After a disappointing experience at Liquor Lounge, I walked down a couple blocks to Lost Weekend, and it was like a different world. It is amazing that if you just walk in a couple blocks from Ocean Dr. or Collins, the atmosphere of a bar can change. I found LW on Yelp search for "dive bars" and was not disappointed at all. The bartender was very friendly and welcoming...HH pitchers of Blue Moon were only $13 (domestics $8)! It has a homey atmosphere with plenty of pool tables and a GREAT classic rock soundtrack that doesn't feel so much like South Beach as it does Anytown, USA. They even allow indoor smoking and had an ancient cigarette vending machine on premises. Although I didn't eat there, the sights and aromas emanating from the kitchen were that of decent bar food. I've been going here ever since I moved to Miami back in 2010. Pool tables and tournaments, good music and DJs on Wed, ladies night. I believe the non locals are the only ones who had an issue with this place or you're a local who got caught using or selling drugs or you just can't don't won't behave like you got some sense... We had a very unpleasant encounter with an employee recently on a Wednesday "Ladies Night". My boyfriend was HOLDING my drink, a red solo cup, and this individual came over and YELLED furiously that this beverage was ONLY FOR WOMEN and HOW DARE HE DRINK MY CUP and if he did it again "I WILL KICK YOU OUT". He then proceeded to knock the drink out of my boyfriends hand and throw it. Very aggressive and violent encounter. I will never go back to this bar again, and I'm embarassed for this person and the general reputation of the bar. Pathetic. I'm unsure of his name position but he was a short, dreadlocked man who clearly worked at the bar. read more

I really enjoyed this place. The ONLY reason it didn't get 5 stars is because i wish it had more tables and chairs. We ordered the P.O.'boy shrimp sandwich and the Philly cheesesteak. I love this place. It's a gem as a local bar. The barista is great at his job. I absolutely adore him and he's great at just making up random drinks as we asked for 4 random sweet drinks :) we are very satisfied with his work. This place is so smoke-filled that I have to remember to take a shower before I get into bed, or I will be washing all of my bedding the next day. But that's not what prompted the one star rating... I went for ladies night and got my 6 drink tickets with no problem, but when I (yes, bad behavior) let a BOY drink from my cup then I was promptly kicked out of the bar?!? Not spoken to and asked not to do that with the respect due a customer but actually walked out by security?!? I've since spoken to friends and this has become their standard practice... so this is a bar that knows their ladies night promo doesn't really work as intended and their solution is to confront their customers and kick them out. It has this laid- back, not pretentious atmosphere, which is a welcoming break from the rest of South Beach. They have a good selection of beers, both bottle and tap, plus, full bar, pool tables, and, on this particular night, guys betting they'll run around naked if they lose (glad I missed the end of that). :p Cool bartenders, but don't call the girls "babe" or you'll be served last and not nicely. Also here you will find THE BEST Philly Cheese Steak (w/Whiz) I've had, and their fries... Yum! No cover, jukebox full of glam-rock and an impressive selection of craft beer makes it the antithesis of the usual bottle-poppin' über exclusive scene that defines beach nightlife. The mere mention of Lostie's has a Pavlovian effect on me. During the annual Yelp Drinks promotion, I was drooling over the prices. A Stella, shot of Jamie and tip set me back $10! All that shootin' and chuggin' is probably why I challenged a stranger to a game of darts that degenerated into blind and backwards throwing. The winner was actually a random girl jumped in and hit back to back bull's-eyes like a lady ninja. They attract an amusing and gentrified crowd, but a lot of Shady McShadesters too. I once had my iPhone stolen from behind the bar. Luckily my eagle-eyed friend, Scott M. deserves a merit badge for finding it under another patron's FOOT! I had some angry words with her and she replied with "No hablo Ingles" in a thick Scandinavian accent. Don't 'you people' have enough money and high-standard of living...? In the end I got back to the after-party and she left. Some say I was too nice about this, but what was I supposed to do...slap a bitch? Another irk-worthy gripe is the bad energy surrounding the pool tables. Not to mention it's fiscally irresponsible. Is it better to make $1 per game or have additional space for people to drink??? Lostie's make me the happiest man alive and remove the 2 pool tables closest to the bar I've taken the liberty of naming Calamity and Catastrophe. Pool sharks are up their with tow truck drivers and valet attendants on my list of annoyers. Why do they think that their rights to play with chalk and balls overrides my right to drink? Next time you get bumped with a cue, add a little extra force to their next shot and see what happens. Some where between a dive bar, pool hall and lately sports is what Lost Weekend is for me. Its very un South Beach because its dark but with no neon in site. There is an actual bar there - not some post modern prefabricated hip height counter with bar stool next to it. Maria the bartender is our favorite -easy on the eyes and loose with the pour. There are pool tables if you are into that and the requisite juke box which has a random enough selection to make your time awesome to un bearable for a few moments if someone likes Glam Rock from the 70's or Young MC - so bring a Fiver ($5) just in case. The Alibi is what is making this place the new MECCA for South Beach Philly Fans - the cheese steaks are the real deal - so order a South Philly with WHIZ - yes I said WHIZ not cheese. These things are so good- post Boston Marathon I had 2 and a pitcher of beer. Surprisingly I have never been to the loft but I bet you can find me there soon. read more
