you will recognize that Lucy feels like home -- on the first and every visit.

Like other reviewers I heard about the Sonoma Chicken Panini. What I as a man who rarely shops at Whole Foods didn't key in on is that Sonoma chicken literally refers to chicken salad. Bright colors, lots of light, strong coffee and ample seating for chatting or working, I really couldn't ask for more! Staff is super friendly and multiple people greeted me. Their seasonal flavors looked tempting and I got a yuzu coffee latte to sip on while I worked. Lots of outlets to charge and options for seats....couch, tables, folding tables and seats outside. I'm usually a dark roast kind of gal but found the medium roast highlighted in my latte top notch. So much so I almost ordered a second one. They close at 3pm every day so I had to cut my visit short but they weren't pushy about kicking people out. Absolutely adding this to my great to work from coffee shop!

My son totally surprised me by introducing me to this wonderful restaurant!…read moreThe food was amazing. I played it safe, so I went with the pancakes, which my son had ordered . The staff were so friendly, they were kind enough to swap out the pork in the dish for potatoes, which made it all work perfectly. After we finished ordering, the restaurant got really busy. To make the most of our time, we headed out to the patio to soak up the sun. Every bite was a treat, with so much on my plate, I even had some leftovers to enjoy later. Having a delicious breakfast with great company made for an unforgettable dining experience.

The French Press does not…read more Let's start with the gravy; it should be thick and creamy, well seasoned, with a fair amount of sausage. Total fail. The gravy was watery and separated with very little flavor. The biscuits should be warm and fluffy, preferably scratch made. Another fail. The biscuits were obviously not fresh and had been cut in half and mashed onto the flat top removing any fluff they may have had and making them tough. On a more positive note: The eggs were perfectly cooked.

I've never had a mochi doughnut before so it was really fun to taste the flavor and texture! I will definitely grab another one or even try a different flavor. The strawberry banana smoothie was the perfect cold beverage on a hot day. The size was great too, just enough to sip on and chat with a friend and a little extra for the drive home. The cashier was also very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I will definitely go back.

The ube latte was perfectly sweet with a strong ube flavor. The crème brûlée cruffin had a top that was so crispy from the toasted sugar that I couldn't cut into it, and the bottom was just stuffed full of cream. It was super messy to eat and impossible to share- next time I am getting my own. We also had the pandan coconut cupcake, which was good but not as exciting as the cruffin. The pandan and coconut were both equally strong flavors- I liked it better than my husband did. The Thai tea cake in a cup was also excellent, but outshone by the cruffin. They were out of a few other things we wanted to try by 11am on a Saturday, so get there early if you want something specific. The gentleman running the counter was very friendly and efficient, even when they were busy. Seriously, get the crème brûlée cruffin. I know I will be back for it.

My girlfriend was taking a class nearly across the street, so I thought I'd check it out. I was disappointed that they've apparently stopped making crêpe cakes as that was a favorite. There were none in the case and they're no longer mentioned on the Web site. Alas. However, there were lots of interesting items on display. I selected a Strawberry Croissant, a Chocolate Cupcake, and one of the cake cups: Ube Tres Leches Milk Cake. I'd never seen anything like that last item before. The strawberry croissant is filled with fresh strawberries and vanilla cream. I was worried that it might be soggy, but it was crispy, flaky and very tasty. The frosting on the cupcake was chocolate-flavored chantilly cream. This was heavenly. Absolutely perfect. I never contemplated ube plus tres leches. There is a traditional Vietnamese version (ha, you Latin purists!) that uses the flavors of Vietnamese iced coffee, but ube is a new approach. The number of different cultures involved here is making my head spin, but the result was delightful, of course. A mini cake in a paper ice cream cup is also a great idea. More substantial and easier to eat than a cupcake, but still a good snack for one person. Service was prompt, friendly, and helpful. The business faces Colfax Avenue. There's street parking plus a large, free parking lot behind the building. There are a number of tables if you can't wait to get your purchases home and a variety of drinks including Vietnamese coffee, a full espresso bar, tea, and lemonade. Bánh mi and other breakfast and lunch sandwiches are available plus rice bowls. I really enjoyed my purchases. Downtown Aurora is a bit of a drive for me, but I definitely need to make the trip more often.
